I think it will too, but I won't be an early adopter for it. I'll wait until the 3rd generation. Just like what I did with the ipad.

Exactly!

I think people don't understand how difficult it is to develop new technology and the phases that were required to arrive at the cool stuff we have today. I mean our society has debates over specs in mobile devices that weren't available to laptops 20 years ago...just imagine where watches and other wearables will be in 20 years! It has to start sometime and somewhere so why not now?

It will be interesting to see in the office who has the "cheap" one and the "gold" one. Who will want to be seen wearing the cheap one when "Brian" has that nice gold one?

Similar for me. I just need my iphone and desktop win7 PC with 24" monitor and then my iphone. I personally have no need for an ipad. Anything I personally would do on an ipad I can do on my phone or would rather do it on the much bigger screen desktop.

Anyone know the specifics about 'having to use the iphone with the watch? I found this somewhere:
“The Apple Watch pairs with the newer iPhones — including the iPhone 5, 5S, 5C and iPhone 6 — and pass information back and forth,” Perlroth reports. “If you don’t have your iPhone with you, basic watch functions like time and health and fitness tracking will work, but users will have limited functionality without their iPhones as far as messaging, music and other features.”
MacDailyNews Note: Apple Watch will not have GPS, but it has an on-board accelerometer, so it’ll be able track your steps, distance, and pace. Therefore, even without iPhone, you’ll know how far you’ve gone, you just won’t know where you’ve gone. If you want a map of your route, you’ll need to strap the iPhone to your arm or carry it in your hand as usual.
If that is correct, then the only watch of the bunch I like, the sport watch, is worthless. For me, an avid runner, the point of using the watch is to not bring my phone with me and have it track my distance/pace/etc and also be able to listen to music through bluetooth headphones. Ok, so it can track distance and pace, good. But no music? If that is the case, there is no point at all in getting the apple sport watch. Why the fuck would I or anybody for that matter buy a $300+ watch and still have to strap my phone to my arm for music when I already have my gps watch I got for half the price?

You are correct, the Apple Watch leverages the iPhone's GPS, wifi, and new barometer to calculate fitness stats such as distance, pace, etc. The only benefit the watch adds to your existing iPhone and headphones setup is ease of control being on your wrist vs reaching up to your opposite arm, and the heart rate functionality. I'm not certain on the range of the watch away from the phone or method of communication but I would assume it is lower power bluetooth. This means that you couldn't even leave your phone in a gym locker. I hope I'm wrong and there is another method of communicating with your phone that allows for greater range than bluetooth.

^ what a shame. If that indeed is the case then fuck that, I'm not wasting my money on an apple sport watch. I'll keep using what I've been using.

If I'm going to have to keep strapping my iphone to my arm for music, I'm going to keep using my current gps watch and not waste $300+ on the apple watch.

Such a shame. Who knows, maybe in later versions of the watch it will be possible to use it without the iphone.

Orly? So I could use bluetooth headphones with it? Or does it need to feed off my phone's bluetooth as well?

There's no headphone port. So you do the Math.

Well only slightly improved my battery. Unplugged at 6:30am it's now 12:15pm and I have 18%.

I would've been at this point by 11am before i restored. But my phone is running faster now and my LTE finally works again.

Should've done this a long time ago.

OK...I just don't get ATT Next, maybe Im missing something.

For the 128gb iPhone plus, out of contract cost is $949, 2 year contract is $599.

If you go with ATT Next, you spend $47.45/month for the phone...after only 12 months thats $569.40...How does this even remotely work out to be a good deal?

Personally, I do not like gold...so I guess I don't have to worry about a platinum or palladium one right now

Im more than happy with the regular. But if the Sport still has sapphire with an ion x coating (this is unclear is its a coating or replacing the sapphire) I'd potentially be interested in that one.

Wait...you got 4GB of free space by doing what? Did you back it up wipe it and restore it?

The casing on the sport is lighter/stronger than the stainless in the base model.

Still unknown but if you watch the keynote demo, the VP says you can stream music off an apple device OR listen to the music you have loaded on to the watch itself.

So, the other question is what memory options will be offered with the watch.

18%...and how much fucking around on the net/phone calls/videos have you watched on it in that time frame?

I've never had such piss poor performance from any of phones, regardless of age, unless I was using a lot to drain it.

Yes I backed up, wiped it and then restored it.

I put back my 1GB of music too that didn't restore.

It's mainly because a lot of apps were bloated. Instagram was taking up 300MB. It's now using 25MB. Facebook was using 400mb, now it's 230.

Because you can upgrade to a new phone anytime you want. With the subsidized price you have to wait until the contract ends.

You're basically renting the phone on a monthly basis

I get that...but you're paying 2 years worth of subsidized phone in one year. Not worth...

Do you also get some sort of trade in value for your phone on top of what you paid?

If not, thats just a BAD financial decision.

Do you have a constant signal at work or is your phone always looking to connect to the network?

8% for streaming music in what, an hour no bueno. Can you guys turn off your LTE so that you at least get texts while at work and just flip it back on when you want to surf?

I sit by the window and it's 3-4bars of LTE. If I move into the cave, then it's 1 bar.

But the signal isn't an issue. I have full bars at home and it's the same thing.

Yea I wouldn't do it. But if you're someone like whiskers and needs a new phone every year and doesn't want to pay ETF, early upgrade cost or have a contract then it might make more sense.

If you have to stick with iPhones then Next might make sense. The Android phones get cheap pretty quick or if you break/lose one with no insurance you can go Nexus or Moto X for a temporary fix that won't break the wallet.

I upgrade every 2 years except from the 3GS to 4, back when AT&T allowed annual iPhone upgrades and I was able to sell my 3GS for more than the subsidized cost of a new 32GB 4.

I stick with iPhones and I don't think its worth it.

Worth more to sell my phones to gazelle for $330...buy and unlocked phone for $949...and if I upgrade in a year...sell the unlocked phone for the price they command on the aftermarket.

But I am not doing that either...

Wal-Mart said it will sell the newest suite of Apple iPhones below the recommended price.

The retailer will offer the 16-gigabyte iPhone 6 for $179—when purchased with a two-year Verizon, AT&T or Sprint mobile contract—down from Apple's $199 price.

The bigger iPhone 6 Plus will cost $279 on a two-year contract, compared with the $299 Apple recommends, Wal-Mart said.
clicky ->Wal-Mart to offer iPhone 6 for $179

I think AT&T's next is basically financing the phone. Ill definitely check out Walmart, still trying to figure out the best plan of attack on Friday.

My Xperia Z tablet is dust and waterproof which I like, I would like the iphone to be waterproof solely because of getting stuck in the rain.

True, it does rain though.

Just called ATT since my 5s is getting pathetic 4G speeds. Told me that since its unlocked its not going to register on the 4G network. First I heard of that. I would be more pissed if I wasnt getting the 6.
