Apple: iPhone News and Discussion Thread
Not sure if you know about it, but you can add a link to the Gmail website, or any other website, as an app on your springboard. Just hit the plus sign while on the page and select "add to desktop"
What do you have on your dock?
I have 5 icon dock installed (jailbreak)

I didn't think this would bother me when I got my 3GS....but now it does:
Why doesn't the iPhone have an audible missed call alert?!?!?!?
This feature has been on phones for over a decade now.....and the iPhone can't have this simple feature?!?!?

But yea, it's a reason I am jailbroken and have intelliscreen. Missed e-mail, SMS, call reminders. All Customizable.
Yea I think the last one was a motorola phone I had for sprint back in 2000.
There are so many alerts for the phone, the last thing I need is a missed call alert when I can just easily press the home button and check every once in a while.

Are you the one with the tricked out iPhone home screen?
I want to customize the look of my phone but I have no idea where to start... gonna look up this "intelliscreen" you speak about...
Hmmm 2nd time I've come across this strange glitch/bug/issue with safari on my 3GS.
I'd be browsing and when I try to navigate to a page would just sit there infinitely loading the page. So I would try to navigate to another page but the address bar doesn't work.
So I load up my bookmarks click on a link and the bookmarks screen just stays there.
When i exit and go back in the bookmarks screen is still there and when I rotate the phone the screen partially rotates.
Only way to get safari back to normal is to reset the phone.
I think I should try to take a screen shot the next time it happens. Since I don't think I made any sense.

So I installed the powersupport anti glare screen protector.
Not sure I like the look and feel of it. Feels like I'm rubbing my finger on really fine sandpaper
hmmm... I guess the same feel as a non glossy LCD monitor

iPhone 3GS capable of 720p, 1080p hi-def playback?
A forum post to Chinese-language site weiphone.com (Translated Link) indicates that the iPhone 3GS is capable of playing back both 720p and 1080p video encoded in H.264 through the built-in video player, suggesting that Apple is currently placing arbitrary limits on the device, either to preserve battery life or keep its functionality more consistent with that of prior iPhone OS devices. Using the free document storage and viewing application FileAid, forum member fridtear was able to circumvent Apple’s video restrictions, smoothly playing back files up to 30 Mbps in 1980x1080 resolution via the iPhone 3GS’ built-in video player. While the effects on the device’s temperature and battery of playing back such large video files is unclear, these tests do appear to indicate that Apple would be able to open up the 3GS and any similarly-appointed future iPhone OS devices to playback of HD video files purchased from the iTunes Store, and potentially allow the devices to output HD-quality video via the Component AV Cable for iPod and iPhone.

cause the only way out of it that I know of is to reset the phone

you would jailbreak it using redsn0w and unlock it with ultrasn0w.
