oh whoops. sorry for the misinformation.

mizouse is correct. i thought the upgrade thing didn't matter since this was a new release and not on the shelves already.

sorry to say, but you're asking for a lot of luck, as in you better hope their servers crash with the amount of traffic they're gonna get. And long enough for you to wait till morning haha.

So, in the UK, if you order the phone from Apple tomorrow you are buying the unlocked phone starting around $600 US. The carriers get the phone on the 21st.

Hey Black Tire, if you were trying to be such a troll, you would have notice that video just on the last page.

I'll take a BETTER screen thats a little smaller any day over a screen thats "just bigger"...

And I dont want the iphone any wider. In its current form it was the perfect size. I'm hoping the added length will be nice...but it wont fit in my pockets the same anymore.

I've held and used all these "bigger" phones. IMO they are obnoxious.

I'm going to wait to upgrade my iPhone. I've had my iPhone4 for two years and it still works well. There's nothing revolutionary about the iPhone5 and I felt the same about the 4S. As long as I can get the iOS update on my phone I'll be happy. I imagine if my phone's battery holds up for an additional two years and iOS7 can be installed on it I could go that long without upgrading.

Apple wins with the length versus girth argument.

That's kinda like my situation.

I'm still rocking the 3Gs.....sure the 4 & 4s are better and faster, but I never felt the urge to switch....new iOS made the phone "new" every year or two.

However, now the phone is getting extremely slow, and the battery is finally starting to show its age.

That being said, the 5 is a huge leap from the 3Gs.....which is why I'm getting one.

x2 I love the taller screen. My iPod Touch fits perfectly in one hand, any wider and it'd be a stretch.

I'll be coming from a Droid Incredible I hate this thing.

For your case, undoubtedly do it. You'll love the retina screen. That was one reason I upgraded from my iPhone3 to the iPhone4 (and because it was running horribly with the new version of iOS at the time), and I had the iPhone3 for approx. 3 years IIRC before I upgraded to the 4. I just can't justify wanting to upgrade just because the screen got a bit bigger and because it now has a faster CPU. Their hardware advancements I feel are tapering and you'll start seeing more people waiting to upgrade so long as the updates are still available for there device.

could not agree more. that's why i'm upping to the 5. my 3GS is very slow and the battery doesn't even last a full day. i feel like i need to have an extra charger at any location i go to (work, home, car, friends house, etc)

I felt that way about the 1 and the 3g...so I waited for the 3gs...the 4 was different enough...the 4S I decided to wait even though I REALLY wanted the better camera and siri.

My 4 has become slow (and I'm guessing a clean install would help clean it up) waiting for the camera to open to get shots of the boys is PAINFUL. And sometimes the lag in opening apps kills me.

Not to mention some features of iOS 6 are crippled on the 4.

I'm happy and willing to make the upgrade. And I will start the 5 from a fresh install, not a restore.

I have at&t, I don't like it either. Verizon is the best, but I'm not wiling to go the CDMA route... believe it or not, I love to talk and use my internet at the same time, it helps me in my business. Plus GSM and ability to add any sim I'd like when I travel = win.

But what I really don't understand is how the prices go up every year!!! instead of down, the technology is improving, and prices keep climbing higher.
You can talk and use internet at the same time. Also will be a GSM slot in Verizon phones if I'm not mistaken.

If I preorder tonight (or early tomorrow), will I get the i5 on launch day?

If you are taking a lot of pictures, I would upgrade to at least the 4s, should be able to find a used one at a really good price. The camera it is SO much better than the 4. I've been battling this thought since the 4s came out, so now I'll just go with the 5.

LTE, talk and surf at the same time, I'd like to see it in action. Verizon is too damn expensive.

If you preorder tonight, it should only start shipping on Sept 21...

Preorder saves you time and aggravation of waiting hopelessly in line

That was how it worked when I went from my 3GS to 4 2.5 years ago. I just connected me phone to my computer. Followed the instructions and bam, my 3GS sim was disabled and service was moved over to the 4.

And I may need to get that adapter for my car charger with aux output.

Just depends on if you have accessories that need to use it.

If you have accessories that need the 30, nonsense, not sure, doesn't seem to be room for the old 30pin and I like the idea that you can just plug it in, doesn't have to be facing front. I glad they didn't go to micro usb, I hate fighting that "has to be perfect" to connect. It's on my Mophie.

Question:

If pre-ordering online tonight, will there be an option "to keep existing plan"?

Here's why I ask. I'm with ATT, and I'm grandfathered in with "unlimited data".
I want to make sure I keep that (I don't care about face time over LTE), and I don't want a tiered data plan.

Same boat, we can definitely keep the plan... and regarding facetime, I've always done it via My 3G.... or 3g unrestrictor, your choice

There is something to that degree. I haven't had any issues when I switched to the 3GS and again to the 4.

I do always double check. But I've had the unlimited going on 6 years now. And that includes brining my wife onto my plan and her having the 3GB plan.
