Obvious warnings apply... do not insert metal objects into the port, etc.

But I powered it off and went to town because the little plastic pick just couldn't get the job done.

With the metal pin, you can feel the metal and plastic surfaces... digging down directly into the back of the port, it felt like dragging the pin through carpet so soft.

Should have done it months ago.

And it's like a little Tardis in that port. So much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside.

Update. Used safety pin to carefully pry out more shit. Here's the final pile, toothpick for reference. Clean your ports lol. FWIW, you can use a metal object as long as you're not being an idiot about it.

I thought so too... when I zoomed way in on it that thought came to mind.

So I smoked it and now I can speak in binary. Downside is I developed autizim canser.

That's because the $1000 phablet trend has gone wayside.

many people have wised up with smaller sub $500 phones that functions as well as something that cost 2x as much.

Apple has released the SE and Google has the pixel lineup.

perhaps the precarious economy also has an affect on people's budget. people cant pay rent, cant pay for food.

They're offering $400 trade in for a Pixel 3 which brings the phone down to $600. Phone is massive too. Although the trade is fair, I would not prefer this phone.

i have small asian hands, a 5.2-5.6" screen is perfect for me!!!

to me; that deal sounds horrible! unless, like you, your pixel 3 is giving problems...
my pixel 3 is paid off, no reason for me to trade-in only to pay monthly, or drop a lump sum. horrible deal. lol

Not a fan of the deal either. I'd rather sell it for less and get another Pixel or comparable phone.

Waiting for P5 personally. I had a Samsung phone in the past and hated having a third party device. Went Nexus and never looked back.

Who knows when Pixel 5 will be released. 4a is already months late. I think this is because Google realizes that a lot of people who can afford a new phone are also able to work from home, thereby not needing a new phone.

I was going to buy a new phone earlier this year, but with COVID canceling all my trips, I've got no need to replace my phone now.

This is exactly me, though I upgraded at the end of last year.

Upgraded my phone for the new camera(s), performance, and appearance. Well, I hardly use my phone now that I'm glued to my desk or couch for the most part and have better options.

My P2XL is still running OK for now. Seems it has held up better than the 3 did. Been thinking about the 4a since I don't hack and mess with my phone as much as I used to, only thing I request out of my next device is the ability to root and run Viper[4A]. I gotta have that sound boost for music. I also take a lot of pics with my phone, so having the additional lens options would be nice, but not sure it's worth the premium of the upcoming 5 for me.

the 5 will not be a premium device...it has a mediocre SoC.
GOogle is learning that the nexus line was the sweet spot...Instead they chose to chase Apple and Samsung with the Pixel line.
now they are reverting back to the Nexus philosophy !!!! which is great for consumers!

It may not be premium in the same regard as the iPhone Pro and Samsung models but it should have some appreciable benefits over the 4 and 4a models. Most importantly being 5G capability and hopefully a wide angle camera lens. I'm not going into a 4a at this point just so I can wait and see what happens with the 5.

After cleaning all the shit out of my USBC port, my phone is back to working much better lol.

^well, that is to be expected...from a business prospective...why would the previous year hardware eclipse the current gen?

Apple and Samsung use the highest end SoC available.
the upcoming pixel 5 will not use the Highest end SoC. it will use a mediocre SoC, which still beats out the previous years chips...

I recently bought a Ryzen 5 4600h laptop. even tho it's a mediocre chipset, it still blows past Intels highest offerings from the previous year

Qualcomm only has a few 5G SoC's.

865+
865
768G
765G

Chances are it'll use one of the 7xx Soc's if it's at the $800 MSRP point, and tests show the 765G to perform somewhere between the 845 and 855. The 855 last year's flagship SoC.

Snapdragon 765G vs Snapdragon 865: How might the Pixel 5 stack up? | Business

https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/0...and-heres-why/

I wouldn't call performance between an 845 and an 855 "mediocre"

Mediocre: of only moderate quality; not very good.

I wouldnt say it's mediocre in performance...but perhaps not the highest chipset available.
it's in the middle of the lineup.

yes, i got the terminology wrong.

I'd welcome Google's return to the Nexus philosophy. Leave the $1k Android phones to Samsung and give me all the same functionality with none of the bloat, a less flashy case, and a camera of "lesser" quality and I'm happy. I don't need much when all I use a phone for these days is to surf pornhub while taking a shit.

Mediocre to me is any one of the $200 Motorola devices. A $500 device is firmly in the mid to upper range IMO.

This. IDGAF about most of the gimmicks. Good screen, good camera and call it good. Waterproof is nice as well but overall it can be a lot cheaper. I'd imagine getting rid of the stupid radar chip will save a ton of money to begin with.

As a former Moto owner, I concur. I went from a 3-year old Note 4 to one of these. I didn't mind the shitty camera but the basic performance was abysmal. After a handful of months, the Pixel 3 deal came out and I was done. The Moto is still sitting in a drawer as a backup.

Agreed, I rocked a Moto-X for three or four years, it served me well but other than the contoured shape, it was an unremarkable phone. I upgraded to a Moto-Z Play which had a stupid long battery life, even after a couple of years of usage, I would only need to charge it once every four or five days, and as with the Moto-X, it was a competent but otherwise unremarkable phone.

I went to work for a financial institution and needed a phone which was getting active security updates, and that prompted me to opt for my Pixel 3 XL, yes, I had to settle for charging the phone every two or three days versus the longer battery usage cycle of the Moto-Z, but not an onerous task; the flip side is the Pixel is head and shoulders a better phone in pretty much every respect. Now, does the 3 XL compare favorably with my daughter's Galaxy of similar vintage? Yes and no; the Pixel doesn't have all of the bloatware, cost significantly less, has arguably a better camera, and goes longer on a charge, the Galaxy on the other hand has more memory and a faster processor.

I haven't had an Android for a while for one I really liked was my Moto X (2013 version)

The customization was really nice. Never saw anyone else had the same phone as I did. Raise to wake and the OLED screen was neat. Curved, matte back with the dimple in the back... it was plastic but felt great in your hand. I didn't use a case with it, and ultimately never dropped it even once. One of my favorite devices even though it was really meh specs and camera-wise. Shit, might have been my favorite Android device.

Now I'm just an Apple shill.

I miss my Moto X. I had a white one with the wood grain back. I loved that phone. I think it was one of the first Android phones that used gestures/shakes to control the camera & flashlight.

Did an update a week or so ago. Boot loop happened all the sudden last night while using the phone. It happened briefly a couple months ago but came back on. No such luck this time.

I've tried the restarts.. Hold down power + down volume and all that. Nothing. I shouldn't have to try all these hacks to get my fucking phone working.. . Going to Verizon store later and hope they can provide a replacement and/or send this one to be fixed.
