Any recourse for my LG Pixel 1 (still in my drawer) that had the boot loop issue and will not start?
Microsoft doing smartphones again, but this time it'll run Android. Surface Duo.

Anybody else upgrade their Android phones yet to Android 10? I did mine this morning but haven't bothered to see what is new.

I went to check out the Note 10+, the phone feels VERY premium...
IMO, probably has the most expensive "feel" among all Samsung phones....but i refuse to spend $1200 (with tax) on a stupid phone....

Hmmm, my Pixel 3 XL hasn't been charged since 4:00 AM yesterday and I still have 65% battery life nearly 29 hours later. If it is draining the battery a little faster, it is a very-very little.

^you can change it in "settings"
going forward, Google will be using gestures and no back and home button for their future phones...
might as well start getting used to them now

Hmmm, so does that mean Google is going to drop those two buttons in the future, or will they remain as something one can optionally enable?

^since you still have it as an option, maybe it will remain...
the pixel 4 is using project soli, or radar, for some gestures.
im assuming they want to get rid of "buttons"

I upgraded to 10 on my Pixel 2 when it was first possible. No ill effects that I can tell. Still have the three buttons thankfully. I can't get used to the swipey interface they're going to.

Next question; since upgrading my Pixel 3 to Android 10 yesterday, the default temperature display appears to be showing in incorrect location; it is currently 47°F outside, however, my phone says it's 82°F; I've done a bunch of searches and cannot figure out how to fix this. Anybody have the magic key to tell my phone where the hell it is?

Wow my battery is def a dud. Lasts maybe 14 hours without charging on a good day
Whats up with RDX owners?

My 3XL was definitely draining much faster after the Android 10 update, but there was a small update earlier this week that seems to have corrected the drain.
My brothers 3XL had the same issue. I expect them to continue putting out updates to address that though.

^Holy fuck that's scary. But only at night? Have you tried 3rd party apps?

Maybe accidentally activated "wind down mode" specifically "focus mode"?

Yeah isn't there some higher level "routine" setting that you can set to not get alerts at night. Pretty sure I've got that settbut I don't remember how or the specific timing. But I think after 10 or 11 and up until 5 am or so, my phone makes no notification sound or vibrations.

Can you post a link to a good video outlining what all the update consist of and how to use them? I don't know anything about gestures. I do like how it notifies you when apps are using your location and lets you adjust accordingly. What's the silent notifications all about?
Haven't noticed any battery issues on mine. Take it off the charger 645am and typically don't plug it in until 10-1030pm, And I'm a pretty heavy user.
Whats up with RDX owners?

I have upgraded both my Pixel 2XL (work) and Pixel 3XL (personal) to Android 10. I have one really weird issue with my Pixel 3XL. None of my alarms or alerts work at all at night. Even if I turn off do not disturb. Has caused several issues of missed things. Moved alarms to my work phone for the time but last night it failed to alert me my smoker went out overnight.
For the notifications, I'd look at the app specific settings. Settings > Apps > select the app in question > Notifications. If you're not getting notified at night, that definitely sounds like some form of DND or wind down is on your phone.

This was eye opening for me. I didn't realize how many apps were truly running in the background, and getting my location. Uber, for example - that's an app I haven't opened on my phone since March, but it was pulling my location.

silent notifications are notifications that wont pop up. you can make notifications "Alert", "silent", or "dont fuckin' display at all"
for example; I have the weather notification and commute times as silent...because I still want to see them, but I dont want them to "Alert" me with a noise, vibration or notification dot.
it's just giving you control of what you see, hear and feel.
For me; Only email, calls, and text are set to "alert" everything else is set to silent or off.

For alarms, are you using the built in alarm app or a 3rd party app? I've heard (and experienced) that 3rd party alarm apps are not working properly. I used to use Gentle Alarm, but after two missed alarms, I switched to the built in alarm app and there have been no issues since.
For the notifications, I'd look at the app specific settings. Settings > Apps > select the app in question > Notifications. If you're not getting notified at night, that definitely sounds like some form of DND or wind down is on your phone.

Same it is crazy how many apps have been using location. I first started ignoring those pop ups and swipping them away but now when I have time I am going through and editing the setting for all apps. There are only a handful that I feel need location to work the way I want them too even if not open. Otherwise 95% or more of apps have no business needing location info unless I have opened them.

Camera upgrade mostly. That's the most important thing to me by far. Even though the camera is not as good as my mirrorless (yet) it's still damn good and, no matter what, the best camera in the world is the one you have on you. The rest of the stuff I could take it or leave it, the radar thing is cool but remains to be seen how much of a gimmick it is vs actually useful. The face unlock is nice, can now unlock the phone while it's flat on the desk. Other things like minor performance upgrades and stuff are good too.
My P2XL is still going strong and does everything I want so I'll be keeping it for a backup phone. The big trigger to me was the difference between photos that my phone takes vs what my wife's P3 takes, it's immediately obvious. I usually go for a new phone every other year so this was my time. If the camera upgrade was just meh, I would have stuck with the P2.
