The notch is fine. The fact that the camera is amazing, it's a straight Google device and the fast updates has me sold.
It is what has me keep coming back is getting all the new software right away and the camera is great. The device just works smooth all the time as well. Finally getting wireless charging back is what put me over the edge for it honestly. I hated that I lost that with my last 3 phones. Otherwise I am still really happy with my Pixel 2 XL. It will finally replace my aging Galaxy S6 work phone.
Are you guys seeing the batteries on these phones stay usable for more than 2 years? I'm finding that all my Samsung batteries are useless in less than 2 years so I can't justify dropping $1,000 let alone half of that every two years.

I don't know about 2 years cause I don't use most of my phones that long. However, I am still taking my Pixel 2 XL off at 6am, putting it back on the charger at around 9 or 10pm and and having around 5-10% left with about 4hrs screen on time and about 25-30min of calls. I am at 1 year and 1 week with the phone right now. I feel like I have not lost much battery life at all to this point. Maybe an hour.

I've had a Note 2, Note 4 (2 of them) and they all crapped out after 1.5-2 years. Then my current S7 Edge which I've had over a year. What I do like is they don't shatter when dropped. A little $5 TPU case has saved my ass.
While I was poking around for my next Android play phone (I am mostly iOS), I discovered that you an buy a used (A-grade, excellent) LG V30 for around 280-350, or a new LG V30 for around 450. They might be unlocked, but there are also versions for AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.
Although this is last year's chipset (Qualcomm 835), this was an excellent phone for me that did not have the kind of big OS overhead that Samsung and others have over top of Android.
It seems to me that if you're looking for a first class, almost flagship device, you might want to look at these.
You'll even have all T-Mobile bands because LG supported Band 71 well ahead of others.

Ah, I've never owned a Note, just Galaxies. Maybe you use it and/or charge it different than most? Idk.
I've also been very happy with the toughness of these phones in general. I'm more careful than most, but my phones stay in good shape overall the whole time I use them, and I've never shattered one. I always use a cheap case also, mainly for grip.

You will have to define useable...
I used my previous S6 edge + for about 2 years and i would say the battery life after 2 years is about 60-70% of how it was brand new.
But i think that is pretty much the same case for every phone on the market including iphone.
Is it useable? yes. Do i have to plan to have a portable charger with me when travel? yes.
Now with the Note 8, i dont have to worry about charging for at least a whole day... until it start aging too.
Note 4 is so old dude... i have the Note 8 for about 6 months now... probably the most stable phone i have had so far. none of the laggy stuff like the older Samsung ones.
The only dislike i have is the Bixby crap.. i tried to turn it off and it is like a stalker keep coming back up by itself.
Before my last reset at 6 hours the phone would be down to 20% depending on usage. If heavy like 15%. After the reset it's at 50% in 6 hours so I guess around a half day it would be dead. So now at 6 hours I just charge it up (lunch time) and leave it connected till I leave at 5 or 6. Then by midnight it's at 15% because at the gym I use the timer and Spotify. So that's my dilemna. I travel monthly now so I'm afraid to use it on the flight too much if there's no charger.
Other than updates taking FOREVER to get I've liked my LGs
Well...at least they've got 8.0, if not 8.1. LOL....
There's a hell of a lot of manufacturers way behind that.
After looking at all the possibilities (and I almost can't believe I did it), I got another LG V30 to play with. It just stood out as the best value, costing less than a 2018 midrange device while handily beating the performance.
And it's just so I can keep up with how Android works. It's not like I have to impress anybody. LOL.... :-)

That's weird. I wonder if you had a stuck app or something that was running like crazy. How does it do now after the reset?

What you need is a good portable charger... if you dont want a new phone.

when it's new, it's amazing. Super responsive, great battery life. But later, updates stop coming. Battery life tanks. Maybe android is better now, but back then it was supposed to be the best Samsung yet, too.
The biggest news to me is that they've managed to hook up with T-Mobile in the 6T's rollout.
The on-screen fingerprint seems kind of slow. I'm glad that making space for it allowed for a bigger battery, but to be honest I believe if I bought one right now it'd be the 6, not the 6T.
I don't think the fingerprint reader on the front screen is enough to make me give up wireless charging, either, when it comes to it. For some reason I can't explain, the lack of wireless charging seemed like less a big deal on the 6.

I've got a 5 and like it a lot, but just upgraded to the pixel 3. The one plus really only supports t-mobile and some att bands and I really wanted to try project fi.
The lack of wireless charging is a head scratcher. I mean why else would you go with a glass back? It just makes the device more susceptible to damage for no reason. I may miss the ram they add on their base model eventually (my op5 still runs great multi-tasking with the older 835 chipset) , but I figured if I was going to lose the headphone jack I may as well get the phone with the camera I wanted.
Oh and my oneplus 5's usbc jack seemed to start to get be an issue after about a year. It didn't happen to my op3 so hopefully that was just a bum unit.

So far it is a great phone but he work day has been so busy I haven't done much more than swap out my sim card and let things update.
I'm going to see how Black Friday fares and if nothing catches my eye just stick with it a while longer.
