Yup, got it last week sometime. You might have to ask it to check for updates if it's not pulling them automatically. I have no idea why but it sometimes helps.

This update includes the color saturation change, I tried it out and hated it. Everything looked too jacked up and disgusting. Went back to old and am happy with the base calibration.

Dang what is going on with mine then. I have been checking daily to try and get it. Both with my sim card in and without it just on wifi. I have actually had this work before. I am about to try clearing the data on Google Play Services as it has got me updates in the past as well.

I don't believe I am going to use the color update at all either. I was using my 6P early this week as I needed a hot spot and I hated the colors on it. I honestly really like the more natural looking colors that Google chose to go with.

Yep once you're used to the better, more natural colors, the more saturated ones just look awful.

Out of curiosity, is there a dark mode setting for browsing AZ? Or does a certain browser have the capability?

I'm leaning more and more towards Android, and an OLED screen with dark mode was easier on the eyes.

i've had it for like six months, on dev builds.
why you scared, there's absolutely no crashing, even on dev builds.

I wiped my device and back tracked to Nougat, but oreo trumps N in EVERYTHING. re-downloaded the Oreo Dev.
battery life is superb with Oreo!

iOS has a dark mode, buried a bit. If you want to look for it.

Android has a dark mode if the manufacturer thought to include it.

I'm not aware of a per browser setting, but what do I know.

Most devices also have a night mode that is not dark, but very good for extended reading. On both iPhone X and LG V30, the night mode can be set a way so that it stays on all of the time, and if your eyes are bad you have a way to set it yellow enough to probably help.

You know, it's funny, but America Online research from a long time ago told us how Web pages needed to be designed.

Light blue to medium blue highlights.

Typing areas a light maize color.

That's how they judged that you wanted to design if you were going to keep people interested and focused for extended periods, but they could never get people to do it.

What's fatal to long term interest is a page that has black highlights and stark white typing areas with a lot of red scattered around.

@George - I set up the dark mode through accessibility (invert colors? White turned into black) for my sister and she and I both didn't like it. It functioned close to what you'd expect, but not quite exactly.

I keep sleeping on the LG devices, will have to look into them some more.

What? I've been running Oreo for months now. First on the 6P and now on the P2XL, never had any issues that weren't resolved quickly by Google.

I wouldn't have any hesitations about switching over provided you have a Google phone and not a third party one.

My Android experiment with the LG V30 (v. iPhone X) has taught me that the Android applications very often have more features or are more configurable than the iOS equivalent applications.

I'm toying with selling the V30 because it's hard to find an excuse to carry it, being in the Apple ecosystem other than that.

But I have to say, it's an awesome device, by itself, and it's taught me that Android definitely doesn't totally suck.

I saw you had an upgrade. Every Sammy I owned the battery eventually takes a shit but I haven't owned any other brand Android phone. The Sammy's sure as shit are durable. I never cracked a screen with a drop on a Note 2, 4, and S7 Edge (yet). The Note 8 has a weird shape to me being long but not wide so you might want to try one handing stuff if that's normal for you just to test it out. I've always had in my mind that if my phone craps, I'd go mid-range like Moto or Huawei.

Flashed Oreo onto my Mi MIX. It's quite nice and snappy - almost feels like a new phone.

Reboots feel pretty snappy.
I like the 'battery hogging apps' list on the notification bar.
Picture in picture is great -used it with Maps and VLC player.

I should be good to go with this phone for a while...... I am pretty curious what Samsung is going to pull with the Samsung X.
I could see them trying to pull off a foldable phone. I wouldn't mind this at all, if it can be done right.
Since I'm a 'big screen' kinda guy, pocketability i.e. Length has always been a problem.

I am on 8.1.0 and just found a new feature for my Nexus 5x. I can swipe down on the fingerprint sensor and it displays my notifications just like swiping down from the top of the screen. Pretty cool!

Would love to see other features like Swipe-UP for camera...

Crap, Nexus 5x is at 22 months of ownership and the bootloop issue appeared.

Basically non-functional

haha, i guess the idea is to take out the board in the phone, heat up the problem area, put it back together and see if it fixes the bootloop issue. I think its kind of like baking a circuit board or applying heat to solder joints, it just might be worth a shot to revive. Might only be temporary tho, so good choice on the pixel 2 :-)

Um, yeah, I am technical guy, but I am not taking the board out of my phone to heat gun it...

For those who reported having LG fix it, it was generally within the first 18 months, and you were without a phone for two weeks while they repaired it... No way I can do that.

Yeah me too! I paid for the rush-rush shipping and it still won't be here until Monday or Tuesday. WTF Google, you don't have 24 hour order fulfillment? I ordered last night at 6PM and it hasn't even been sent to packing yet...

i'm trying to holdout for this year's Pixel release.
my Nexus 6P is still going strong!!! however, Google will be ending security support for it in September.
with the US Govt. urging not to buy Huawei, those Security updates are important to me.

It's always a good idea to have a $50 Android burner (I'm on ATT) that you can drop a sim into until the new phone arrives.
