So the Nexus 6 is available for some really good prices, as well. Second the "you will get used to the size" sentiment.

Not sure I will "get used to it"...

I already get annoyed when I sit down and the phone is in my front pocket.

If the Zoolander micro-phone was real, I might own it.

Out of all the android phones I have had, Note 3 was the most reliable one. More reliable than my S6 Edge+
S6 Edge+ is brand new. What's wrong with it?

The Nexus 6P is right outside your budget and it feels a lot smaller than the Nexus 6 since it is a full 1/4 narrower.

Nothing. But in terms of reliability i think Galaxy series has always been inferior than the Note.

I dont really know why but the phone just does not feel it has 4gb of rams + 8 Core.. if you know what i mean. While my Note 3 felt faster with 3gb of rams with quad core.

Either of the Nexus phones. I was hesitant about the 6P but got used to the size in about 5 minutes. Now everything else looks small to me. (inb4that'swhatshesaid).

I personally wouldn't go anywhere other than the Nexus devices just from a software standpoint. I don't trust any of the other manufacturers and their ability to create new ROMs for newer revisions of android in a way that makes sense and performs well. Other than Nexus, they are all out to make money from phones and have planned obsolescence in their business models. Google is out to make software and made some phones along the way. That's the way I would buy my phones.

IDGAF about most of the features on the new Samsungs or whatever, I'd never use them. The things I do use, the Nexus does stunningly well. I have zero complaints or regrets.

Case in point to SamDoe. My new fully charged battery on my freshly restored (2 weeks) Note 4 lasted 20 hours. I slept for 6 of them. MEH

This was the reason I went with the MotoX, it was touted as receiving software "directly from Google" and not having to sit and wait for Verizon to pass the update to me. I was wrong.

Anyway, I think the 5x and the 6 are the best options if needed.

Another issue I am currently having, the Google Gmail desktop widgets stopped working... Hope there is just an issue with the widgets.

Not really. The battery is not that much longer lasting as the old one. I think it's just a combination of TouchWiz + 5.1.1 ATT baking gone bad. It wasn't like this on Kit Kat.

All of them promise the updates and none of them deliver. I even had issues with my google play edition galaxy S4 which was promised updates on the Nexus timeline because it ran stock Android. No such luck and after installing lollipop, the whole phone slowed to a crawl.

A combination of touchjizz with anything is awful. Worst skin ever. I won't ever own another Samsung device again, I don't even care about all the frivolous gimmicky features.

Nexus or iPhone, those should be the only options for people who actually want some reliability and control over their phones.

now, google is going the way of apple and taking control of the processors/chips.
or want to.

google hates how different manufactures implement different features and want it to be just a few chips with the same features ALL across the board.

we're getting there, fellas. be patient stogie!

I am not sure we are there yet. I can't imagine this will happen in time for the next Nexus phone though. I would imagine that taking place is a 2-3 years out.

They'll be done with the OS alphabet by the time they have a quick new OS adoption rate. We'll be on Zucchini (which is not a dessert!) by the time all manufacturers are on the same page.

the quailcomm 820 was just released and will be in phones by next year.

if google can secure a contract with a chip manufacture, they could push for one solid chip across the lineup.

plus, its a cute naming convention but they must have known "Never to use letters as plans, because then you'll only limited to 26 plans."

They name storms by the alphabet too. When they get to the end they will just start over again.

TMo finally pushed another OS update to my S5, if this doesn't improve performance, I will be in the market for either a 5X or 6P

The 6P is pretty fantastic so far. Doze is really impressive on Marshmallow. Haven't had much of an opportunity to test the camera, yet.

They could try, but it wouldn't happen.

If Google made it a requirement to use x brand chips, some manufacturers would find another OS.

What I hope is that Google says "you want to be on the tier one update plan? buy a phone that uses our chip. You want tier two (slower, less likely) updates and want to buy a cheaper phone with less features, buy a phone with an "off" chip not on our tier one list."

If they don't have to worry about wonky architecture, they can push fast updates. Look how long it took to get 5.0 to the original MotoX due to architecture issues.

Agree on both counts, but $200 for 32GB Nexus is not too shabby.

I think the 5X is the replacement. I wonder if the 5 would even get N at this point.

Doze has made me forget to charge my N6 several times... I get about a day and a half of juice so I will just go to sleep, esp on the weekends... plus the phone charges so qwik i am not messed up about it... but that is the MOTO turbo charger... LOL

My only complaint is.... when I am driving and ask for the "OK google" it is qwik to respond... but when I give it a request it hesitates

Lolipop version had no hesitation or lag at all... IMVHO

it's STILL very relevant and competitive.
Ive got one of the first 2013 Nexus 5's. still going strong today.

the only thing that it doesnt have is a fingerprint scanner, So, IF N does not need that security step to get into the phone, the 2013 nexus 5 will still be relevant.

I dont plan on buying a new phone until this one breaks. and at this point, I dont see it breaking, as I keep it in a case.
also, if battery life degrades, there is a DIY that shows how to install a new battery.
maybe the only thing Im worried about is the flash drive being corrupt.

Friend of mine picked up an Xperia Z5 Premium. Very, very nice device. Would be around the top of my list for an Android phone. Problem is, no warranty, no payment plan :vaselineplease:

Have always loved how Sony phones look but yeah too much risk vs reward. I hear they're not even the best performers anyways.

what happened to Google/gmail?? Do you guys with Nexus phones still get notifications like when gmail "reads" your itinerary, then automatically adds the task/trip to your calendar? Or when you're away from home, and it gives you traffic/ETA to go home? Or when you get a tracking number (UPS/FedEx/USPS etc etc) and you get a notification that the package was delivered... I don't get any of these anymore Is there something in settings I have to turn on?

I don't have a Nexus phone, but I've always used the Google Launcher but I used to get all those things, now I don't

You mean Google Now? I don't like using it because of the battery and data use.
