Textra was .99 so I paid it. Did Sammy finally allow quick message replies without leaving the app or replying while the phone is locked?

I paid for Textra too. I love the quickness, the themes and the ability to put certain text messages on silent.

Same here it just works very well. The price is reasonable to me.

Finally getting 5.1 on my Nexus6. Had to pull my Verizon sim card and then clear the Google Service Framework data, do a force stop, and then restart. It won't be the Verizon version but at least it will get me Enhanced LTE for voice and data which is all I am after.

I'm having a problem with Textra btw. When I respond to a text on a locked screen, I can type in text no problem. However, if I hit the + to take a pic or add an emoji, it won't work. I spoke to their tech support and he said it might be another app interfering with theirs. I didn't have of the apps he listed though.

Is there a way to change up the way my weather widget looks? Like make it transparent and change the icons and clock? I downloaded a widget from the playstore but don't like it.

Boner

But editing a widget is probably up to the creator if they put settings. The widgets I've seen are what they are.

A bunch of reviews came out for the G4 in the past few days but I'm still waiting on the Anandtech review especially when it comes to the display and battery, amongst other things. PocketNow seems to be the best overall review out of the bunch so far.

A lot of reviews are glossing over the display and not really going too in depth about its pros and cons. They say its a lot brighter than any IPS display out there but none seem to talk about the color accuracy and none are measuring its accuracy. The battery reviews seem to be a mixed bag as well. Some reviews are getting well over 4+ SOT while others are saying its worse than the G3 which makes no sense...

Camera reviews are showing it being neck and neck with the S6 and really comes down to realistic colors (G4) vs. saturated colors (S6). Max Lee did a pretty good comparison of the S6 and the G4 cameras here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFlY...ature=youtu.be

The OIS seems to be overly aggressive on the G4 in a bunch of video samples and the mic doesn't seem to be as good as the S6.

Choosing between the two is quite difficult for me right now because while the S6 looks nice it carries quite a few cons such as:

No MHL/Slimport support (wtf Samsung!) - have to use their Allshare/Miracast protocol
Root will be much more difficult to achieve without tripping Knox
Samsung Pay becomes disabled when Knox is tripped

On the other hand the G4 cons seem to be:
OIS is very aggressive on video recordings
Camera shots on Auto not as consistent as S6 especially lowlight
Battery seems to be inconsistent right now
No Wireless charging by default which would be extra costs to add

With that said, the G4 will probably be easier to root and the removable battery and expandable microSD is a big plus especially if you plan to take a lot of photos. What to do what to do.

So the S6 and S6 Edge just got root recently with an exploit:

[ROOT] PingPongRoot ***S6 & S6 Edge Root… | Samsung Galaxy S6 | XDA Forums

It also apparently doesn't trigger KNOX which is great for keeping your warranty. Just gotta make sure you don't flash any custom recoveries which they still haven't been able to bypass without tripping KNOX. To restore to stock you can just use ODIN and flash the appropriate TAR file:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...mware-t3086387

Still torn between the G4 and the S6. Reviews are going either way for both phones and its just a matter of when the G4 will drop to kinda determine which I'll pick up cause I've been having a new phone itch for a while now. I'm heavily leaning towards the S6 at the moment though considering that I haven't really rooted my Nexus 5 on Lollipop so I think I can live without root...

Samsung teasing an Iron Man version of the S6:

Coming Soon (*Detailed availability in markets may differ by region)

I hope it looks something like this cause that would easily make my decision between the S6 and the G4:

1RhJwOh.jpg

All this waiting between an announcement date for the G4 and details above said phone above are killing me. Then we have Google I/O coming up which I know I should wait on before pulling the trigger on a phone because the new Nexus 5 is probably going to be leaked.

Do you think S6 will be as clean as claimed for Android without root. Especially that you're used to N5?

Is advanced 4G LTE worth it? I've read it's a battery killer, and the main benefit is for HD voice calling only?

Seems like the Snapdragon 810 found in many 2015 flagships is having problems...

Well I have an HTC One M7 that I use occasionally and that's on Sense 6 non-rooted. It's still a great phone and I would've kept using it if my GPS didn't suddenly just fail on its own. I haven't felt the need to really root probably since KitKat came around. The only reason I would really want to root is for AdAway, otherwise 90% of the stuff I do on my phone doesn't require root.

TouchWiz will never be as clean as Stock Android but unlike others who hate TouchWiz for the sake of it being TouchWiz, I think it brings a lot of things that Stock Android doesn't have. Yes I agree, it looks like vomit but they seem to have toned it down somewhat with the S6 and custom themes can alleviate some of that issue.

What a lot people fail to realize is that the skinned UI's bring a whole bunch of features that aren't found in Stock Android which eventually make their way down in future Stock Android updates. Primarily for me is the plethora of Camera features found in the skinned versions of Android and usually the better picture processing. This was very apparent in the HTC One M7 Google Play Editions when I flashed my M7 to the GPE version, it lost all the extra features that Sense 6 brought like slow motion, photobooth pictures and a bunch of other stuff. Stock Android just has crappy camera software, period. The other thing that I've been wanting for a while on my Nexus 7 and even on my Nexus 5 is multiwindow which Samsung does a pretty good job with. Yes there are custom ROMs that enable this feature but I think I'm at that point where I don't want to mess with nightlies on my daily driver. I'll definitely be playing with them again when I replace my N5 though.

It's still a toss up between the G4 and the S6 for me at this moment as every review that comes out show that they're pretty neck and neck. In the end I'll probably end up getting an S6 just because it has the superior hardware (CPU, GPU, possibly display, and storage) so I get the most bang for my buck. My N5 will probably just be my device for tinkering if I ever need to play with the most recent Android version. The N5 is probably the best Nexus device I have used but I'm just having a phone itch that needs to be scratched. Lol.

In Korea right noe, suprisingly there are a lot of people using iPhones here. I thought you would be hung if you didn't use a Samsung

I agree that Sammy has integrated Material very well into their TW on my Note 4. The only slowness OS issue I have is the multi window button seems to lag and the picture preview but I can blame a nearly full 32GB micro SD card which is obviously N/A on the S6.

OK, I must be an idiot... I WANT to pay for it, but don't see ANYWHERE in the app to upgrade. How do I pay? I emailed their tech support, but this is stop #1 for problem resolution for me.

Getting ads, I got nothing in settings... Emailed them and they said I would see the offer to upgrade in the next day or two.

4.4.4 Textra settings (and I have tried all the sub menus to no avail):

Yeah after upgrading I saw the setting for Pro and that I'm already Pro. That should have done it for you if it brought up your Play account.

Asus Zenfone 2

$300 unlocked, 64GB memory, 4GB RAM, 5.5". But camera meh, UI fugly, bloated

ASUS Zenfone 2 Hands-On: Less Than Meets The Eye

Personally, bring on the unlocked phones!!! Give the high end some competition.

The reviews are all over the place for this phone and the Alcatel Idol 3. I think you have to put up with compromises.

The Zenphone seems to have better processing power and a great amount of RAM that helps it run smoothly, but the battery, camera, and bloatware are its downfall.

any confirmed news for the Note 5 edge yet?

I can upgrade now with Tmobile with Jump, if the note 5 edge does not get released soon, it will defeat the whole purpose of paying for the Tmobile Jump since the current phone will be paid off soon.

I'm still running Lollipop 5.0...

My wife was forced to upgrade, and she claims she is having no issues.

My battery life is crap and I have to restart the phone at least every other day, because when the screen is locked my numeric pad goes away.

Any of you S6 Edge folks using a case? I'm going to give this one from E.C.L the first try:

Amazon.com: Galaxy S6 Edge Case E.C.L USA® Crystal Clear Ultra Slim Perfect Fit Protective Case for Galaxy S6 Edge Anti-Scratch Sleek Hybrid Series Back Panel and Bumper Case. (Crystal Clear): Cell Phones & Accessories Amazon.com: Galaxy S6 Edge Case E.C.L USA® Crystal Clear Ultra Slim Perfect Fit Protective Case for Galaxy S6 Edge Anti-Scratch Sleek Hybrid Series Back Panel and Bumper Case. (Crystal Clear): Cell Phones & Accessories

The Spigen Neo (Hybrid and CC) both look nice as well as does the Ringke Fusion and the Urban Armor Gear case..

None offer much drop protection however.

Well, weirdness.

No notation of a pro account in settings, no charge to my Play store account, but no sponsored messages/ads...

I don't know what happened, but I am not complaining!

Shitty.. Rooted my LG G3 (5.0.1), installed G3 tweakbox, Xposed Framework wasnt installed, so I installed it. It said that the current version wasnt active or updated. The install/Update button was grayed out so I hit uninstall to try and re-do everything. It restarted and won't get passed the LG boot screen. Can't get it into safemode and when I get it into system recovery mode, I hit 'yes' to do a factory wipe, it restarts again and locks up at the LG boot screen again...

FML.. Any ideas? Am I going to reflash this damn thing?
