Factory images are out for the Nexus 6, 5, and 7 (2012) if you don't want to wait:
https://developers.google.com/androi...s/images?csw=1
Gonna go flash on my 7 (2012) and shortly on the 5 although I might wait cause I've been using Xposed on my 5.

It's been quite awhile since I've had the Sammy S3. And with me being eligible for an upgrade, I thought to give the incoming S6 Edge a shot...put in my preorder. Should arrive in early April.
Not sure if I'm that jazzed about the "side" screen but we'll see how useful that gimmick is.

So I ended up flashing 5.1 last night on my Nexus 5 (surprise. lol.) Its so much better than 5.0.1! The lag that builds up after use is gone. With 5.0.1, my phone would start to lag through the day after use and I would have to reboot every other day so that it would be smooth again. So far right now, I've been using my phone all day and its been lightning fast multitasking, turning the phone on and off and launching apps. It seems they really have fixed the memory leak because this phone feels like its brand new again!

That's good. I've had that problem many times where a fresh restart would be very much desired. Which of course means having to manually up the bluetooth volume nanny.

i'm too lazy right now to side load the new update, i'll just wait to let it update OTA.
I'm glad 5.1 has fixed these issues.
every one that hasnt gotten lolipop, be glad that we were the guinea pigs.

I have to use clean master at least 4 times a day to clear memory on 5.0 right now. Phone definitely lags as day goes on.

Manually downloaded the update (5.0.2) last night for my HTC One M7. Oops.
I restart my phone once a day anyway (out of habit), so maybe I won't notice the lag as much.

Yeah memory leak seems pretty much gone and a lot of others who had the lag are confirming the same thing. My Nexus 5 is still flying and I haven't rebooted at all since I've flashed 5.1. Usually by now things would start to lag a bit especially when multitasking. Roght now its so smooth. Its definitely what Lollipop was hyped to be when they first announced it. There's also more animations from Material Design that they put in that wasn't present in 5.0.x.

So the S6 and S6 Edge got really high marks on Displaymates testing and bests the Note 4 AMOLED screen which is their current top display:
http://www.displaymate.com/Galaxy_S6_ShootOut_1.htm
http://www.displaymate.com/Galaxy_S6_ShootOut_1.htm
We recently evaluated and rated the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus as the current Best Mobile LCD Displays, while the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 4 are the current Best Mobile OLED Displays. All are impressive and excellent displays with great state-of-the-art display technology. However, OLED displays have been advancing at a relentless and fast pace with a constant series of systematic and strategic improvements, while LCDs have been coasting on their laurels for years. So although OLEDs started from behind in 2010 they have now pulled ahead on performance and innovation based on the Lab test and measurement results reported here. To get back in the game and become more competitive, LCDs will need to adopt Quantum Dots and Dynamic Color Management.
The Galaxy S6 has more than double the resolution and more than 4 times the number of pixels as the iPhone 6. It also has significantly higher peak Brightness, significantly higher Contrast Ratio in both low and high Ambient Light, significantly higher Absolute Color Accuracy, significantly better Viewing Angel performance, and has 4 selectable screen modes instead of a single fixed one on the iPhones.

Good shit. Read between the S6 and Note 4. S6 tops it in many of the categories though slightly. Not bad for a 8 month release difference.

Still not a fan of AMOLED but I'll have to check out the S6/S6E screen.

i now have full bars at my house again. i never equated the 5.0/5.01 update with my poor service in my house.....i thought it was a carrier problem.
but now that i think about it, i started getting poor signal after i updated to 5.01.
i'm so glad!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeez, haha I JUST got 5.0.2. (HTC One M7 / T-Mobile)
I'm...personally not a fan of Lollipop's "Material" aesthetic. In fact, I like ICS' "Holo" theme the best.

They also have one for the M8. With that said, stock Android Lollipop looks pretty damn good and its still kind of a mystery why these OEMs waste their resources reskinning it instead of focusing on updates.

Have you guys tried out YouTube 360 yet? Its pretty cool:
Open the videos on the YouTube App. Your phone needs to have a gyro I believe for you to pan around.

First glitch from Note 4. Put it to charge last night and woke up to 34% after 6 hours. Immediately restarted the phone and let it fast charge for about 15 mins. Plus with a charge 40 mins in the car got it up to 89%. Hadn't restarted it for a few days. Still on 4.4.4

Installed 5.1 last night...havent had much time with it so far but I will say the transitions are faster and the data speed for the google map has gone up significantly even in areas where it used to lag ( traffic and "around houston" information are the two I was using)... the camera still hiccuped once last night and would not start up when requested...
Oliver!!!
I resurrected the S4 from the grave The Note was just too big. Lots to like about it though. Think I'm going to go with the S6 when it comes out. The lack of removable battery and storage bugged me until I though about it. I haven't had a second battery for my phone since my Ericsson 388. Transitioning to the Note 4 was incredibly easy. The only thing I lost was some progress in a game that I don't really play anyway. Everything else was either in the cloud or MyCloud. I like having Titanium Backup, but for my purposes I may not need it anymore.

The S6 does look nice spec-wise. Can't wait to hear the reviews. The Note line isn't for everyone. Let us know how the S6 compares

So why has the OTA for 5.1 not hit the Nexus 6 yet when it is rolling out for the 5 already? I know I could load it myself but my schedule is so busy right now I just don't have the time until probably Easter weekend.

most likely to iron out the last few bugs.
it's been reported that the Nexus 5 still has a memory leak with new 5.1 update.

Already can see an improvement in battery life with 5.1 on my N5, but anything is an improvement so I'll take it.

That's probably because HTC half-assed their Lollipop update on the M7 and M8. Its basically still using ICS/Kitkat designs on Lollipop which make it clash. They didn't even update the icons to match Material Design. They waited to update the feel on Sense 7 which is available on the M9 and in the future on the M8. The M7 probably won't get it officially. If you do want to try Sense 7, they do have ROMs that are based on it and they look much better aesthetic wise:
[ROM][9-3]SD v 1 |Sense7 Port | SDkernel | S… | HTC One | XDA Forums
They also have one for the M8. With that said, stock Android Lollipop looks pretty damn good and its still kind of a mystery why these OEMs waste their resources reskinning it instead of focusing on updates.

Son of a bitch.
Then again, the two years' of support/updates from HTC is up.
HTC not upgrading One M7 to Android 5.1, and owners are mad - SlashGear

Yeah I don't think my Galaxy is getting it anytime soon.

Just flash your M7 to the GPE to get the continued updates.
Two questions:
Any rootfree WiFi tether for Note 4 on ATT?
And for those who have the Note 4, is the Samsung - Gear VR worth it? I've seen some cardboard ones sold for like $25

Picked up an S5 yesterday, so far I'm pretty impressed. Runs nice and smooth on Kit Kat...
