Android: Phone News and Discussion Thread
Video made by idiots... It's a whole new concept of a phone where one side is a continuation of the screen.. like DUH it will break. Test a regular S6, not the edge, geniuses.

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge tops our blind camera comparison, HTC One M9 lags behind
One of the many reasons to get a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge is that its outstanding camera will be at your disposal at all times. Seriously, the 16MP snapper excels at taking photos, as we said in our Galaxy S6 edge review. Our readers seem to like its performance as well – The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge won our last blind camera comparison, and it won it by a mile ahead of the runner up. In fact, Samsung's curvy flagship collected more votes than all three other phones combined!
In second place, we have the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which also performed pretty well, but not well enough to truly wow our readers. Then we have the HTC One M9 winning the bronze. HTC's new flagship did a great job in daytime, but couldn't outpace the competition in the low-light scenes. The iPhone 6 collected 47 votes less than the One M9, which put it in fourth place.
Surprised by the results? We aren't, to be honest. The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge impressed us with its camera performance as we were giving it the review treatment, and it's going to take some serious camera power to outrun it. As for the HTC One M9, it appears to be performing well only under favorable conditions. Is the camera to blame or the software behind it? We can only guess.
That's all we have to say for now, but in the very near future, we'll follow up with a post adding more images to the comparison, along with our opinion on how the cameras performed in each scene. Until then, here's another look at the images used in the comparison and the votes that they collected.
Final results:
1. Samsung Galaxy S6 edge – 19599 votes
2. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 – 7062 votes
3. HTC One M9 – 4956 votes
4. iPhone 6 – 4909 votes

Some low light and daylight UHD-4K videos. Probably NSFW!!!
Audio sounds really good. These were taken at a night club. You can almost make out the conversations. I wonder if the S6 has a dual membrane mic like the Nokia and HTC phones because when I record video on my M7 it sounds like this in loud environments.

Great reviews on S6. Why didn't you go Edge out of curiousity?

partially budget... i'm just looking to get back into a droid and i'm not sure i'll use the edge customization to its fullest potential... for the $100, I wasn't sure it was worth it for me...
unless i'm totally missing something here... what else does the edge have besides the screen and a slightly bigger battery?

HTC One M9 has been ordered. I should have it by Monday. Will review.
Don't care about the cameras.

more importantly I went for a newer hopefully more efficient platform... my i5 was already swapped out for the battery recall but this phone still needs two charges a day...

Granted I am a heavy user. Even this 6P lasts me from 7-4pm before needing a charge, where most people I know say theirs lasts them 2 days.

if i forget to charge it at the office and have like 30% going home and all of a sudden plans change and i'm headed out for the evening, that 30% goes quickly.
this way, I always know I'll be fully topped and will have a full battery to take pics of the shenanigans that I get into that night
it literally is a brick tho. i found if I carry it in a man purse, its not so bad.

I'll post my impressions when I get it. Regardless, I'm sure it will be a huge step up from my current S3 which was a huge step up from the HTC Desire.

Can someone recommend me a good free music downloader?

I don't really root. Guess it depends. I think for ATT Note 4 there's no way but I really don't know nor care. TW is fine for me and I love my phone. I don't need a funky cursive font but it's not as restrictive as iOS was which I hated.

I was at a Future Shop (well... now Best Buy lol) and they had a demo there (a real one, not dummy phone) and it felt really good in my hand. The only thing I'd worry about is the glass, because I think in order to protect it, you're pretty much down to the flip case, a regular case would really only cover the back. I'm not a fan of the flip cover/case... I had one for the Note 3 and sold it

Looking forward to your impressions of the M9. I'm still 100% happy with my M7, but it doesn't hurt to keep an eye out for the future.
Are you talking about the Themes? The number of customization options is pretty neat. The Theme maker website is on the clunky side, though.

^Nvm, I thought Home and Themes were the same. Nah, I haven't had much use for Home. I can see how handy it can be, but I have no need for it.
Safety Car
Played around with the themes on my M7 but haven't really found one that stood out from the rest. Most of the ones that are out there are just wallpaper changes or a different font...Maybe I haven't really dove deep into it yet. I do like how they changed the back of the Home launcher to a deep blue instead of black. I wish the dialer would get a change because the black just clashes hard with Material Design. That's wishful thinking at this point for the M7 and I'm sure there's probably a tweak on XDA which you can do exactly that.

I had one major gripe and it was the placement of the Power Button. I thought it was too damn low. I mean Samsung has been putting their Power Button on the top right for as long as I can remember and for whatever reason they put it right in the middle on this phone. By doing that, its your middle finger hitting the power button instead of the index finger. I'm sure eventually you'd get used to it.
With all of that said, I think I am going to get the regular S6 once my contract ends next month. The Edge screen was nice but it doesn't really do much yet and it was a little odd to hold because of the tapered thinner edge although a case would probably help in that situation.

You can see how the throttling of the S810 just destroys the value of this phone.

So a bunch of images leaked for the LG G4 the other day:

Not sure how I feel about the phone yet. Camera is supposed to be a f/1.8 aperture but not much else mentioned about it yet. Would like to see how it looks in real life compared to the other devices out there but the removable 3,000 mAh battery and microSD card is there for the power users. The back cover also looks interchangeable so that would be nice if you want to change the look of your phone every now and then.
