Wow. Who better to know than Jordan's teammate.

Another thing I forgot to add is its impossible to compare era's for many many reasons one big one being that today's NBA is watered down in reality there aren't that many players in todays game that could survive in Jordan's era where hard fouls were permitted, were hand checks were permitted and so many more things that the NBA doesn't allow anymore. Honestly if Jordan was in his prime now with these rules he might score 100.
Scottie should stick to Real Housewife of Miami because you see how many he won without Jordan.

And of course, Kobe is better than MJ too.
But, since he's outta the playoffs, may as well talk about LeBron being better than MJ. First question: How many rings does LeBron have? Oh okay. And next question, one year of advancing because one has a super-stacked team does not equate to being in the same convo as MJ.
I love what Rose does but I don't even dare to think of him in the same sentence as MJ. Pippen, as great as a player as he is, is ...

WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!?!??
Sorry...LeBron is the greatest. EVER. Like I said, this LeHeat team makes the 1st Dream Team look like a bunch of 4 foot Asians trying to play basketball. Yeah, they can't.

I'd actually think asking James Worthy is more valid. He's played with Mike and Magic, and Lebron is more similar to Magic than Mike. He'd probably have a good perspective. In the end, Worthy would probably pick Magic as the greatest ever and would pick Kareem Abdul Jabbar as the greatest scorer ever.
Anyway...I like Lebron's physicality and what his game is finally blossoming into with a good team. I don't like him necessarily, but I can see what he is turning into.
He's got alot to live up to though:

Pip is ignoring a lot of the history of the NBA by saying Lebron are 'greatest' at anything. I'm not sure Lebron is in that discussion yet given the people there ahead of him (I'd put Kobe and Shaq maybe at the end of that list as well).

Beef is better than LeBron right now. That's a no-brainer.
But, once LeBron wins the next 25 titles as I predicted, he will be the greatest human the world has ever seen.
Even more so than Steve Jobs.

I don't think Beef was better this year because of how clutch, efficient, and outstanding LeBron has played. But then Yum will throw in the whole he had Wade and the Lakers help are 4 foot Asians. I dont agree with Pippen but Wilbon on the radio said LeBron could be better than MJ later. But then Yum and his legion will cry he had Wade even though MJ had Pippen even if LeBron outrings him. It's not worth arguing yet IMO

Pippen has already backtracked from his earlier statement I think he came down off of his high and realized how stupid that statement was.

Jordan isn't the greatest scorer ever IMO. Most gifted perimeter player at scoring, absolutely....but not the best scorer.

As for him versus Beef, whatever. Toss-up for me...both are amazing players. Just not in MJ's stratosphere...

I don't really have a criteria...the prevailing opinion is Mike is the greatest scorer ever, but I personally can't exclude Wilt or Kareem from that conversation.

So, Beef can't be better than Kobe. C'mon, man!
But, I get what you mean.
And yes, what you said...aside from the name mix-up...is what I meant: Up to this point career-wise, LeBron is not better than Beef.

Kareem responds to Scottie Pippen's assertions about both Lebron and MJ.
http://lakersblog.latimes.com/lakers...t-player-.html
I disagree that the league was better when there were 8 teams though....more people play basketball now, so there is more 'crop' from which to pick the cream of the crop. However, when saying 'greatest ever' be it scoring or be it ever ever, Bill Russell's got 11 rings, and Wilt's scoring was vastly better than MJ.

Dear Scottie,
I have nothing but respect for you my friend as an athlete and knowledgeable basketball mind. But you are way off in your assessment of who is the greatest player of all time and the greatest scorer of all time. Your comments are off because of your limited perspective. You obviously never saw Wilt Chamberlain play who undoubtedly was the greatest scorer this game has ever known. When did MJ ever average 50.4 points per game plus 25.7 rebounds? (Wilt in the 1962 season when blocked shot statistics were not kept). We will never accurately know how many shots Wilt blocked. Oh, by the way in 1967 and 68, Wilt was a league leader in assists. Did MJ ever score 100 points in a game? How many times did MJ score more than 60 points in a game? MJ led the league in scoring in consecutive seasons for 10 years but he did this in an NBA that eventually expanded into 30 teams vs. when Wilt played and there were only 8 teams.
Every team had the opportunity to amass a solid nucleus. Only the cream of the basketball world got to play then. So MJ has to be appraised in perspective. His incredible athletic ability, charisma and leadership on the court helped to make basketball popular around the world -- no question about that. But in terms of greatness, MJ has to take a backseat to The Stilt.
In terms of winning, Michael excelled as both an emotional and scoring leader but Bill Russell’s Celtics won eight consecutive NBA Championships. Bill's rebounding average per game is over 22.5 lifetime, MJs best rebounding years was eight per game (1989). But we will never know exactly how many shots Bill Russell blocked because again, they never kept that statistic while he played. However, if you ask anybody that played against Russell, they will just roll their eyes and say he blocked all the shots he wanted to block in the crucial moments of a game.
Bill played on a total of 11 championship teams and as you very well know, Scottie, the ring is the thing, and everything else is just statistics. So I would advise you to do a little homework before crowning Michael or LeBron with the title of best ever. As dominant as he is, LeBron has yet to win a championship. I must say that it looks like Miami has finally put the team together that will change that circumstance. Its my hope that today’s players get a better perspective on exactly what has been done in this league in the days of yore.
Affectionately,
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar,
NBA’s All-Time Leading Scorer
