Man I stayed up for that Thunder game so that was like 1:40 local. Cuban coffee FTMFW. Very exciting game but holy shit Westbrook and Durant hit some shots. Vasquez's prayer and Conley's game tying shot. Zach had to have been tired missing those inside shots. Great game and looking forward to this series.

That other game was pretty exciting too. As I had hoped we took one on the road and now we gotta win one more. That 4th quarter was all James. That 3 with the Celtics in his ear and Pierce in his face was an amazing shot. The fadeaway, the layup, all fantastic shots. That shot by Wade that was initially a 3. Bosh had a great game and shut down Garnett (I think 1-10). Plus that tip in where he was yelling like an ass really helped his confidence and we hope to see more of that. Glad we won a tight game against a team with a rep to win tight games.

The playoffs are fun without the lakers? : what:

Those were some insane games yesterday...I really like the teams that are underdogs, a couple haven't been this far, so its great to see some new franchises get a chance.

Two OT Playoff games in one night = awesome.

Anyhow, watched the games with my friend (and avid Boston C's fan), who kept saying that the C's traded away a legitimate shot at the Championships when they traded Perkins. I never bought into the criticism for that trade, but coming down the stretch having a viable big man probably would've helped them out.

Yeah because Big Baby was benched and Krstic has been DNP'ed. I've heard criticism of Perkins though so it's an argument of his injury making him ineffective or maybe he worked in Boston's system better. I guess given their start more the latter versus the former.

Boston gambled on trading Perkins because he's will be a free agent and he had made it known that he was looking to get paid. The C's on the other hand had no intention of giving him a big payout and hedging thinking Shaq and J O'Neal would be back they thought they could pull it off but we see how that's turning out.

Honestly I think the mental part of losing a close teammate and feeling betrayed that the team traded him had a more negative effect on the players than losing him on the court.

Bingo. Ainge didn't take that into account, but you don't screw with the chemistry of a title contender (especially one with a short shelf life) down the stretch of the season.

WTF was that small-ball crap they were playing for most of the 2nd half?!? 2 PGs and no Center?

They actually showed a pretty good shot of Danny Ainge in the audience, doing a double-facepalm. I thought that was pretty appropriate.

But if you're a mid 30's vet in the NBA used to the business of the NBA, does trading a friend really affect you? I don't think the Boston 3 really were affected. The overall team yeah because the O'Neals are a combined age of 106.

^ I don't think it affected the C's big 3, but there has always been cohesion issues - look at Rondo (formerly branded as "uncoachable" and other players).

IF anything, watching Shaq on the Court is painful - he's clearly past his prime, and its hard for him to even run back on defense, let alone stay in shape.

Nevermind prime or not. It was just painful to watch Shaq. Robert Parish was way past his prime when Jackson called him out of retirement with the Celtics. He was already a few years remove from playing.

Anyhow, The Chief was far from prime, but it was an enjoyment to see an old man playing the game. I recall he offered nothing other than 6 fouls, and being 7'2". It was still great to see him play.

X2. But I also think Boston had to do it. There was no one backing up Paul Pierce. So they got Jeff Green. That's not working out now. Back then, I'm sure Boston see either Kobe or James standing in their way.

PP can not play all 48 mins. So the trade "was good" in theory. Boston had a stockpile of Bigs (old, broken, or not), but no back up for PP.

Atlanta Hawks in 7...!

Rose had another terrific game and put the team on his back...But, the D really came on in the 4th and strangled the Atlanta offense. Nice game by Chicago. For a bit, I thought the Hawks were about to blow the game open...

Andrew "The Linebacker" Bynum suspended for 5 games...

From Chicagosports.com...

Lakers center Andrew Bynum has been suspended for five games next season for his flagrant foul on Dallas guard J.J. Barea in Los Angeles' final playoff game.

The NBA announced the suspension Tuesday, two days after Bynum was ejected for the foul late in the two-time defending champions' 36-point loss to the Mavericks in Game 4. The league also fined Bynum $25,000 for ripping off his jersey while heading to the locker room, which means the suspension will cost Bynum more than $700,000.

Bynum expressed contrition for the episode after his exit interview at the Lakers' training complex earlier Tuesday, saying the foul was "terrible" and "unacceptable."

Bynum said his actions "don't represent me, my upbringing, this franchise or any of the Laker fans out there that want to watch us and want us to succeed," Bynum said. "I want to actually apologize to J.J. Barea for doing that. I'm just glad that he wasn't seriously injured in the event. All I can say is, I've looked at (a replay), it's terrible, and it definitely won't be happening again."

Bynum hit Barea with a flying elbow in the ribs while the Dallas guard drove to the basket for a layup in the fourth quarter. Barea wasn't seriously hurt, but he stayed down for an extended time while Bynum left the court.

Bynum was suspended for two games in March for a hard foul on Minnesota's Michael Beasley under the basket, although that foul didn't have the same element of pure malice that even Bynum acknowledged in his foul on Barea.

Bynum said he was frustrated by the Lakers' awful performance in an elimination game, falling far behind in the first half and never contending. He was less apologetic about the foul immediately after it happened, saying he was frustrated by the Mavericks guards repeatedly driving the lane for baskets.

Bynum said he has tried to get in contact with Barea to apologize personally, but hasn't been able to reach him yet.

Forward Ron Artest was suspended for Game 3 of the series after a hard foul on Barea late in Game 2. Artest said Tuesday that he disagreed with his suspension.

"What are you going to do? You've got a guy who's 5-2," Artest jokingly said of the 6-foot Barea. "I extend, and he's straight up, like a broomstick, and his face was in my palm. When it happened, I was like, 'Oh boy. Are you all right, young fella?' And then I was ejected. ... It was unfortunate, the ejection and suspension. It wasn't right. It wasn't right. It shouldn't have happened."

Agreed on both counts.

If Rondo was the guy that put it together on the offensive end, Perkins was the same on defense....pushed the other team's big guys out of the paint and knocked little guard down if they drove. Its not just the big 3, but the entire team. What you're seeing now from that team isn't the team that won a championship or challenged the Lakers last year. That era is done.

And Snaq....its kinda sad to see him playing now. Kareem, Robert Parish, James Edwards, and a couple of other lanky centers could last until Shaq's age, but Shaq is a completely different body type. Fat and old don't mix too well on the court.

But as the cliche goes, Laker fans favorite teams are a) the Lakers and b) whomever is playing the Celtics.

Pretty much man. Its not just the Lakers that feel that way. Its a 2 way street....I'm pretty sure Boston feels the same way about us (Laker fans). its the only real rivalry the Lakers have IMO.

Hey now, its not just Laker fans...here was the send off Boston had for the Sixers when the Sixers beat them in the Eastern Conference finals in 83, I believe. They wanted the Sixers to 'Beat LA'...lol.

I think its kinda cool...when rivalries were really heated. There was no social media or internet to know how others regions of the country felt about each other, at least sportwise. So I think this was really eye opening to me.

I was actually 8 when it happened, watching with my dad to see who the Lakers would play for the championship. I really respected the Boston-LA rivalry at that point, and this really just lent itself to that....they cared as equally as Laker fans did.

Its not jumping from one bandwagon to another, like its being implied , its a rivalry thing.

Go Heat!
