Got home from Chicago last night. Got to watch the Reds beat up on the Cubs on Friday and Saturday afternoons
I bet there was 60% Cubs fans to 40% Reds fans in the place, maybe more. Reminded me of Great American Ballpark around 2003 when the Cubs were good and we sucked.
Nothing but all red in some sections, and the place was jumping whenever we scored. Seemed like 20 m.p.h. sustained winds blowing in from left field.

It was only a matter of time before Felix pulled it off. Hes a beast.
I thought something was up with him. He looked like he bulked up quite a bit.
I mean, he was big with the Yankees, but he looked chunky more then anything. This year he looked like hes been living in the gym.

Any thoughts on the whole Strasburg shutdown thing? Unless they win the WS, people will be calling for upper management heads for not handling it differently.
Everyone will focus on it, even though it obviously might not have mattered if he was in there or not. The question will always be there, and people and the media will run with it for as long as they can.

I think they should have started spacing out his starts, or limiting his innings/pitches from the beginning of the year so he wouldn't need to be shut down. He's an ace, not a 5th starter.
I'm not saying the pitches/innings limits are right or wrong, but they are obviously firm about it, and I think they messed up pretty bad.

The problem with spacing starts is the whole arm cool down rhythm thing. For whatever reason I guess careers last longest with the pitching every 5 days thing. They don't want to have a Cubs situation where their potential career long ace is damaged goods. Once you shut him down you shut him down.

He should be a 16 game winner at least.
And Melky...well he's screwed. I liked him when he was on the Yankees.

Heard today listening to the Reds game that Alfonso Soriano turned down two different trades to go to the Giants. One before the trade deadline, and one right after the Melky suspension. Not sure why you wouldn't want to get out of that hell hole and go to a contender, but my theory is he's afraid of his offensive and defensive numbers suffering having to play at AT&T Park
Also heard of the 7 year deal they're giving to Starlin Castro...they better hope he matures soon!

Also, Todd Frasier better get Rookie of the Year. Hitting around .285 with 17 homers while playing 3B, LF, and filling in flawlessly at 1B while Votto has been out. Guy is clutch and has good power...he hit one the other day that was ~475 to dead center
He's got a funky batting stance but it works for him!

And on Castro being the real deal.

And I think the Castro deal was solid. He's gonna be really good. They were wise to lock him up for 7-8 years.
Soriano's quote: moron
"I don't think so, because San Francisco is not good weather to play," Soriano said. "It's on the West Coast, and I never played on the West Coast. But we'll see what happens. I'll see if they call and talk with my family to see. It's not my call. So I want to talk with my family in case they call and see what happens."

Thank goodness A-Ram is no longer a Cub...

That quote...
You just get the feeling that he could care less about the game or his team. He's just there to collect his paycheck. Yes his team sucks bad but still, most people will still play to win every game because they hate losing. Maybe I'm wrong but the guy makes me sick.

Melky is a fucking idiot. That stunt was pathetic.

Bartolo Colon busted. The drug policy still has problems, and will until they get rid of the random testing. It just doesn't work with a guy like him that has absolutely nothing to lose, and has probably been doping since his comeback however many months ago that was. Yes he got caught, but how long has he been doping and playing?
I also wonder if these guys have been using something that has not, until now, been detected by the tests?

The way he pitched for the Yankees, I always thought colon was on something. Thought it would be some undetectable exotic substance from the jungle.
BTW who wants to take bets if the Yankees make the playoff's. Sad state they are in right now. 9 game lead to 2.5 game lead in a month. Horrible. And they still have a bunch of games to play with Tampa & Baltimore.

He did do that whole stem-cells in the shoulder thing before his latest comeback, so who knows what else the guy has done, or any other players. I have no faith in the drug testing...these drug makers are always a step ahead of the testing
As for the Yanks, they could still pull off a trade...I hear Cliff Lee has already passed waivers
