Astros did not make a move and are fading fast! But they are still my team. Maybe next year. I just dont get how easily the cards bolstered their lineup.

Not sure what I think about the Rolen deal. I am glad that Edwin Encarnacion is gone though...good riddance. If the Jays are smart they won't use him as a 3B because he has the most inaccurate arm evar

Giants win three of four from the Phillies and new acquisition Freddy Sanchez makes an immediate impact. I liked what I saw of his approach at the plate. The NL wild card should be interesting right down to the wire this year.

Speaking of instant impact at Holliday. I think he's batting like .600.

He'll probably need almost 2 years before he's 100% again. He'll come back, and then sit for 3-5 months.

NEW YORK -- Blue Jays outfielder Alex Rios has been claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox, sending him to a contending team and giving Toronto financial flexibility.

Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi announced the move Monday night, about 30 minutes before the Blue Jays were scheduled to play the New York Yankees. Rios was in the initial starting lineup when he learned the news.

Toronto did not receive any compensation for the two-time All-Star, who is batting .264 with 14 homers and 62 RBIs in 108 games.

The 28-year-old Rios signed a seven-year contract with the Blue Jays in April 2008 that guarantees him $69,835,000.

Chicago began the night three games back of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central.

Not sure, but from what I heard, they did not think they would get any takers and then they would be stuck paying him even more money.

Seems odd. He is young and was an all-star the past 2 years. They could have def traded him to a contender at the break. Unless they know something we don't

Should've did this with Vernon Wells instead (not that he would probably have any takers).

In fact, they shouldn't have signed him to such a retarded contract

Maybe they were trading him since you can trade until 8/31 after a player clears waivers but someone had a claim on him.

Rios is a good player. he's just really lazy and doesn't seem to care about winning. his only ambition was to get a long term deal. once he got that, he was just here for the ride. he has a lot of potential and we'll see if chicago can bring it out. he frustrated Jay fans by showing glimpses of what he can do but would not do it consistently

Rios' salary was ridiculous for his stats the past 2 years. He's had a few incidents with fans in the T.O area one that made its rounds on youtube.

Toronto is going no where with or without him so dumping his salary is a good move.

In Chicago they should put Rios in CF where at the very least he'll be a good defensive player like VDub used to be for the Jays.

What I thought when I saw him get slung down.

I will never understand the helmet throwing approach to charging the mound. :ghey:

This is for the little faggot who thought it was cool to throw his drink on Shane Victorino just as he was about to make a catch at last night's Phillies/Cubs game at Wrigley. You think you're fucking cool throwing your drink on a player, especially when he's making a fucking catch?! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?! Just because your team sucks ass hasn't won a World Series in over 100 years doesn't give you the right to mess with the players of the opposing team. You fucking retard you better be glad you live all the way in fucking Chicago because if you pulled that shit in Philly you'd be face down in the Delaware River while Mayor Nutter gives a medal to the mob that killed your bitch ass. Take your sand filled vagina and go watch the games somewhere else, the ballpark is obviously above your standards.

sorry guys, had to get that out of my system.
