MLB: 2009 Season Discussion Thread **Dodgers Acquire Thome, Garland (page 16)**

Okay folks...Opening Day is nearly upon us. Post all trash-talk (i.e. Minny Twips sucks, St. Louis Cards sucks...and Cincy Reds REALLY SUCK) and commentary (i.e. no more players like Flaxseed and Clemroids, yay!) in here...

I love the Brewers, but it'll take a nothing short of a miracle to get to the playoff again after our losses to the pitching staff this off season.

Up side is the Cubs were swept in the playoff two years in a row...

Anybody noticed the dropping ticket/concession/etc prices?

My company has some games that are half priced tickets...I'll be taking full advantage of that this year.

Predictions: Giants win the NL West, Tim Lincecum wins 20, you all know who Buster Posey, Pablo Sandoval and Emmanuel Burriss are at the end of the season.

My sleeper team this year is Cincy.

I don't think SanFran has the offense yet.

I think the Mets are going to win it all. Daniel Murphy is better than you think. Wright is going to have a monster year. Great bullpen. They just need Pelfrey to step up his game.

Starting rotation could be the Mets downfall, but the back end of that bullpen, yowza. JJ Putz as your setup guy? Holy crap!

Agree about the Giants offense but it will be better this year, and with their pitching it might be enough to win the weak west. Sandoval can flat rake, and Fred Lewis will continue to improve (he can hit), and Burriss will show something too, IMO. Speedy with a good bat.

Yea, that's why i said it all depends on Pelfry.

Also why I said "yet"

Your offense is very weak. You have no one that will get you over 20 HRs except Bay. Your pitching isn't bad, especially your starters. You may want to trade one of your top starters for two good closers or a closer and a hitter.
