Weak. I was all hyped up to see Josh shut down the Yankees again.

JC bailed, so I took a friend. We were running way late then we heard the delay, so we took our time. They called the game off before we even got to the highway.

Rescheduled for a friday afternoon in August. I had been given 4 tickets by a lawyer I work with, who had been given 6 corporate tickets by a friend. I just went in her office and offered them all back. She thanked me for the offer and took two back so she could bring her kids, letting me keep two. Not bad - I still get to go and I look like a good guy for offering them right back (she's a well connected local lawyer who has been sort of a mentor/friend for me, so keeping all 4 like nothing happened wasn't an option).

Maybe she'll offer you some more in the future??

My dad gets the same sort of deal. A guy we play softball with works for a car dealership that gives away tickets whenever someone buys a car. Whenever someone doesn't want them, guess who goes

Oh and does Dougie really not wear a cup when he catches Wakefield? And if so, I'm assuming he never wears a cup??

I think he just forgot it or didn't have one for that one game. I hope.

Still that's pretty crazy. And here I think I'm brave playing third base without a cup

You can't blame him for trying - every cut he took the other night was with everything he had. He almost fell over on a couple of strikes.

Well, she just walked away from my desk after asking for the tickets back. I guess the guy who gave them to her asked for them. It was fun while it lasted. At least I was promised a pair of tickets in those same seats for another game.

You're a good man Charlie Brown...

These types of things tend to pay off in future dividends... and I'm not talking about that Karma crap/job offers, etc... Networking for Sox tickets (especially for hoity-toity corporate seats) is a full time occupation for some people...

From a work related email I just got:

You are a good man, Charlie Brown!
Thank you!

Richard

Got free tickets to the Reds-Phillies game Friday night. The weather sucked balls but it was a good time anyways. They played like crap and lost Here's some pics I snapped...

Heckling Dunn before the game

Griffey Jr. (left) and Felipe Lopez...

One of the later innings. Apparently my camera phone didn't like the lights. I was surprised how many people were there for such a crappy weather night.

Our seats were about 15 rows up from the dugout in that aisle. No foul balls though

They started their rookie, Cole Hammel. It was his first ever start. He's gonna be damn good in a couple years...he 1-hit us through almost 6 innings and the only reason they took him out was because his pitch count was up near 90...

Oh and something happend I've never seen before...

In the top of the ninth the Phillies had two men on with 1 out. They were winning by I think 5. The pitcher was up so they pinch hit. Well the pinch hitter ended up being Jon Leiber, who was scheduled to start the next day (which he did)...

I just thought out of all the people on the bench, why would you put him in? I know they were trying to not run up the score, but still...

Am I the only one that thinks it's weird? What if he takes a pitch off the head, then you lose your next-day starter Just didn't seem smart to me...

Because if by miracle they come back you don't waste any of the other pitchers that might pitch later or an actual pinch hitter that you needed later in the field.

That stadium is pretty nice btw. Next time bring the digital.

Yeah that makes sense. I'm still not sure if I would use my next day starter though because of the injury risk. I would probably go with the previous day starter if it was me since he wouldn't be much use out of the bullpen if he was needed

And I was going to borrow my sisters camera but it was a last second thing that we were going. I wish I had it now, I could've got some nice shots of Aaron Rowand's nose

Next time though

Oh and it's spelled Cole Hamels. My bad

If you like watching the pitcher intentionally walk the .180 hitting #8 hitter in the fourth inning so he can face the .080 hitting pitcher. I think pitchers should have to hit just like everybody else. However, with about 2 exceptions, they CAN'T hit, so I like the DH.

Please, I can manage an AL team, so much more involved in the NL. It makes clearing the pitcher spot in the order so much more important. You have the pitcher actually making an impact in the game he is trying to win. NL is just better baseball.

The AL is only more interesting if all you like to see are guys mash the ball, if you enjoy the strategy...NL>AL

And meanwhile, The Cubbies are stinking it up again. WTF.

Gotta love popgun offenses with 2 supposed stud pitchers out until I turn 80. And when Wood does return, he'll start 2 games and then have another problem with his arm and then repeat the process.

Thank gawd I also cheer for the ChiSox.

Please, God, tell me Josh's blisters aren't coming back.

Hell of an outing for his 26th. I'll talk to him tomorrow and see what got into him with Tejada. Other than that, he was seriously good tonight. He was on the gun at 98 pitch after pitch.

Cubs suck, Trib wont do shit, I hate being a Cubs fan. Misery after more misery upon more misery. and it never ends. happy 98th anniversary, Cubs fans. I honestly wish the Sox would sweep the Cubs this weekend, but it wouldnt do shit, the Tribune still sells its fucking tickets. Fuck this team.

Yeah, I missed most of the game, but what I did see was encouraging (including a 6 pitch 6th)...

You calling me a drama queen, punk?

I was just commenting on how they perpetually stink...I don't see much Xenogening/pgatour1ing on my part.

Besides, I also root for the ChiSox and so, I'm all good.

Well, the Royals won the WS in '85 and the Pirates in '79. The Cubs? 1908. So, you tell me who has a longer suffering fanbase.

Says who?

I've always rooted for both Chicago teams. So, this has nothing to do with them winning the WS. Although, I do wonder if this is why I exiled myself from the Windy City to avoid the angry mobs for being a two-teamer.
