Are you going to pick your team and stick with it throughout the year? Or are you going to root for both sides? North or South, not both.

Well, here's hoping the Big Z can find the strikezone in his next outing...he was today. Mind you Cincy was worse...but still...

Yeah batting practice....

Some good things though.
RJ was consistant. He had is control, & speed.
Bernie showing he's improved his hitting. Taking him from the outfield has done some good.
That 1-6 batting order is a killer.
Cano picked up where he left off. Although since he was caught stealling I wonder if his speed has suffered.

Cano was never really that fast , he has above average speed but he won't be stealing 30 bases regardless. That throw from Kendall would of gotten anybody out, it was a sick throw. Matsui's homer was awesome it was a shot and looked effortless. Damon seemed a bit nervous for his 1st game but he looked good.

Gooden sentenced to year in prison for drug use
Associated Press

TAMPA, Fla. -- Former baseball star Dwight Gooden was sentenced Wednesday to a year and a day in prison for violating his probation by using cocaine, the latest legal trouble for the once-dominant pitcher.

With credit for time already served in jail and a drug treatment facility, Gooden likely will spend about 7½ months in state prison, said his attorney, Peter Hobson.

It's a shame him and Strawberry couldn't get their act together, they both could of been hall of famers.

I'm surprised no Cubs or Sox fans have chimed in on Nomar back on the DL. What a . Jim Rome said his wife is the athlete in the family.

I was going to post about that, but didn't want to beat a dead horse... when has nomar NOT been on the DL for at least some time in the past 4 years...

In other ex-sox news, Bronson Arroyo has more homeruns (1) this season then Wily Mo Pena

Rain delayed the Orioles-Red Sox game last Saturday. Boston won (2-1)... I think was there too.

People need to see it. He was talking about when, exactly, the world is going to end and explaining how he "astral travels" and "skips through time". It was really pretty funny. The guy is so far gone.

Steroids leaked into his brain maybe?

But Coco is out for a bit... It's hard to get excited about one thing while worrying about the other...

But Youk (with his "Money Ball" on base percentage) is batting leadoff for the home opener

Especially if the starting pitching keeps this up. Beckett had a good outing today in his Fenway debut. ...even if his K total wasn't much to brag about

Opening Day for the Sox is like a holiday for us Massholes...Beckett tends to have a record of having a little bit of a tough start to games, but he definitely has great stuff. Like we saw in game 6 of the 2003 ws, cg 5 hits, 2 bb with 9 k's against a very potent Yankees lineup. Lets not forget that he was 22 when he came through in the ws.

I'm hoping Beckett has a solid season (he's on my fantasy team). He's always pitched well when healthy but I don't know any other pitcher who has frequent blister problems like he does. Hopefully he can get that figured out and put together a 32-to-34-starts season for a change. Meh about the WS game back in 2003 ... sorry to say but I abide by the "what have you done for me lately" doctrine, which is suitable because Beckett's pitching for a new team, a new league, and for some serious money. Sure, he was awesome during those playoffs but it's 2006 now and he's gotta execute (a la Schilling after joining the BoSox from AZ).
