Best games of the weekend were the NY and Chi-Town series. All NY games down to the wire and nothing beats a brawl and shit talking over in Chi-Town. The Yanks are struggling I'm hoping than stay pretty close till atleast Sheffield gets back hopefully make a trade down the road for starters. Chacon, Smalls, Johnson suck ass right now.

Alex will get you 30+ homers and 100+ RBI guaranteed so it's difficult to let him go for a pitcher you never know what you gonna get ( Pavano ) . I'd get rid of Randy Johnson in a heart beat I wanted him gone last year.

Went to the Reds/Brewers game last night with my brother and brother-in-law...
Somehow they lost to the Brewers. I'm now 0-2 on games I've attended this year.
It was Felipe Lopez bobblehead night and he didn't even start He finally came in about the 8th inning as a PH.
Anyways, I was impressed with their closer Derrick Turnbow. He hit 104 m.ph. twice during warmups and consistanly hit 96-99 while he was pitching with decent control from what I could tell.
I had no idea he could do that

Team Owner
I thought the record was held by Ryan. I think J.R. Richard of the Astros hit 100 in a game once and Mark Wholers(sp?) and Billy Wagner hit 101 but that was it.

I was wrong - Ryan was "officially" clocked at 100.9.

I'm pretty sure your Cubbies are coming to town next after Arizona, Yum. It's funny 'cause we were actually talking about going to see them. I want to see Zambrano pitch but I'm not even sure if he's scheduled...
And AD, don't tell me you've already forgot about Rob Dibble?
And I thought it might be wrong, too. But he was constantly hitting 100+ and like I said above topped out at 104 twice. And a few years ago I saw Matt Anderson from the Tigers hit 105... I don't think he lasted very long in the majors though. Haven't heard anything about him lately...

It looks like it will probably be Fenway though. My cousin has been and said it's it's pretty badass up there And besides, we have to taunt Wily Mo sometime this year

And besides, I wonder if those on the list are in-game live-batting speeds and don't count warmups? I don't think pitchers risk sacrificing their control very much trying to throw as hard as they can while in a game

The list above IS NOT a comprehensive breakdown of every pitcher to ever surpass the 100 mph barrier, but rather a list of pitchers we have seen on ESPN Game of the Week, SportsCenter, or in person eclipsing the century mark. If you want to share an another or provide an accurate game date for those we have in the chart please send us an email.
So who is the fastest pitcher in baseball? Baseball Almanac honestly does not know. Major League Baseball does not recognize radar speeds as an official statistic. The Elias Sports Bureau, Stats Inc and The Sporting News are all highly respected resources who publish some form of record book every season, yet none of them recognize any pitcher as the fastest ever. Nobody really knows, but we do hope this article has shed some light on the topic and at least provided you with additional material to argue with your friends about.

I believe that.
And I'd like to see the Reds try that sometime. flags would be flying everywhere. Sadly, I'm sure plenty of people would actually believe we have a pitcher right now that can throw that hard

There's someone this year who's done it, but I can't remember who.

Ex-Sox shortstops thriving
It's a good year to be a former Boston Red Sox shortstop.
Nomar Garciaparra, Edgar Renteria, Hanley Ramirez and Orlando Cabrera are all thriving in other cities (Nomar is playing first base, not shortstop, for the Dodgers), which makes it all the more painful to watch Alex Gonzalez's struggles at the plate in Boston
Check out the batting leaders in the National League.
Renteria is tied for fifth at .333. Ramirez is right behind him, seventh in the league with a .331 average (with 11 steals to go with it). Nomar missed time with injury and doesn't have enough at bats to qualify, but he's hitting a nifty .337 with five homers and 25 RBIs in only 23 games. Some scouts say he looks like the Nomar of old.
Meanwhile, in Boston, Alex Gonzalez has the fifth-worse OPS of any regular in the American League. The good news? He's playing the Gold Glove-caliber defense he was brought to Boston to play.

David Eckstein wasn't considered much of a prospect, but he regularly produced averages in the .300s and on-base percentages in the .400s in the Red Sox' system. When Eckstein struggled in his first exposure to Triple-A ball in 2000, Boston put him on waivers and the Angels claimed him. He surprised Anaheim by claiming the shortstop job and producing a .355 on-base percentage as a rookie. The rest is history!
