Possible rule changes for next year:

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 13m
Visors will be grandfathered in. Hybrid icing tested in NHL preseason. Shallower nets to be used next season. All subject to board approval

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 9m
Additional video review for 4 min highsticking penalties is a large step in allowing vid review for other issues down the road.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 3m
Many things discussed in conjunction with mandatory visors. Helmets on for fights was discussed. Won't be enforced...yet.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 2m
Players who have played 26 or more NHL regular season or playoff games will not have to wear a visor under grandfather agreement.

I would love better refs. Looks like Walkom is reffing tonight's game. So, Waldorf...don't lose it if he waves off a good goal and/or misses obvious penalties. Just sayin'.

So, let's say an @$$clown like Torres was playing tonight? With Walkom, that hit on Stoll would be legal. No penalty.

Are you referring to when he took Hossa's head off last year in the playoffs...? Nah. It was clearly a hockey play. Legal.

His no-goal call in Game 7 with Detroit was also a classic...one that all refs should emulate.

You stay classy, Duncan Sheik.
You can apologize all you want, but there's no place for that kind of stick work in this league.
I'm sure Shanannanananban will be asleep at the switch on this one.

Hawks show up for 1 period and voila: loss.

Keith needs to be more responsible with his stick and not offer free dental work to others. Otherwise, we got a series if LA wins Game 4.

Toes and El Douche better show up in game 4 for the Hawks.

Props to the Kings who continue to find ways to wind despite their two top centers being out of commission....(Kopitar is the skating dead out there with his secret lower body injury)

@ Sharp "dropping the gloves". That was priceless.

...and Voynov continues to break Kings records. Kids gonna get a healthy pay day this summer.

BLACKHAWKS' KEITH TO HAVE DISCIPLINARY HEARING WITH NHL

Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Duncan Keith will have a disciplinary hearing with the NHL later today for his high stick to the face of Los Angeles Kings forward Jeff Carter during Game 3 of the Western Conference final.

Keith clipped Carter during an exchange well behind the play in the second period. After Carter took a short hack at Keith's hand while the defenceman bent down to pick up his glove, Keith responded by skating behind Carter and hitting him in the face with a one-handed swing of his stick, dropping Carter to the ice.

"Yeah, it was accidental," Keith said after the game. "Obviously, I wanted to give him a tap, but not where I got him. I felt bad. I'm glad to see that he came back. It was just a scuffle. It was an accident."

The injury forced Carter, who wears a visor, to miss the Kings' ensuing four-minute power play, which went nowhere. Carter, who scored two goals in the Kings' Stanley Cup-clinching victory over New Jersey last year, has six goals in this post-season, sharing the Kings lead with Justin Williams.

It appeared that Keith attempted to apologize to Carter on the ice after Carter returned to the game.

Kings' coach Darryl Sutter thought Keith got off easily with a double minor after opening a gash on Carter's face during the Blackhawks' 3-1 loss.

"I didn't think it was a four-minute penalty," Sutter said. "Thought it was a wrong call. ... That's three head injuries now in the playoffs for us. I don't know how to answer it. It's retaliation with a stick. It's not a high stick. Whatever they want to call it, they'll call it. Don't even need video."

The Kings lost centre Jarret Stoll for six games in the second round with an apparent concussion from an illegal hit by San Jose's Raffi Torres. Stoll returned for the conference finals, but the Kings then lost leading scorer Mike Richards for the past two games after a big hit late in Game 1 from Chicago's Dave Bolland.

Carter led the Western Conference with 26 goals during the regular season. His midseason arrival from Columbus last year was a factor in the Kings' improbable surge to their first Stanley Cup title.

Keith didn't think that should be a 4 minute high stick penalty?

...but he apologized

He knew he was screwed right after Carter went down at center ice with his chin split open.

He got frustrated just like Sharp did, but at least Sharp didn't go head hunting with his stick.

Oops, that was Sutter, looked like a 4 min high stick to me, he's saying it should have been more?

If it was Matt Cooke, he would have been given 20 mins, and 4 game misconducts though I guess, so that's fair...

Keith has a bad temper. No defending his actions. He got a suspension recently going after Sedin for what he thought was a boarding hit...And now, his "accidental" swing at Carter for hacking at his hands.

Sharp said that Williams did ask him if he wanted to fight.

Let's check the Duncan Sheik score card that Shanananananban will have to review:

1. Retaliatory action. CHECK
2. Reckless use of the stick resulting in an immediate injury. CHECK
3. Stick swung with intent to hit and injure the other player out of anger. CHECK
4. Sticks first contact the face of the other player. CHECK
5. Player in full control of the actions of his stick that injured another player. CHECK
6. Repeat offender. CHECK

If Shannnananaban wants to be looked at as legit (which he isn't, and probably will never be with his flip of a coin disciplinary actions) Duncan Sheik should be suspended for the rest of this round.

Shannnananban is ultimately a clown, and so are the NHL's disciplinary actions.
They will look at how badly (or not "badly") Carter was injured on the play, and go from there. They will pay more attention to the injury than the act itself.

...in the same way they look at high sticking infractions, no blood, no major, draw a trickle...5 minutes. Meanwhile Malking can tomahawk chop someone to the head, and nothing happens.

NHL Discipline

Speaking of crying...

Even at cruising altitude, Sidney Crosby can't catch a break. [Crosby] has earned the nickname "Sid the Kid" for his masterful play, but his nickname took on a new meaning Tuesday thanks to a crying baby on a flight out of Pittsburgh that was headed to Boston. The pilot on the JetBlue flight heard a baby crying on board, and then asked over the intercom if it was Crosby, who has spent a chunk of the last two games whining to officials. Our Joe Haggerty and Mike Giardi were both on the plane. "@HackswithHaggs: Baby crying in back of Jet Blue flight packed w/Boston media. Pilot just got on intercom and asked if "Sidney Crosby was in the back crying" ... "@MikeGiardi: Baby crying on plane. "Is that Sidney Crosby?" A++ from the pilot #bruinstalk"
