In all seriousness though, I think if the Pens do fail to advance, it again proves that big-moves during the trade deadline are generally overrated.

More often than not, the team making the biggest splash does not achieve it's Cup goal.

Seriously, the NHL has to change that stupid delay of game-puck over the glass penalty.

So how much is Toronto going to over-pay for Bickell in the off-season?

Well, we've now established that Fleury goes from name-brand to no-name. That's one.

Osgood is no-name. Niemi is no-name. And this year, of the goalies left standing, Rask and Crawford are absolute no-names.

Average goaltending supporting a good D and involved back-checking forwards is now the norm.

Except for your Kings. So there.

But, anyhow, we already established that if Chicago goes all the way, I will win this argument and will forever remind you all of no-name goalies until you die.

So, for all of you: root for LA...cuz, LA has the only name-brand goalie left.

Or Boston, I suppose. But, they can be argued that they have a no-name goalie too. Leaf cast-off. Unwanted. Garbage heap. Traded for a name-brand winning goalie called Raycroft who won a Calder Trophy.

Do we really need to post the long list of Cup winning goaltenders again to prove again that you are just trying to preach to the foolish that the odds of double zeros on the roulette wheel are just as good as odd or even/red or black?

Not counting our chickens up here just yet
what a great game that was! My heart was racing through all of the first OT, unfortunately I had to call it a lost cause for me and go to bed at the end of that period....still ended up oversleeping by 90 minutes though

Playoff hockey + double overtime win = worth going through hell trying to stay awake at work today.

BTW hats off to soupy for staying on ice after shattering his tibia, talk about grit

I'm not disputing the past, dude. My argument is that in today's game, a strong D and supporting defensive scheme can be just as effective.

Did LA's name-brand goalie just let in a softie to notch the game at 1...?

No-name goalie 3 wins in series...name-brand goalie 1 win in series and with a big-time softie tonight.

Chicago played a terrific 3rd period and Bickell continues to add to his off-season $$$$$. Series is still not over yet with a pivotal Game 5 incoming...

I believe it was his fibula, not his tibia, either way he played the rest of his shift on the penalty kill with a broken bone in his leg. That's the kind of character that Pittsburgh lacks and that's why they can't hang with the Bruins in this series.

Kings didn't play all three periods.

....but then again when your top two centers are out and injured, what can one expect?
Kings kept it close, but I think the injuries have caught up with the team and the tank is running on empty.

Sure.

Or, I would like to look at how Williams and King failed to score on Chicago's NO-NAME goalie on clear break-aways.

While Waldorf can lament about Game 4's loss on LA's lack of 2 centers, Chicago had to play with basically 2 D-men down since Brookbank and Leddy were awful and were benched pretty much all game...and oh, no Keith.

So..........wash-out.

But, in all seriousness, let's see what happens in Game 5. If LA's gonna break out of their road funk, this is the game to do it.

yes it was the fibula. Jack "homer" Edward had a good soliloquy on weei regarding soupy's injury.

Wonder if the high ice time, from both sides, from Wednesday's game would affect game pace tonight.

I definitely was impressed by Campbell's character to stay out there while injured, it's just too bad that the Pens were too busy playing pass the puck to actually do anything with that opportunity which was essentially a 5 on 3.

the leafs are clearly to blame for the pens predicament. if they wouldn't have lost game 7 or traded rask none of this would be happening.

Oddly enough, no one (at least to my knowledge) up here, has written off the series as a win just yet. We all know what happens if you become too cocky and lets not forget the '10 B's flyers series

So yeah, people are excited but with caution .

If the Leafs would have held on those 10 minutes they'd be going to the finals...makes it all the more painful.
