Alexander Ovechkin Would Prefer Not To Play Defense

This is Derek Stepan's goal from the third period of last night's Capitals-Rangers game, which put the Rangers up 4-2. It's an impressive play, but not nearly as impressive as Alexander Ovechkin's brief cameo.

Keep your eye on the bottom right hand corner of the screen, and look for the giant Russian guy who comes slowly drifting into the frame. That's Ovechkin, giving zero fucks about defense and looking like the world's saddest man. You really have to admire his ability to look that apathetic in the middle of a playoff hockey game.

Yes of course Phenuf effed up but what else is new. All anyone is talking about us the ill advised pinch, there was another 150 ft of ice that happened after that. The turnover machine that is Obyrne did nothing to try and stop the goal.

And when is Reimer going to keep us in a game or steal one?? No name goalies don't deliver come playoff time.

I'm so frustrated with the TV out here, that game goes into OT, and what's on the CBC? Intermission jibber jabber of the LA game. Luckily I found a quality live stream from and caught Hanks OT goal!

This series has really come down to one thing, hitting.

The 2 games Boston has lost are also the 2 games where they weren't playing "always lay the body on 'em hockey". Game 2 they didn't do it at all, Toronto was the much more physical team and the Leafs took it to the B's on the body and the score sheet.

Game 5 was the same thing for the first 20 to 30 minutes. Rask saved the B's from being down 5-0 until halfway through the 2nd when the B's decided to play physical hockey. Reimer played out of his mind the whole game but it was 100% necessary in the final 20 minutes.

No doubt the Leafs can play tough hockey now but I think if the B's set their minds on being physical from the start of the 1st period we've got more guys who are hard hitting than the Leafs do and that turns the games in the B's favor.

The B's will never be a scoring team who can check, they're a checking team that can score, that's the only way they win games.

Rangers coach John Tortorella didn't even want to address the notion that it could be his club's final game of the season.

"I don't consider it an elimination game," he said. "We're trying to win one game. I'm not going to even use that word. We've bounced back. Guys that haven't been in it, it's an opportunity. That's the way they have to look at it. We'll go home and try to win a game."
