It was also the Count/Shanny's evil conspiracy plan to have Quick hand the puck to Steen.

Kings played a horrible game against the Blues, they didn't deserve to win.
Sure the Kings dominated OT, but that's the only part of the game that they showed up to play.

Some line-up tweaks, and getting Greene into the line-up will make it all work out.
Kings saw the best of the Blues, and the Blues best barely got it done.

On to Game 2.

Who knew the the Wild North Stars would take the President Trophy winners into OT?!?!?

Meanwhile, the only run of the mill game was Ducks V Wings.....nothing to see here....move along.

Memo to the idiots at Fox Sports:

It was probably not a good idea to schedule the Kings game and the Clippers game on the same channel......did you guys forget about sudden death OT?

...but hey, now worries right, let the fans watch a SPLIT SCREEN of the Kings OT and the Clippers pre-game shoot around/portion of the first quarter?!?!?!?!?

Idiots.

Was a weird night, didn't feel like playoff hockey, seemed like all the teams were feeling each other out. Wasn't until the 3rd period intensity picked up to playoff level.

Good games tho, couldn't turn them off.

Who knew the Blues would take the defending Champs to OT!??!??

Hawks could've played better...but, Minny also has played Chicago close all season. This is not the gimme-matchup like the Pens/Isles here.

Champs are an 8th seed team that this year are a 5th seed.
Going to OT versus the 4th place team is very plausible....especially considering the Kings only played for a fraction of the 3rd period.

Wild taking the Hawks to OT....now that is a stunner.

...oh and don't count out the Isles.
I don't think they are going win, but they are not going to roll-over.

If your Hawks go on to win the Cup again this year, I promise to never, ever bring up the name brand goalie thing again. But if they don't......It could get ugly in here.

Quick had a brain fart. That wasn't your typical weak goal.

Tis true....considering Quick has stick handled his way to pucks going into his net MANY times......even in Game 5 of the Finals.

Quick held a goal tending clinic last night. His mis-play was unfortunate.

Crawford let in a soft one....hopefully his last, otherwise the Hawks are going to be disappointed.

Goal tending is always a make or break.

Penguins, Blackhawks to play at Chicago's Soldier Field
The NHL officially launched the expansion of its outdoor game series Wednesday by announcing that it is returning to Chicago for a game between the Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins on March 1.

The games will come two months after the Jan. 1 Winter Classic between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings on New Year's Day at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.

"When you see how these games light up a market, big markets like Chicago, you are left with the question of why wouldn't you do more of these?" said NHL Chief Operating Officer John Collins.

Although the NHL only announced one game, league officials have been in talks for games at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and Yankee Stadium in New York as part of a new stadium series concept. The league will view these games as being different from the Winter Classic and the Heritage Classic. There's also discussion of a game in Vancouver.

"The stadium series takes what everyone loves about those games, being outdoors, giving fans the opportunity to tailgate and celebrate the sport in fun venues," said Collins. "And this allows us to get into markets that we haven't been able to get into, or get back to markets that we should get back to every 10 or 15 years."

Sooo...soft goal aside from Crow in the first shot of the game, do YOU think the Hawks kinda played a meh game overall?

Cuz, they did. It wasn't until the 3rd and OT that they turned it up a notch and figured out to get past the crazy trapping Minny was playing.

Just saying. Hawks can play better. Hopefully they learned that NO team is going to roll-over...parity in the NHL is at an all-time high and any 8th seed can take it to a 1st overall team. Look at last year and your Kings.

So, yeah. I'm not that surprised that the game went to OT. But, if we are really in here to talk about my-team-better-than-your-team-and-vice-versa, you're not going to get it. I don't for one instant believe in the Jennings or President's Trophies that were won so far by the Hawks.

But, if they can maintain their superiority that they displayed during the regular season in winning close games, they have a shot at the Cup this year.

I think it's very fair to say it's always a shock when and 8th seed takes the President's Trophy team to task. I've seen it first hand.

Where's fiddy at? Pretty cool...
ROOT SPORTS™, the exclusive rights holder of Pittsburgh Penguins regional telecasts, announced today the network posted a 12.66 average household rating for the 2013 Penguins regular season, leading all U.S.-based NHL and NBA teams for the second year in a row and all U.S-based NHL teams for the fourth consecutive season. Additionally, this year’s ROOT SPORTS’ Penguins broadcasts have garnered the highest average regional sports network ratings for any U.S.-based MLB, NBA or NHL team since 2002.
