NHL seeking realignment solution
In trying to explain the realignment option he wanted to see implemented, an NHL GM grabbed the notebook out of my hand and drew four boxes. Two boxes with a seven above them and two with an eight above them. Don't think of them as divisions or conferences, he said, but instead as regions. Regions that would then have region playoffs to help contain travel early in the postseason.
A few days ago in Toronto, a small group of hockey writers gathered outside the doors of the NHL GM meetings and recreated a similar scene, with one reporter's notepad the focal point as the group debated where each NHL team would fit in a four-division NHL realignment. If it weren't for three or four teams, we would have had the thing solved.
"It's one of those things where there's not a perfect answer for it," said Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman. "If there was, we'd probably go do that. There's going to be debate either way."
The debate continues now, but don't expect many options to be debated when the NHL Board of Governors finally gather in Pebble Beach, Calif. The growing consensus is that NHL commissioner Gary Bettman will have a proposal all but finalized when it comes time for a vote in early December. The notion that a bunch of teams will be presenting their ideas at the meeting isn't an accurate one.....

No worries.....Voynov a defenseman with 5 points in 7 games this year and a +3
Sadly he will be sent down again when the injuries go away....I have a feeling Deano will make a deal and Voynov will be rightfully in the line-up....Deano just has to find the right deal.

Just sayin'.
I mean, Nugent-Hopkins was a candidate to be sent down and the Oilers had no choice but to keep him.

You don't just give up another player on your roster for nothing by exposing them to waivers
You make a trade to create the spot for a guy like Voynov.

There is always the +/- 20 game spot in the season where trades make more sense than a couple games into a season.
Teams know how their team is panning out around the 20 game mark...hence the trades.
You will get more value now than at a few games into the season.

Stars sold
Vancouver businessman Tom Gaglardi is the new owner of the Dallas Stars after a bankruptcy court approved the sale of the team on Friday.
The team was being run by the league since former owner Tom Hicks defaulted on over $500 million in loans and then put the team up for sale last year. The NHL Board of Governors previously had approved the sale.
Gaglardi is the president of Northland Properties Corporation, a company that owns and operates hotels and restaurants in Canada. He is also one of a group of owners with the Western Hockey League's Kamloops Blazers.
According to court documents, the Stars lost almost $38 million in the last year and are expected to lose another $31 million this year.

It was a nice run while it lasted. Hopefully this isn't the start of a streak in the other direction.

Shit, the Blackhawks got the shit kicked out of them by the Oilers, 9-2. Not a good roadtrip....

Crosby set to play tomorrow, kind of wonder about the decision to come back against the Isles after the bs they pulled last year. Just hope Sid keeps his head up, and attached
chips and smokes, lets go
Watching the Leafs destroy the Caps last night I couldn't help but notice how invisible Ovechkin was. What happened to the player smashing, goal scoring machine that he was?

Looks like the coach may be the loser in this.

Boudreau is a good coach. I think that would be a mistake.
Ovie needs to wake up and start playing with some intensity. Regardless of what his issues are, show some heart.

Went to a Marlies game yesterday afternoon. AHL hockey is a lot better than I thought it was. I was thoroughly entertained. Can't believe how fast and big these guys are. I was a few feet from them as they excited the tunnel going into the 3rd period. Holy mack.

^ Yo Grumpy, what do you think of your Leaves scoring a TD and conversion on the Caps...?

You want to complain, look at how my Hawks got absolutely massacred in Alberta over the weekend. First in Calgary and then in Edmonton with the latter scoring NINE times on them.
It's a long season. But, I think your team is much improved and can finally make a run for a spot in the post-season dance.

I won't be happy until the Leaves are 82-0-0
And your Hawks let in 9 because they stink. Had nothing to do with mental toughness.

And you don't need to tell me my Hawks stink right now. I was there witnessing the 9 goals in person.
I still feel butt-hurt this morning.
