You don't think Ilach has any pull with his brethren? You don't think that they'll sympathize with his travel costs, his teams time spent on planes and the cost to his own fan base?
More importantly, the I'll scratch your back, you scratch mine foundation that Gary Bettman's NHL was built on. They're moving East, get used to it.
And get ready for me to make the drive when the rivalry renews!!!

Don't fire up the car yet, dom.
With the Dallas Stars' ownership situation not likely to be settled until later this summer, the team will not be making a contract offer to Brad Richards.
Richards, who becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1, will be playing elsewhere next season.
The Stars would be interested in trading exclusive negotiating rights with Richards before July 1, but such a move would require Richards to waive his no movement clause and there are no guarantees of that happening.
Richards, 31, scored 28 goals and 77 points in 72 games last season and has 220 goals and 716 points in 772 career games with the Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Stars are also interviewing candidates to replace former head coach Marc Crawford, who was fired in April after Dallas missed the playoffs.
Top candidates include former Star Kirk Muller, along with Nashville Predators assistant coach Peter Horachek and Texas Stars (AHL) head coach Glen Gulutzan.
Muller is currently in Dallas to be interviewed for the position.

Really, really hope he doesn't become a Leaf.

No tinfoil needed. The same Gary Bettman claimed the league wasn't running the Coyote's a week before Ballsillie bought the team through bankrupcy. and was quoted a few times as saying Atlanta was doing just fine. When Gary's involved the conspiracy's are all true!

But says "Illach" has cut a backroom deal with teh count and the Wings are headed to the NE so I believe him.
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but any move has to be approved by the board of govs by a 2/3's margin. Hope I'm wrong, but its hard to imagine anyone in the West allowing their meal ticket to roll out.
^^ Don't be silly about that rules and regulations 2/3 vote nonsense......dom knows all!
He is the great Oracle of the Red Wings!
If dom said they were moving the Wings to Nigeria....you'd better believe him.
He knows all the backroom-backdoor deals.

...and Chara, You suck! How could you not take your man down behind the net in OT when your goaltender was out in no mans land spinning like a top.
If Thomas' poke check was horrible, your lack of effort and common sense defense was worse. A simple grab, hook, trip, cross-check would do fine......heck your so big just huff and puff and blow his house down.......

You guys are acting like I'm pulling this out of left field when one of the articles clearly states what I've been saying and what has been reported several times over the last few years.
The Red Wings have long held the belief they had a promise from the NHL that they would be the next team to go East. Oh, if it were only that simple.
Although the Chicago point may be a valid one. But new rivalries are easily made IMO. And its pretty obvious the Wings are on a downward trend and will struggle to make the playoffs in the coming years anyway.

In all seriousness, of course I'm not certain they're moving. But there's been talk of this happening the next time there would be realignment for years. IMO, where's there's smoke there's fire. I can see it happening because Detroit, the model franchise that they are, deserve it more than anyone else does.
But I recognize, there are a lot of factors at play here. Will Columbus even be in Columbus in the next 2 to 5 years? they reportedly lost 25 mill last year. If they become the Quebec BlueJackets everything is messed up, again.
But there's no doubt in my mind that what happens will all happen because Gary designed it that way through deals made with individual owners. Do you really think Atlanta just happened over the last few months? Gary's had it planned for some time. He mentioned Winnipeg for the first time over 3 years ago. Do you really believe that the governor votes aren't all pre-determined? I can't see that being the case.
/tinfoil rant.

I get what you are saying, dom....but it does not explain how the votes will be cast in favor of detroit moving......unless you are implying that the great and powerful Gary will dictate the move and not allow a vote?

Apparently Burrows wasn't hungry tonight, Looch tried to give him a free meal and he declined.

The Bruins are a very different team with spiritual leader Baba Thornton on the bench. He brings a lot to the game that will ever show up on the score sheet.
