The sizzle in the Steak
^^ I dunno why they didn't deal him over the weekend.
In March it's gonna be slim pickings for the return.

to Niemi, Ladd, Burish, Eager, Sopel, Byfuglien, Versteeg, Madden, and Fraser...
That's alot of players. I'll miss Niemi and Ladd probably the most in regards to production.
I dunno about Big Buff...I'll never get truly sold on him because he coasts for most of the year. But, then again, a clutch playoff player is also not a bad one to have...and one who drove Luongo loco is a good one in my books.

With Sopes gone, I think he's essentially replaced by Boynton (who re-signed today) and Hendry as the 3rd pairing. But, the Top 4 remains as good as before with Keith, Seabs, Soupy, and Hammer. So, the defence will be okay IMO...
The biggest question mark is replacing Ladd and Big Buff. Here's hoping Brouwer and Bickell can take up the craft of driving goalies loco.

^^^^ Brother, that's a BIG wish list. Ladd and Byfuglien will be huge shoes to fill. You're right about Byfuglien being a big playoff player.
This Turco thing has me sick. They have a young, proven playoff goaltender that they just let walk away. Dale Tallon makes me mad...he knew the right players to get. He was just a terrible $$$ negotiator.

^ Turco had a better save percentage and goals against then Niemi last year playing in front of a much worse team. He is also a much better puck handler. He's had some playoff struggles in the past but I don't think he will be their achilles by any means.

I think Turco will be fine...but, yeah...it is still tough to see Nemo go though.

Yeah. He had colitis.
And it looks like Huet is going to Switzerland. Does that mean the Hawks are off the hook for the 5+ he's making each year?

Regardless of where Huet goes, his days of being a Hawk are over. Good team guy and he did contribute to Chicago even if he did not quite put up the great numbers...

I wish him (Huet) the best-I hope he lives up to his potential more in Switzerland than he did in Chicago.

Kings sign Willie "my head is still spinning" Mitchell for 2 years $7 mil.

Good signing if he's not a "head case". 2 years is risky.

^ Kings have one of the top bluelines in the West.

In no order, I'd say the best bluelines are: Detoilet, Chicago, LA, Philadelphia, Vancouver...?

^^^ I agree, here in KC, with the Royals and the Chiefs being so lousy, hockey is the only thing to look forward to!

Not sure if any of you guys care or are interested, but I toured the new Consol Energy Center and took some pics of the new arena. It's the most up to date arena in the league, and is an absolutely gorgeous building. I posted a few just in case anyone wanted to see, I took way more than this.

Nice, did you get to view from your seats?

What's the seating capacity for hockey?
Like 18k, about 1k more than the Igloo.

I did, I went and sat in our new seats, being 6'5" I was happy with the amount of leg room, which was horribly lacking in the igloo

ooof! Poor Chicago....Sharks are going to take them out this year with Niemi between the pipes......he'll be on a mission all year.

^
So, Wilson did what he wanted...getting one of either Hammer or Niemi. Good for him. I just think Chicago's Top 6 and D is >>>>> than SJ's Top 6 and D.
Still, it'll be tough to see Niemi in a different uniform. I still think he can become the next coming of Backstrom (Wild goalie).
