Another good game between the Rangers and the Bolts. Definitely an exciting back and forth series to watch.
Evander Kane getting only 1 game and Kadri likely done for the season and his career with the Avs is not a fair trade. If it goes past tonights game I hope we dress MacDermid to take care of Kane on his return.

As much as self-policing the NHL is a tradition...I think the Avs must focus on the big picture...getting to the Final and winning it. They've had too much heart-break in the playoffs to allow this to derail their mission. Don't give Oilers any reason to have any life. Curb-stomp their playoff hopes out ASAP. Settle it with Evander next season.
And hory shet...with a NO-NAME GOALER?!??!? WTF??!?!? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE WITH 4-LINES OF AWESOME AND THAT DEFENSE?!?!?!?!? OMGOMGOMGOMG.
Congrats to Denver. I know it's presumtuous but, I think they are truly the team to beat regardless of who reps the East? Man, Makar, MacK, et al are awesome...
And they look content to win this 1-0 or 2-1. Oilers are going to be choked to death at the neutral zone...
It was looking that way till Edmonton decided to have a little fire while we also decided to abandon our first period game plan in the second period and go back to playing Oil pond hockey like game 1 for some reason.

I won't say I ever doubted them but I definitely thought we were going to blow the game last night. WTFBBQ was Rantanen doing at the end of the game with the puck at the blue line instead of getting it deep.

I think the Avs/Rangers Finals would be a great matchup. I just not sure we come out on top. We keep losing bodies at the rate we are right now we won't have 4 lines to play by the end of game 3. Looking like Cogs season is done for now too with a broken hand on a block last night. He has been by far our best 4th liner and PK specialist.
The Rangers Kid line is starting to play like most teams second line together meaning they are beyond deep now.
MacK needs to show up more. He had spurts but I was overall disappointed with him in this series and the Blues series. He needs to come out like he did against the Preds. Makar has been his unworldly self and out performed even MacDavid in this series. Just something extremely special to be watching.
Having this possible big break will be nice to get some rest but considering the type of injuries we have, I don't think we gain anyone back from the time off. Hopefully, Cogs is more broken fingers than hands but shaking hands at the end with your left hand leads me to believe it is his hand. Fingers can be taped and a two finger glove used. Kadri depending on the break of his thumb could come back if they did surgery to insert a pin. The chance of it being the right kind of break for that to work though is slim.
Super crazy and exciting this team has put it all together this year though to make it to the cup finals.
Our problem is streaky play by almost everyone. If we can get 90% of the team playing to their level we can beat anyone.
That's a huge if.
Well, to a degree...it's all about matchups and how the other team schemes too.
Take the Oil for example...starting from Game 6 against the Kings and more or less into the series against the Flames, their speed...and their mistakes...covered up for the poor defensive play and penalties taken by the opponents. Against Avs, well, speed was canceled out and well, Denver did a fantastic job on the neutral zone and boxing out McDavid most of the time. There you go. Series.
Assuming NYR (for sake of framing this which would also be the case for Bolts) plays their game, their dependency is also on the forecheck, pacing, and scheme of Tampa. If those do not run to the plans of NY, then well, it becomes more reactionary...more space given and/or more dump and chasing versus puck-carrying...etc. etc.
My question for the first 2 games was if Tampa lost their legs with the long break and NYR was playing some amped up hockey with little interruption due to a long break between series. So, if this is partially true and the Bolts "broke through" in Game 3 and are now officially awake, what happens next? We'll see tonight and in Game 5 I think. Should be darn fun.
I can't agree more. I hate it when they dump the puck in. Nothing good happens. I also hate when they "overpass" It's a fine line there and obviously passing well is good but as Gretzky said (paraphrasing) no pass on it's own scored a goal without a shot.
Frequently they pass & pass & pass ad nauseam and never get a shot.
I felt we played well the first two periods, we ceded the game in the 3rd. I was screaming get out of the zone, it feels like for a week just before the GWG.
I would not have complained if Trouba took fewer penalties, the holding early in the period was a weak call IMHO but all teams get away with many penalties per game so you can't complain about the weak ones.

Like, it's also infinitely easier for us to see because well, our vantage is way up and not at ice-level, haha. And also, hockey is so quick that they don't have as much time to think and slow it down so, ebb and flow of a game.
Ultimately, talent, discipline, and coaching (i.e. structure) wins in the end. On occasion, pure luck too but that's harder to come by since a team needs to win 4 times against the other...not like in the NFL where it's one game. Sadly, officiating also has a play at times but, BUT...talent, discipline, and coaching can usually overcome one bad call or two by the refs. It should never be an excuse for losing a game (reffing).
Dump-and-chase is really the only route if the neutral zone clog-trap is set up...how can you carry the puck in and or do any cross-ice passes if the other team is sitting there, right? It's not fun to watch and teams hate it but sometimes, ugly wins too in the playoffs.
Style points are for losers........ask the Oilers.
BUT...let me say this: I'm insanely impressed by Draisaitl...that guy was a freaking warrior and what he did was -worthy given he had basically no legs left...
Its going to be a weird next 8-11 days with no Avs games to watch.
Excited to watch the game tonight and see if Tampa is back on their game like Yummy said or if this is going to be over quickly as well.
Hard to feel sorry for you.

True and I never blame an entire game on any one event (bad play, bad penalty taken bad call) It's three periods, no one thing determines the win/loss.

Sure but when they dump & chase a large percent of the time the other team brings it in and gets chances.
Hopefully, they reverse the momentum & play well tomorrow.
I expect it. No quit with your team IMO -- spunky group.
With the exception of some of Trouba's antics (which I'm not re-starting with you just stating my opinion here), the Rangers are a well-coached, hard-nosed team, with talent and speed to go with them. Fox is a stud...not Makar-level but still, damn good. And well, you know and I know what you have in Breadman. Gallant is a great coach...Expect this series to now go 7...
ON PAPER, I thought the Bolts would prevail but now with Point out...I think NY has a chance and personally, I am rooting for your Rangers. Want to see an Avs/Rangers Final.
