No comments about the mighty Finlandians scoring 8? They toyed with those Austrians. Were the Austrian players wearing skis? That's all they're any good at.

All wins by the Fins should be like the LeHeat playing against an NBA team: blowouts and shutouts.

What are the Slovaks ranked on the IIHF rankings? Cuz, they are getting spanked up and down the ice by the US.
Senior Moderator
They scored those 4 goals on themselves cause were they bored of scoring on the Austrians.

^ You're being mis-informed. The Austrians never even crossed into the Finnish zone. Its Russian propaganda suggesting that the Austrians ever even had the puck. Ask Black Label, he was probably there.

Its not their fault the refs are blind.
And that's there's only 1 blind ref. Unlike the NHL's 2.

Looks like Team Mother Russia took care of business against Team Kopitar...

Love watching hockey on the big ice. So much more room for creativity out there. NHL should make the switch.

only up 2-0 on Norway after 2. Then again they don't even need to Zamboni the Canadian side of the ice. They better start taking this serious in the 3rd.

It will never happen.
...and the idea that the bigger rink leads to a more creative game is a myth.
It's not the size of the rink, it's the type of game being played.
This is not NHL hockey, this is soft international/Euro hockey.

NHL players hate the Oly size rinks.

Canada shaky result against Norway. The Finlandians will wipe the floor with them on Sunday.

Personally, I'm with Ducks-fan here and that I prefer games on the larger surface. Given how big NHL players are these days (compared to 60s, 70s, 80s, and etc.), I think the case could be made that they have out-grown the current rink dimensions in North America?
And while the impact may not be giant, I suppose it could also help reduce some of the violent collisions that are taking players' heads off with the larger surfaces.

Hey, black label...question: Bergeron likes to tap the end of his stick. I'm guessing it's a superstition but does he do it constantly or only when on the bench?

I didn't know that the NHL players disliked the bigger rink.

Some food for thought as to why the NHL players don't like the OLY rink
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nhl...#ixzz2tEltjw7z
It would be a different style of game (see Olympics).
It would be a slower game.
No thanks.
Speaking with a number of NHLers, many of whom had experienced playing overseas, the wider rink might result in exactly the opposite outcome. "It would change the whole game," Flyers center Claude Giroux says. "I played in Germany and on the big ice, and it's just a different game. It's not quick. It's more control the puck and control the game. It slows the game down. When it's tight ice, you have to move quick, make a play quick. You don't have two seconds before someone's on you."
Theoretically, more surface area would suggest more time and space, the two things that hockey players and coaches talk about with bated breath, like treasures they've sought their whole lives. But time and space are that important because they are in limited supply on the narrower ice.
On the wider sheet, the game is much more passive. It's waiting and surveying. Like soccer, scoring chances require more time and more collective effort. "On the smaller ice, if you get a half a step on a guy, you're now in a scoring position," Cammalleri says. "Whereas, on the Olympic ice, if you get a step on a guy, he still has room to catch you before you get to the net. He can get an angle on you before you get to a scoring position."
It seems small, but in this game of inches, that's all it really takes.
