thats the same argument my blind friends use...
it will always be bigger on a world stage... and thats how i will always guage popularity..
futbol's/soccer's viewers/popularity takes a dump on every other sport.. period
while america may not agree, its still the truth.
im just part of that bigger picture.

what exactly does that have to do with my opinion of what they should be showing?
they could be based in florida, playing florida baseball games, if thats the channel that international soccer is coming on, i wanna see the soccer.
clearly i dont think ESPN gives a shit about what i wanna see...

I'm sure 10x more people last night would rather have watched the US/Mexico game than LLWS. The only people that care about LLWS are friends/family members of the USA players.

If you can't understand that soccer fans in this country are a vast minority by now, I don't know what to tell you. This isn't a Gold Cup match, it's a friendly. The majority don't give a shit.
The contract with LLWS will always take precedent over soccer. Don't like it, write to ESPN.
It was on ESPN News, ESPN3 and Univision.

I know the contract with LLWS will take precedent since they already have it signed and paid for so they had a legal obligation to show it til the end.
Yes the match yesterday was a friendly, but it was against our rivals Mexico and I bet a vast majority of the Hispanic US population yesterday (huge soccer fans) wanted to watch that game so that alone would account for like 100 billion people

Listen, you're preaching to the choir here. I'm an American that follows Championship and League One teams. I get it.

Ok Ok enough with this talk
So the Tot/Everton game this weekend was cancelled...no surprise. Wonder if any others will... Although most of the violence I've seen/heard of is in the Tottenham area.

Three Wheelin'
8-2?
Granted Arsenal were fielding a second string side, but that scoreline does not bode well for their title challenge, or for the strength of the squad in coming years. Unless Wenger works some magic and unearths some amazing French talent yet again.

Wenger needs to be fired. I still have no clue what the fuck he is thinking... he has piles of cash at his disposal (60+ mil) and isn't buying anybody. Face it, Arsenal isn't winning shit while he is still in charge; only solution is to bring someone in to make changes for the better, and USE THE MONEY.
Fabregas and Nasri were smart as fuck to get outta there..

Speaking of Nasri, I didn't know he was that talented.
Nasri and Silva looked great together and this means even less playing time for Milner.
I think he would be a good replacement for Lampard unless of course they actually land Modric.

Living the Dream
Has anyone here ever purchased tickets to a "major" European soccer match?
I am going to Munich for my birthday (in October) and that weekend, Bayern happens to be playing a home game.
There is a website called SeatWave.com which has tickets, but I've never heard of them.
I am going to call the ticket office directly tomorrow as my first option. But I was curious what others may have used in the past.
Kiitos for any help

Don't you mean 'kudos' for any help?
Anyways, I don't know any other sites to buy tickets to the games other than that club's website or at the stadium ticket office. That is what I did when I was in Europe.
And seeing as Bayern is the biggest and one of the best teams in Germany, that would be a great game to go to!

Getting The Boot: NBA Loses Its Spot As Third-Best-Attended U.S. Pro Sports League
Maybe LeBron James can play goalie?
While the National Basketball Association players and owners continue to bicker and bellyache about divvying up the cash pie, other sports leagues pass them by.
Major League Soccer doesn't get the buzz on sports radio or the blogs, but it has corner kicked its way past the NBA in average attendance, according to the news site Examiner.com. MLS attendance has gone up 6.6 percent this season, helping it become the new No. 3 sports league in the United States, based on per-game attendance.
An average of 17,870 fans have attended MLS games over the course of the 2011 season -- that's 3.0 percent more than the NBA and 4.1 percent more than the National Hockey League.
The National Football League, with an average attendance of 66,950, is the king of kings for American sports fans. Major League Baseball's average attendance of 30,352 is good enough for the No. 2 spot.
Fans in Seattle are the main reason for this impressive MLS move. The Seattle Sounders play in the Seahawks stadium and led the league in attendance with 38,495 fans on average, according to the Examiner.
There's more good news for the domestic soccer league: MLS attendance is 10th-best internationally, ahead of the Scottish Premier League and England League Championship, among others.
Critics will say these numbers are deceiving, since soccer stadiums are much bigger than basketball and hockey arenas. Also, the soccer season is shorter than the never-ending schedules in sports like hockey and hoops. Yet this is still a big step for passionate soccer fans who daydream about the MLS being a relevant sport for Americans.

Being a Czech, I could not believe what an easy group they got drawn into. Ridiculously easy compared to the others. But since the Czech team isn't as good as it used to be it still won't be easy; it is one of those equally talented groups because all of the teams aren't that good lol.
Group B is fucking ridiculous. As soon as I saw them draw Germany I was like OH SHIT! Definitely the 'group of death'.
C doesn't look that tough to be honest. Spain should win easy, Italy is always overrated but they might dive their way into the latter stages but Croatia is good too and have some world class players. Ireland is fucked.
D is by far the most balanced group. Ukraine are no pushover and have some good talent. England is overrated. Sweden is always a good under the radar team. And France is nowhere near as good as they were 10-20 years ago.
My picks to advance:
A: Russia, Czech Republic
B: Netherlands, Germany
C: Spain, Croatia
D: England, Sweden
