2016-2017 EPL Soccer Thread
Since we are less than 2 weeks away from the start of another great season (hopefully) I figured i'd start a new thread about the Premier League. You can debate about it being separate from the FIFA thread, but i wanted JUST an EPL thread. If you dont want to join in im sure this thread will die a death, but not for lack of trying.
So chime in on your favorite teams, players, goals, potential transfers and after last years shock winner it will be interesting to see how this season shakes out.....
Me, im a loyal Red Devil supporter, been to Old Trafford a bunch and am excited about having Mourinho at the helm this year. dont really like the new home kit, but like the white away kit.
Transfers have been good so far, still cant believe the numbers the Pogba transfer is generating, especially after he left a few years ago for so little.
oh and F**k Off all you Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool supporters!!! lol....just kidding....bring on the banter...

I'm jealous you have Mourinho and Ibra but then again it isn't guaranteed to work. I think Ibra can do lots of damage in the EPL.
I think Chelsea will have a bounce back year.. maybe not the title but top 4.
Leicester City come back to reality and will end up in the bottom half of the table.

I like Conte as a coach, he should do well. Ibra could have a field day against some teams, i hope he brings the Cantona Effect to this season. Bailly will be a good partner for Smalling and if Pogba doesnt come, Schneiderlein should have a solid season.

FInancially EPL, La Liga and Bundesliga are all the top, Serie A in Italy used to be top too, but they had some scandals etc and now are a little lower but still above the Dutch league.
La Liga tends to only ever have one of maybe 3 teams ever winning it, Bundesliga is a bit more competitive but at the end of the season its between one of a handful of winners.
The premier League, now this is the richest league, and probably the most competitive of the top leagues. last year the team winning it had odds of 5000-1 of winning it at the beginning of the season. A few years ago there was only a few teams realistically in with a shout but teams are becoming a lot more competitve now with the influx of TV money. In the last few years TV coverage in the US has become awesome for the EPL. you can watch games on your phone, laptop or TV. MSNBC has allowed me to watch every game Man Utd played, albeit with some early morning due to time difference for early kick off. Even more games than my cousin who in fact lives in Manchester!! lol (although he gotes to live games a lot )
I understand the American mentality of a game cant be exciting if thewre is no score, and from a 10,000 foot view thats right, but there is a lot more technical items to appreciate, such as defensive play or goalkeeping. It also differes from the American Sports in that the bottom teams get proverbially kicked out of the league so no one deliberatewly tanks to get a good draft pick or for fans of those bottom teams the season stays exciting to the end, even though it may end in heartache.
If you want to get involved, watch a few games, maybe pick a team for the EPL, and feel free to ask any questions.

Oh well....I will take the time to educate if it means someone else will one day get to enjoy the greatest sport there is!!!
One thing I will say is while the EPL has much more parity amongst it's teams, La Liga has the worlds best 2 players....3 maybe depending on your view of Bale....

I may have asked that a few times because a) I'm getting old and forget things b) I like to stir shit up since I know some futbol fans get stirred up c) Maybe it changes. I remember growing up the Italian League was the shit.
If I remember correctly NBC and other channels do show a ton of games. I don't mind the low scores TBH. It's the skill that I appreciate since I used to play with some friends. I even have some Adidas cleats that are collecting dust

Well the season is back and i can say this weekend didnt disappoint!! a few shock results, namely Leicester losing to Hull, but the Liverpool Arsenal Game was a firework show to start the season. Arsenal not buying anyone for the last few seasons is seriously going to hurt them and i dont blame the fans for being a little annoyed.
Utd result was good for me, and Ibra has now scored on his debut in nearly all the leagues he has played in.
I think Chelsea v The Hammers today should be a good contest.

The Manchester Derby, sees Manchester United vs cross town rivals Man City it what is officially being billed as the Most Expensive Soccer Game ever due to the money spent assembling the players on both teams!
hoping its a great game, and for the casual fan it is worth checking out!!

Wow. USA first losing at home to Mexico 2-1 and now losing at Costa Rica 0-4. They sure as fuck dug themselves a hole with horrible play last night. Klinsmann has got to be on a very thin rope.

I didn't watch the game cus it was on BEIN and who the fuck has that channel? .03 % of the population.. that's who. But I watched highlights and it looked like their defense sucked major balls.

With Uverse it's like $10 a month more for just that one channel. I wouldn't mind it cus of all the Euro soccer league games they show but wife thought it was unnecessary. But still, BEIN? Fuck. Should be on ESPN or something.
