So I wonder when he decided to leave. Maybe he just wanted to be president for at least a few more months to allow enough time to shred all of the evidence in his office.

Something definitely rattled him to call an extraordinary press conference and out of nowhere resign.

In a year or so he will settle down in some Mediterranean hideaway with his half a billion of embezzled funds and live out the rest of his life. But what needs to happen is he needs to go to prison and they need to re-vote the 2022 cup. Having it in Qatar is beyond a fucking joke.

From what I gather, there was denials that anyone he was connected to had anything to do with bribery. Then there was produced a letter to his deputy about a bribe for the 2010 Cup.

If FIFA wants to be all rainbows and sunshine, they need to stop what's happening in Qatar.

Supposedly there was no coverage of Blatter's resignation on Al Jazeera's Qatar website yesterday. I'm sure there are some nervous people in Doha today.

Yes, the 2022 cup should definitely be re-voted and moved away from Qatar.

Only thing about it... Qatar has already spent so much money on building the stadiums. I'm sure FIFA won't reimburse them. The Qataris surely would have something to say about that..

I just read that they plan on spending $200 BILLION on the cup alone.

Rather than remove it, why not send in some sort of multi-national task force to correct the conditions paid for by FIFA and the country of Qatar. And of course indict those responsible for the deaths that seem to be going unchecked.

But it's also the fact that it is in the middle of the fucking desert and will be hot as fuck and will interfere with all the European leagues' schedules since it will be played in winter.

I was under the impression that the weather is doable in the winter. Is it still too hot? I'm sure FIFA has successfully muted many opponents to the solution. And yeah I heard about the Euro leagues getting delayed.

Just a tidbit...
Former FIFA vice-president Jack Warner claims he knows why Sepp Blatter resigned and says he has an "avalanche" of evidence regarding alleged corruption at the sport's governing body.

In a political address entitled "The gloves are off" broadcast in Trinidad and Tobago, Warner said he feared for his life, but would reveal everything he knows, stating he had instructed his lawyers to contact law enforcement officials in his homeland and overseas.

Warner also said that when he heard Blatter was stepping down, he wrote to him urging his immediate departure from FIFA.

"Blatter knows why he fell. And if anyone else knows, I do," Warner said.

He said some of the documents he had related to financial dealings with FIFA, some of which are being investigated by US authorities.

Warner added: "Not even death will stop the avalanche that is coming. The die is cast. There can be no turning back. Let the chips fall where they fall."
Will be interesting to see what is revealed in the near future

Don't know if anybody is watching either the Copa America or Women's World Cup.

Great goal last night from Chile to give them the winning goal. Will play the winner or tonight's match .. Argentina vs Paraguay

And of course, USA women (#2 in world), play Germany (#1 in world). Should be .. decent lol

I haven't had the time to see either I've been seeing the goals on Twitter. I can't see the above video. Was that the one off the free kick with the 4 passes that was so beautiful or was that an MLS (!!!) goal?

The second goal by USA was so pretty.

They dominated Germany. I gotta admit, normally women's soccer is damn boring.. slow with little action. But this game was actually pretty entertaining. Lots of back and forth in the first half. Then USA putting the hammer down. Lots of hard fouls.

Some things I noticed this game vs a men's game:
-Women's shots... they have no power in their shots. Both Rapinoe and Morgan had excellent scoring opportunities but it was a slow roller straight to the goalie
-A LOT less diving/flopping around on the ground.
-Women are tough. That head collision was bad but both went straight back in (thought they should have done the concussion protocol though)

Oh and I am guessing Japan will win.

Do they call it crease in soccer? I thought it was the box but I'm not an expert.

Goal box

The bigger box in the penalty box, the smaller box is the goal box. But you can just call it 'box'.

Oh man.... gotta feel bad for England.

In the 93rd minute.. the England defender kicks the ball in their own net and they lose. Gotta be one of the worst gut-wrenching ways to lose, and at this level. Yikes...
