yea i do really like those! I saw those awhile back and that's why i wanted to find something similar..its $900 without shipping or taxes so that's going to run me about $1200+ just for the rims..not to mention mounting and balancing + alignment..

@dennis...thx for the idea bout the lowering beam...

question for ya...ive been reading bout 2 inch narrower beams...i guess ill need to get them if i wana run wider rims up front...what if i was planning on getting wider fenders anyways...ive found a site that offers up to 4" inch wider fenders...

what do u think?

Well, one of the reasons for the narrowed beam isn't so much to run wider wheels. It's more to ride dumped and still be able to turn. When it is not narrowed, even narrow wheels with small tires will rub. With the narrowed beam, the smaller part of the tire comes out of the fender so you don't rub on the fender when you turn.

icic...so getting wider fenders will solve that same problem im assuming...

n what makes the lowering beam some much easier than adjusting coilovers?

im guessing with coilover and lowering beam combo...if i take that route...adjusting the lowering would b the major adjustment...then fine tune the ride height with the coilsovers?

I don't know how much you will gain from both. The beam is straight as straight can be. When you adjust it, it's even no matter what. I don't think coilovers alone will work unless you pull all the springs out of the stock beam. I still need to research it. I don't think many people ran coils. They ran the beams. If anything, they converted to disc brakes.

Volkswagen bugs had a front beam for the suspension. The beam has springs that go side to side. I guess they could be considered some sort of tortion spring. Just long bars, stacked on each other. Just a shock mounted on each end of the beam. You can lower the car by removing these bars. OR, you can buy a beam that you can adjust. Almost like a coilover just that it adjusts the entire front. When the front gets dropped, the front tires will go forward towards the front part of the fender. So, when you turn, the tire will rub on the fender. They sell narrowed beams that help you turn when you are dumped. The top part of the tire is in far enough so that when you turn, it never hits the fender.

They don't really have a bolt pattern/offset combo that would work in that model.

Holy crap! For the price of those Rota TORC's, you are better off getting the WORK's off the outlet. Shipping won't be that much. If you haven't got any wheels by May, I'll pick those suckers up when I go to Long Beach for my wheels.

yea...they r called tortion bars that fit inside the beams...n if u get narrower beams then ull need narrower tortion bars as well...

thx for the input bout the front fenders...

just came bak from looking at my 1st VW...1969 standard bug...it was pretty awesome...

and 17x9, 4x114.3 with 27 offset

correct me if i'm reading that wrong, but i think i'm looking at that correctly..

I was going w 18's since I know those are going to probably be out of your budget. 17's with tires will be way over your budget.

Oh, and you will probably rub like crazy with those offsets unless you are willing to run camber.

I can imagine you want to get rolling on something again. It's worth it to wait just a bit. With the comparable wheels your are looking at, the WORK's are not too far out of reach and the outlet price is pretty dang good.

I held out and waited 3 months for my first set of works. If it wasn't for the $1500 insurance check I got for my stolen wheels, no way I would be spending over $2k for another set.

not like they'd "approve" of my car anyways, my car isnt "leet" enough to pass "inspection". seems like most of the bigger shows are doing that now.
