thought u guys will b curious as to y they r doing the recall...

Background:
A manufacturing error can produce over-pressurization of the driver's (front) airbag inflator during airbag deployment. If an affected airbag deploys, the increased internal pressure may cause the inflator casing to rupture. Metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, possibly causing an injury or fatality to vehicle occupants.

Reminds me of the airbag recalls they had and earlier model year Nissan Alitimas.

The pasenger airbag, once deployed, would take the shape similar to a fist and could cause broken noses or death.

Airbags are life savers!

But, it is better to have one then not having one at all....I think.

i was in maybe a 30 mph wreck (broke from 30) and the airbag never went off.

FAHK!!! The spare I bought is different bolt pattern. Didn't pay attention to 09 specs for AWD being 5x120 bolt pattern vs my 5x114.3.... .

If that blue bug is on 8's, they have to have a serious negative offset.

Wide wheels can fit on the rear. The front's can't be so wide. Most guys run narrow wheels.

And that blue bug is probably a 70 or newer and sitting on an IRS pan. That's why not so much camber compared to the older VW's.

lol @ -100...

im gona start by ordering 2 10s...test fit in the front n rear...if it clears both i can measure the rear to see if i can use 12s

im definitely not gona slam it like that...after all its gona b my DD...n im planning on having 3 different sets of rims...

hey dennis...im running into some confusion...i was researching n i came across a site xplaining the many ways of lowering a bug... here... http://www.oldeskool.org/how-to-lowe...en-beetle.html

i dont need all that do i? i cant just get some coilovers n lower it...the guy freaked me out when he was talking bout adjustable beams...no idea what those r...

theres a beetle place in p-town so im gona go take a look

i did alot of research 2day...i actually went to a vw bug mechanic in town...place is called beetle power...the guys been working on beetles for 20 so yrs...so i let him know whats up n he basically gave me a general bug101...it was so helpful...was there for like 2 hrs...i felt bad kuz he was actually working on a car at the time n stopped to talk for 2 hrs but he said that its nice to see a kid like me working on a bug...even gave me some of his recent vw bug mags for free to help me get started...his baja is definitely insane looking...

ill definitely b looking for 68s rather than 70s...1 thing is the suspension is much simpler even tho itll kill my wheel bearings(what else is new...lol) but yea...amazing fact of the day...front windshield of a bug costs $15 to replace o.O...the 1s that rnt curved...only the later yrs r curved...

@ dennis...thx for the offer...i will definitely keep that in mind...my search for the rite bug i narrowing...i just have 1 last ? for u...

the mechanic said the later yrs have IRS n everything b4 68 has swingarm...

both can b lowered...

but when u lower the swingarm is what causes the wheels to tuck in like our cars...

but if u lower an IRS it doesnt tuck as much...

if i wana still try to run those 15x10s or 12s i need them to tuck...sssoooo if i get a later yr bug...can i still adjust the camber so i can tuck? kuz they offer 3" wider fenders for super beetles...n most i see that r lowered...the rear is pretty straight camber...

Steve, yup I think '69 and on had the IRS pans. It was a popular swap.

Camber isn't adjustable on these cars. The lower you go, the more camber you get. The axle just stays alinged with the spring plate. Only way to adjust the camber is to raise or lower the car.

I prefer a pre 65. Just like the overall style. 58-61 look the same but had "egg" tail lights. My favorite is the 57 oval. It had the bullet turn signals next to the headlight instead of the one that sit on top of the fender.

yea i like the ovals too n the splits n u can put ragtops on those which is something i would want...but everything pre 65 is 40 horse if im not mistaken n 6volt...i just wanted to start out with something thats at least 1600cc n 12volt...n the biggest is that there r no 3" wider fenders for pre 65 also...

i would love to get a 68 platform so i can still get the swing arm rear...n im planning to get the bumper mount conversion plates so i can get the pre 65 bumpers...those in my opinion r the best looking 1s...
