Hey guys - I created a twin cities social group for us. With the new setup of the site, I think it's going to be easier to continue our meets section in as a social group, rather than in this area.
What are your thought? With the social group, we can all post pictures in an album, and have more in depth profiles with pictures and such I believe.
I'm beginning not to like the new site, but maybe I'll get used to it. Who knows - maybe the social group part will turn out to be pretty cool.

Word from the people at MN Auto X is that the airport event is off for some paving. If you are planning on going up there, make certain you check with the guy organizing it first.
Or, if you just want to see some autocrossing, come on out to the Saints stadium on Saturday, I'll be there racing all day. Cars on track at 10am...

I hope they get all of the bugs worked out of this new site soon. I'm having all kinds of stupid little problems. The biggest one is that I am no longer subscribed to posts at all. So I have to dig for any posts that I want to keep tabs on.
Josh - I do kind of like knowing who is on and what not. Maybe we should just keep using this thread for daily stuff, and we can use the other for posting pictures and such.

Grrr.... So, when I made the social group, it kind of made me a mini-moderator. Or so I thought. It gives me the option to delete messages, but they don't really go anywhere. It just erases your messages and replaces it with one that says that I have erased it.
So much for cleaning up the thread.
Ok... so I have realized 2 very big issues with using the social thread for daily communications. Josh pointed out that we can't see the status of the other people (signed on or not), and I just realized that we cannot reply to anything in there. I say we just continue to use this thread. The other one will be there so we can post all of our meet pics without having to search through 50+ pages of chit-chat to find all of the pics.
No smileys there either :-(

I found the owners of that van that hit me. Yeaaaa. Wow - took me forever. Kind of an interesting background though. If your looking for a good story - look up a group called Acorn. I guess theres a big conspiracy theory with Obama and this company.

What time are you guys going to start the drive? What time do you plan on being in Oceola? I've got a softball tournament in Hudson in the morning so I might be able to meet up with everyone and check out your cars!!

Josh theres a guy selling Comptech Axleback exhaust in the BM for 300, hows the sound on yours? Do you like it or if you could would you get a different exhaust?

Hate to say but it has been canceled as they just resurfaced to airport surface.
Here is a copy of a letter I received from Tom the guy putting it on.
Dear Amery Airport Drivers, Volunteers, Hot Flag Girls, and Fans:
I have some sad news. Jay Griggs, the Amery Airport manager, called me today. He said the resurfacing project that was completed at the airport last week - the work that was supposed to give us a nice new smooth surface to run on - hasn’t cured properly and will be a gooey sandy mess if we try to run a speed event on it this weekend. The state government contract paving company had assured him it would be ready for vehicle traffic 24-36 hours after application. Unfortunately that has turned out to be incorrect. Earlier I had pushed for the resurfacing to be postponed until after our event, but Jay was at the mercy of the state mandated schedule and had to accept the date they gave him. State and federal funds were used for this resurfacing project so they call the shots and they could care less about a little car club that wants to use the airport for a driving event.
So we will NOT be running at Amery Airport this weekend. In fact, we probably won’t have an event there again until next year. Further research has shown that this “slurry” resurfacing product, although fine for landing and parking light planes, actually won’t be ready to withstand the punishment of autocrossing until after a winter of curing.
I have been scrambling to find another venue for the 55 drivers who are paid and ready to race this weekend. So far no other airports appear viable, even on other dates. We have checked Osceola, New Richmond, Lake Elmo, Baldwin, Menomonie, Red Wing, St Paul Downtown, Crystal, and others. I called my people at Afton Alps about doing another hillclimb, but they don't have any free weekends before the snow flies.
Sadly, I have only these two options to offer drivers who have already paid. Please select one:
1. Keep my payment as a credit for an Amery Airport speed event in 2009 (we will have two again, probably in June and August).
2. Send me a refund. Here is my mailing address. If I paid with check or cash, I will receive a full refund. If I paid via PayPal I will receive $29.80 which is the amount remaining after PayPal took fees out of my $31 payment.
I offer my most sincere apologies to everyone who was looking forward to driving, volunteering, and/or spectating at Amery Airport this weekend. This totally sucks.

Hey I wanna get a flexible Blue LED strip that goes in my footwells to go with my dome lights. Where could I get some? I don't want cheap ones from checker auto either.

I think flexible blue lights are automatically tied with checker/wally world arent they? Unless you get some of the blue.... ummm..... not LED's, but like the indeglo type lights. But I think those things are ugly as hell.
My vote is get the cheap checker ones, and mount them out of view so you don't see them. Dat's Da Bomb.

You guys missed out! I took 2nd today in my class, still not quite ready to PAX in the top, but getting better.
I was rolling the tires so hard that I managed to curb the front wheels pretty good. I guess it is a good thing that I bought those wheels used or else I would have been pissed!

I made 3 chickens on the rotisserie, each with a different spice, they were all pretty good. Then some of the people in my bulding showed up for dinner and we were going to head out on a pub crawl after dinner, well, that didn't really happen. We ended up hanging out at our house all night long and just drinking my booze. It was a really good time, but it went so late that I wasn't able to get up early enough to head out to the Corvette Club autocross this morning at DCTC.

Happy belated birfday man.
So we should plan for another meet in the coming weeks. It's getting to be that time of year where we could be seeing snow in the next couple of months. OK... maybe not time to panic yet I guess, but we should still get together sometime.
Perhaps something a little more laid back at Jorge's place?
Oh - and just so anyone that is interested knows, Friday sept 19th there are the School Bus races @ 7:30pm, and on Saturday Sept 27th @ 3pm Raceway park is having the trailor races.
Anyone want to head out to either of them? I will probably be making it to both.
Also this Saturday, I went out to the Red Dragon for dinner, stopped at the 22nd Ave Station afterwards, and bar hopped our ways home with the neighbors. I found out one of my neighbors friends Wayne does the autocross in his GTI. He also makes custom made j-pipes and sells them online. Sounds like he is a vendor on another site. I should see what it would take for him to make me some exhaust
And is it just me, or does this new site seem not quite so user friendly as the old one? It kind of lost it's personal touch with all of the stories and such on the home page. Too much riff-raff if you ask me. Makes me think I'm on the MSNBC site rather than an Acura community site.
