Yeah, they guy that lives around my area is a huge ass about tint. He's even starting to pull over people with factory tint on the back windows. I might set up an appointment with a guy in the TC area. It's called Sun Control of Minnesota. I've talked to the guy about getting Formula 1 pinnacle series installed with moleskins. he quoted me at $350 everything installed even pulling the tint I have on now. I was trying to find a place that will install Huper Optik, but the closest person that installs that brand is in Chicago, or Winnipeg Canada

Ah yes. I've been wanting to for years but I doubt that'll ever happen.

BTW, Makana, I'll be in the cities most likely tomorrow with the GF, maybe you and Lisa want to meet up for dinner on our way home? You can text me later and let me know what you think.

I'm not sure exactly what store it was. The guys name is Todd, in his email signature the store is located 2604 Rice street in St. Paul. I'm not sure if the price is more expensive because of the brand of tint I asked for.

I have Huber Optik ceramic tint, and it's at 50%. I would like to go darker, but just don't want to deal with the hassle from the cops. I think it still looks good though!

Where did you get that installed! I've talked to Huper Optik and they said the closest installer is in Chicago, or Winnipeg. Since I couldn't find an installer, I've searched the next best thing Formula 1 pinnacle series.

I ordered it myself, and then had a local installer put it in for me!

don't forget that your window is also going to stop some of the light, so 50% tint that only allows 50% of the light through will measure at less than 50% once they mount it to glass.

Hey Jorge, you need to post up some pics of Guam since I am unlikely to ever go there now that there is a bun in the oven.

Hey Jorge, I took the throttle map assembly apart today to see why I couldn't change through my throttle maps and I determined that there are a couple of little plastic pins missing. If you remember the two little pins that were under the diff control rocker, it is two exactly like that that are missing.

So that I could adjust my throttle maps I moved the pins from the diff control to the throttle control and viola! It all works again. (with the exception of the diff controls now...)

So, when you get home we have to search the shop for those two small black plastic pins.

Just talked to Jorge, it's after noon on Sunday for him and he said that Guam is interesting.

Also, wanted to thank Jorge for the father's day wish, never thought I would be the recipient of father's day wishes.

I went to the Back to the 50’s show with my dad on Saturday. There was a lot of good looking cars and some clunkers too. One car I saw looked like a total POS and under the hood he had a Corvette LS1 engine so I guess don’t judge a book by its cover. But overall not many show cars but I have been spoiled by seeing some exceptional looking classic car at the Barrett Jackson car event in Las Vegas the last two years so while there was quantity at the Back to the 50’s show quality was lower. After the show we were going to my cousin’s house to help him with a computer Trojan but he was working till 3pm so dad and I stopped at the Burger Emporium for lunch and as I exit onto Tamarack a black TL comes up behind me turns out to be 05TLRIDER but alas I am driving my parents PT Cruiser so he didn’t see me. I was unable to remove the Trojan from my cousin’s computer I cant remember the name of it but it was something like odjjmb.dll in his system32 folder. While we let his virus checker do it’s job we played, I think, Left 4 Dead we kept playing a level where we were on the roof of the hospital waiting for the helicopter to save us must have tried 10-15 times and we just couldn’t beat it.

I live in Minneapolis. After 3 tint tickets in 4 months, the 20% is now off the CL after more than 8 years.

2002 - 2009 = 4 tint tickets
so far in 2010 = 3 tint tickets

I guess the locals are getting more up-tight too.

I still have 20% on the front windows of my FX35 though.

I got my 50% pinnacle series installed last Friday. I'll say this still looks pretty dark to me. Maybe it's cause of the black interior. I'll post up a pic later.

I got pulled over for tinted windows today in St Paul!! The weird thing was that there was a cop car driving next to me, but he didn't pull me over. Then I cross Arcade st and there was a cop on a motorcycle; he saw me and he pulled me over. My mom's Camry have the same tint for over 8 years and no ticket!!! Maybe my TL was dropped with rims and I became a target?? LOL.. but got me thinking about re-doing my tint to 50%... but is that still legal? since our window come with a stock tint?

Dropped and wheels will make them look at you harder than a Camry, but also remember, 50% tint will measure at 46% or something like that once it's mounted, so it will still be illegal.

^Doesn't the law specify that there is a +/- 3 (or 4?) %? So technically you can have 47-46% (whichever it states)

Most cops wont give a rip though. I live in Eden Prairie, the most tint hating cops around. Got 2 tickets from the same guy for 34%. Swapped out my front windows to 50% and havn't been bothered once... the tint sucks though. I miss my 35%.

BTW, how is everyone? I havnt checked in in awhile. Ya'll need to get a meet together! I gotta get out of here! Been working too much. Also took my trip to Florida. The Keys were nice.

^TL in the pic too

It doesnt matter what you do. If the cop feels like pulling you over he will. You just proved it. You had one cop next to you and im sure he looked at your car and he did not care, another cop saw you and pulled you over.

The only way to get out of tickets like that is either have a doctor write you a prescription or something saying you have sensitive eyes, or dont have any tint at all. Even if you dont have tint, if you look like trouble to them you will get pulled over. It sucks but its how it works.

What helps me is when i see a cop i open my sunroof. It lets more light into the car and the cop can see me in the car. That is why they pull you over, they cant see you, or they just have nothing better to do.

^+1 This is effectively what making the seatbelt law a primary was really about. If they want to take a look at you, they pull you over, and when they get to your car they can say whatever they want as the reason.

I haven't ever seen any verbiage in the law that indicated a margin of error.

When I went to court the person i talked with about my ticket was talking about how the tint measurer had just been calibrated, so the reading they got was accurate.. Maybe they have some leniency if the thing hadn't been calibrated for a while?

But I doubt a cop would ever care/like to hear you say that, so that might be something you take up with a hearing officer (I think)
