It is one of those roads that is a bikers dream and a nightmare at the same time. Twisties and Hairpins looping turns you name it that beast has it.

Just go to google and type in Tail of the Dragon. It's on the border of NC/TN/GA.

were probably going to have to break it up into a north and south east coast meet.

 

well ATL just had a meet yesterday. Not saying to shutout FL/GA folks so imagine the miami fl folks (if any) that drove to ATL for a meet. Would they wanna drive to NC/VA in 3-4 months....maybe...maybe not

 

well since they just had a southeast meet and theres a mid-atlantic meet on aug 1st we should change this to a northeast meet.

Being from NC I know a great deal about the TOTD a lot of motorcycle enthusiasts make pilgrimages there as well as car enthusiasts that love quick winding roads

yes that looks sweet but you have to remember that there will be a lot of us in this caravan and we wont be going that fast and wont be able to carve any of those turns like they do on motorcycles..

 

True. But it'd still be a pretty fun drive. My drive from Murfreesboro to Clemson goes through mountains pretty close to TOTD and its a a beautiful drive, even if I'm not flying through the twisties.

 

lets really do this...my buddy drove from atl to dc alone to maxus09 and had a blast make sure to check your calendars and do that two polls for the place and the date!!!

Yah, I have been wanting to go to the dragon ever since I heard about it. I was supposed to go in my s2k, but going back to school for a new career took my dragon savings away.. But now I have the opportunity again and I want to go do it! The s2000 guys go EVERY year! This year they are going September 17th-20th. They make a weekend thing out of it since it is a drive for alot of people.

So, I am not sure if this place would be a good idea since many acuraziners might not want to make it a 3 day thing. I would tho.. lol

 

The local tuner shop Phantasm Motorsports rents out the Rockingham Dragway once a month I think and does a thing called Street Wars. I have no idea how much it cost to rent the strip but that is a possibility.

No there are just as many people from the south contributing. Look in the location thread and its a tie between NC and DC. Good try though

I am, but there are a few things.

DC has no room for a good amount of cars, the roads suck, and law enforcement is not the best up there.

Having it up north (of me) like in northern VA or NOVA as some call it would be ok.

I don't think selecting a region like the poll has is going to cut it. I mean DC suburbs, or somewhere in NC isn't that descriptive.

We need to pick specific places in those areas and chose that, not the entire area. If that happens it will be more set in stone and people could plan for it better.

At this point I think we need to have a volunteer from either NC or DC step up to organize the meet. If VA Beach got more votes, I would do it for this area but it seems like the toss up is between the other 2. Once we have someone step up and say they will organize it, then we can decided the specific location. I would suggest there is something more going on than just a bunch of cars in a parking lot, maybe a BBQ or something along those lines.

 

^^^ We are juts gauging what area ppl feel comfortable traveling too and would prefer. Once we set in stone a general location thats when the people in that area can finalize a specific spot and the actual meet thread can be started.

Also DC isnt on the list, the metro area which is very farm like (ive been in this area for over 20 years) has plenty of room for 500+ cars. We meet around the area every week out here and the law enforcement in DC & MD is more lax than VA could ever be.

 

I hear you, but to get an idea the whole state of NC is a bit different. Like one location to the next could mean hours to a trip. Can't we come up with possibilities of some places in those areas of interest? Like lets say for NC we could meet at a stadium or park, or the same in a different state. Just something like that I think would help.

Where in the metro area. I am use to some one saying DC and it means DC. Its only one city, unless you mean the DC metro area (VA/MD/DC type thing). I don't know if I agree on them being more lax, I have had my share of problems with them.... To low, exhaust, the typical. But I guess where ever is chosen there will be a problem. Can't make everyone happy.

I say fedex feild is a possibility. That or set something up with G-force like the east coast honda meet! That was really fun, had vendors, go-karts, and a lot of space.

 

The general concensus for NC is Raleigh due to it's proximity to 95 and it being equidistant for FL and NY people alike...it's all in the other thread (probably part of the problem - multiple threads).

 

We already have 2 vendors ready to do a meet in the DC area

Okay, I need everybody to listen up!!! Please read very carefully what Im about to say! I dont really care where we have this meet, Im down for whatever, I do know this if we have the meet in NC then the next time we plan for this meet it will be moved to a location around the Va, DC area or if the meet is in DC area this time, it will be moved the next time to NC, I think thats only fair to everybody. I know everybody is going to be like, well I dont want to drive that far, but when I look at other forums, people dont have a problem or make excues about its to far and this and that! And they always switch it up. And I can be honest with most of you, The meet would not be directly in DC, for one there is no parking, the streets are nothing but pot holes and there to many traffic lights! When we say DC area, we mean surrounding DC not directly in DC for Example: Maryland (Montgomery or Prince Georges Counties) If we have it up here, I dont mind help organizing, or taking over the Organizing. I just need help trying to find a place holding alot of cars, I know L's TL can help me with that! I do have two Sponors that will help with the event, An Actual Acura Dealership and The shop I go to, to get my car worked on! Im sure I can get more, but Im just holding at 2 right now! The more we try to figure out where we going to have, the less more people will be interested. We need to hurry up and get to the bottom of this location deal and in a hurry! We are a bunch of adults, it doesnt take that long to come up with a location!
