here's a cast iron tub for $359.00 KOHLER Villager 5 ft. Cast Iron Right-Hand Drain Rectangular Farmhouse Apron-Front Non-Whirlpool Bathtub in White-K-716-0 - The Home Depot

Considering putting this in when I redo my bathroom.

Honestly I'm very impressed with the acrylic tub. They measure and bring in molds to ensure that they're fitting the existing tub exactly right. I'm a big guy and I stood in the tub and shifted my weight all around and the tub doesn't budge an inch.

And the finished product

I had started tearing up the linoleum tiles to see what was under them so please excuse the tiles in the front. The tile will be done next, working on getting quotes now. The shower was the first big hurdle to getting this project underway so I'm glad that it's done!

I washed all my dishes, then went down to start laundry in the laundry room only to discover that water was leaking through the ceiling and down through the cabinet above. Luckily in my 9 years of home ownership I've become quite the amateur plumber, so I went to work.

So after pulling all the cleaning chemicals and such from under the sink. I discovered the problem pretty quickly. The piece that screws on to the bottom of the sink was rusted and cracked.

The trap was also full of water and pretty gummed up, so I cleaned it out while I was at it.

After a quick trip to Lowe's and $15 I was ready to fix it up

Voila, shiny new pipe all installed.

I went with metal because I wanted it to fix the other side at least for now. Next year I am ripping out the cabinets and replacing the sink, so just needed it fixed in the mean time. Nice quick $15 fix.
Exactly a year ago to the day after I replaced the piping in under my kitchen sink, I noticed another leak coming from under the sink and leaking down through the floor and into the laundry room and onto my dryer Turns out that the only piece that I didn't replace, the gaskets for the drain itself had worn out and cracked and had started leaking. So I removed the drain, and replaced it with a whole new set of parts

Here's the old bad drain, no gasket left, I literally touched the old gasket and it fell all the way down to the J trap
IMG_20170529_144658118_zpsx2pafhbl.jpg

So I got a new drain, all new gaskets, and went to work

IMG_20170529_155046658_HDR_zpsfufrnn8f.jpg

And bam, good as new! No leaks, everything seems to be holding fine.
IMG_20170529_155055417_zps4tlhstrf.jpg

I'm happy that I had gotten a year out of the first fix, but this is definitely a better fix and should last until I can replace the sink and cabinets. I also bought another set of drains and pipes to do the other side since I have a dual basin sink. It just never ends

Looks good, it's always one minor thing you don't think will be a problem.

On another note, I see the fire extinguisher there, do most people have one? Living in a building, I never thought about it because we had sprinklers and extinshers in the halls but realized, we didn't have one in our house. Last week I went out and bought one but wondered, are they in all house holds or just on the A pillar of Civics?

Where did you go to buy yours and how much was it? I noticed the other day I didn't have one at this house. My parents have one at both their places and my last house had one. I left it figuring most people had one. I would like to have a small one in the kitchen.

Thanks man, we do as well, we went through a LOT of paint samples before we landed on one that we both liked, then it was so long before we painted that we almost forgot what the color looked like, but we love it!

Got the vanity, medicine cabinet and crapper installed today, I'll post more pics in a bit

I needed a patio cushion and to get free shipping at Target, I had to spend a few more dollars so target it was. It seems to cover all types of fires so I grabbed two of these, right around $20 each.

Dammit J!

Actually the gf and I are moving in together , she sold her townhouse and we've started moving her stuff in. Thankfully the bathroom will be done before she moves in so I don't have to hear about it
