I don't believe they caught anything.
can easily be spoofed. And I don't think Niantic would misspell the name of the Pokemon. And why the F would THEY of all people be promised to get one.
Ohhh and that's a pretty weak CP IMO.

I am getting slightly more bored of the game now that I'm level 18 and nothing new is happening and takes a ton of points to level up.
Plus I think Abra is the hardest one to catch. It runs away most of the time. Just now had a 50 cp one .. used a razz berry and great ball and still got out and ran away. A few days ago there was a 20 cp one.. used a razz berry and great ball and ran away. wtf.

The tinfoil hat theory is that Niantic is pushing out "updates" to make it harder to catch things and less user friendly to play to drive away some traffic to let the game traffic level out a little bit.
I got pretty burnt out last weekend and have only opened the app a couple times this week. Usually shut it back off within a couple minutes. No real progress but for catching 3 more pigeons.
woo hoo. :|

They're common Pokemon for a reason.
ive been mostly battling at gyms lately, which is making me catch more Pokemon for stardust to power up my higher CP Pokemon

Is it just me or is the bonus for "nice" "great" "excellent" throws no longer being given out?

It is so fucking true though. I just had a paras break out of the ball 10 times in a row and then run away and took 6 balls to catch a caterpie. Meanwhile I caught a 600 cp rhyhorn in 1 throw. It doesn't make sense. Something is fucked up..

Or...
I didn't know that. But would explain it..
This only will work if you do not have the evolved evee in your pokemon bag. If you already do, then it wont work.
It only works once per name. So once you've named 1 sparky, 1 pyro, and 1 Rainer, It will no longer work.

I have vaporeon that I got by lottery. Tried to evolve a Eevee by naming it Rainer. Didn't work.

Pokemon Go: Brooklyn man says he got them all - CNN.com
Pokemon Go got Brooklyn man going, he says he got 'em all
Mon July 25, 2016
New York (CNN) -- Pokémon Go is the video game that has everyone talking. The interactive hit blends the virtual world of Pokémon with the real world, and it has people across the globe going outdoors with just one goal: gotta catch 'em all.
A Brooklyn man is laying claim to being the first person to catch all 142 Pokémon available in the United States. CNN reached out to Nintendo and Triplepoint PR, the firm representing Pokémon, for confirmation and has not yet received a response.
"You want to catch 'em all and become a Pokémon master, [it's] the childhood dream, but it never really occurred to me I might be the first one to do it until I got pretty close," said Nick Johnson.
Pokemon Go hit the United States on July 6. Johnson said he caught about 135 Pokémon in the first week and a half of playing the game and once he realized how close he was, he figured he would go all the way.
He told CNN it took him almost exactly two weeks to catch them all. The final capture happened just after midnight on July 21 in New York's Central Park, a popular Pokémon hot spot. Johnson was with a group of friends he made while playing the game, he said.
The 28-year-old says that despite some sleepless nights and full days spent on "Poké walks," playing the game didn't really interfere with his life. Johnson said he works about 50 hours a week at the startup Applico. After work he'd meet his girlfriend for dinner and the two of them would go on walks catching Pokémon together, though he'd often stay out later than she.
According to Johnson he spent anywhere between six to 10 hours a night walking around the city, staying up as late as 4 or 5 a.m. toward the end of his journey.
The road to Pokémon mastery was certainly not without adventure. Johnson said the craziest thing he did to catch one was order an Uber to drive him around Jersey City after another player tipped him off to an abundance of Dratini, a kind of Pokémon, there.
Catching them all isn't quite the end of the journey for Johnson. He said there are three regional Pokémon that are not available in the United States. The region exclusive Pokémon are Mr. Mime in Europe, Farfetch'd in Japan and Kangaskhan in Australia and New Zealand, but he'll soon have help catching those, too.
Johnson told CNN that Marriott Rewards offered to partner with him for the rest of his journey. A spokesperson for Marriott confirmed, saying, "Marriott Rewards will be helping Nick on his international journey to catch the last remaining Pokémon."
Johnson said the details are still in the works but he's very excited about the chance to take his skills internationally. In the meantime, "I'll probably be sleeping a little more regularly," he said.

So how do gyms work? I saw one that was controlled by my team that had 2 pokemon defending it and 5 min later had 4 defending it. But it wouldn't let me just add a pokemon to defend it. I could only fight them. And there were 4 at the gym. But I only got to pick 1 of mine. I beat 2 of them then lost. So what, I have to beat all 4 with only one of mine just to add mine to defend it or would I take it over? How did the other people add theirs to the gym?

Nah, you don't need to beat all 4, but it sure helps.
you just need to beat at least one to help raise the gym level. You can keep on beating that one Pokemon to slowly raise the level.
Once the gym level goes up one, then you can add a Pokemon to it.
and you only become the leader of the gym if you have the highest CP Pokemon assigned to the gym.

Like I said, you need to raise the level of the gym. For example from say level 4 to 5. Then you can add a Pokemon to it.
When you battle a friendly gym and beat a Pokemon you help fill up that level meter.
say the gym has a level of say 3000/4000 and beating that one Pokemon increases the level like 400points. You keep beating that same Pokemon until you bring it over 4000. Then you can add a Pokemon to it.

Meh, no real need. Your dragonite won't last long defending a gym.
6 Pokemon vs your 1 defending Pokemon is slaughter.
im only attavking gyms for that measily 10 coin per assigned Pokemon
need me a bag upgrade.

as I said before, the Pokemon must currently be assigned to a gym. They don't have to be the leader, just assigned.
and you have manually go and collect it, you don't auto get the coins.
And you can only collect every 20 hours.
you can get up to a max of 100 coins per day (or so I read)
10 coins per assigned Pokemon.
So if you have 3 Pokemon still assigned to a gym when you press the collect button, you will get 30 coins.

You click on this to collect. It will have a number in the shield based on how many assigned Pokemon you currently have.

^ What boggles my mind is the same Golduck I just beat was back on top. I looked around and nobody was around me. Unless some nerd was hiding behind all the brush and trees or down by the riverbank out of sight. Made no sense.
