I only do the bounties when I have gear or weapons to level up. I didn't even touch iron banner when it came out. I think the last time I tried crucible was back in October. Haven't done the new raid yet but I just hit level 31 last night so hopefully that'll keep me alive a little bit longer.

 

Some info for those that are interest and don't already know.

Old Exotics = 30 light
Old Legendary = 27 light
Either of the above Upgraded by Xur = 36 light

New Legendary = 33 light
New Event Legendary (Crota's) = 36 light

Light Requirements for...
lvl 30 = 120 light
lvl 31 = 132 light
lvl 32 cap = 144 light

I have enough gear, after upgrading what I do have with Xur, to reach 31.
Though I hear upgrading older gear will take some time since Xur has limited upgrades each appearance.

 

New exotic armor will also give you light +36. Finished the new raid last night. Took us 2-3 hours just to beat Crota.

 

So happy. Did the nightfall last night and got the chest piece I have been wanting for months; the Heart of Praxic Fire. Love how my character looks with the ThunderDevil shader and the Praxic Fire chest. So boss. Above is my entire layout minus a couple things in my vault, nothing special in there though except a second Husk of the Pit.

This new chest is beyond nuts. The Warlock Sunsinger's Radiance already lets them toss grenades at a crazy rate of speed but this chest almost doubles the amount of grenades the Sunsinger can already spam out in the same amount of time. I gave it a test run and wow. Nades for days.

Found two Husks of the Pit so I am hoping to eventually turn one into Eidolon Ally and the other into Necrochasm after Eidolon Ally. Just need 15 black wax idols and Rank 3 with Eris Morn and HOPEFULLY a Crux of Crota.

I am happy with my current weapons choices and I recently sold my SunBreaker Exotic, Light Beyond Nem Exotic, and Voidfang Exotic for the Exotic Shards since none of those will let me go as high as Praxic.. Voidfang would if I upgrade it with Xur but fuck that Praise the Sun!

Last find was the Invective Shotgun from the Exotic Bounty I finally got. Pretty cool shotgun that lets me pick up ammo and the gun regenerates ammo over time like my Ice Breaker. So pretty much a side shotty that always has ammo ready.

I can reach lvl 31 with my current armor. I will obviously need new Raid armor to cap. I have yet to attempt the new Raid. I anxiously await the challenge. I will be lvl 31 when I make my first run.

 

The new Raid is much easier than the Vault of Glass. Still fun to do but I was expecting a lot more. Even if you don't plan on beating the raid, at least drop down and grab the first chest right at the beginning. Just drop down and run towards the first lantern and as soon as the path opens up to the left take it and look for a light above that door. If the light is there grab the chest. If not, die and try again.

I just hit level 31 so I'll be trying the raid soon.
Did so with the Dead Orbit helmet above but I also finally got a Vanguard Commedation so I picked up a better looking helmet with slightly better attributes. Only level 30 before leveling it up but I can swap to 31 if I need to.

Don't see myself level caping at 32 and I dont really mind. Of course Ill grind at the raid every week so from there it comes down to chance.

Question for those who do the raids on hard. I hear you ultimately get better rewards if you do the raid on hard only verse doing it on normal and getting those rewards then doing hard to get more... any truth to this?

 

if you are doing VOG raid on Hard.. then yes, you get better stuff..

now if you are talking about CROTA'S END raid..hard mode is not out yet.. will be in january.. but it has been confirmed that you will get better loot from hard mode.

 

usdmJON, hard mode VoG opens up even more loot for you, especially weapons. I would predict a group of my friends won't reach 32 for at least a month due to the amount of radiant shards that are required for upgrade. Leve 31 is the new 29.

 

Doing VOG on hard is the only way to get Fatebringer (Templar stage), and Vex Mythoclast (Atheon), and the old raid helmet (Atheon). The only reason I still do the old raid is to get Fatebringer. Plus you'll get more shards and energy in the chests.

 

Sorry let me ask again.. What will ultimately get better/more loot?

Normal VoG then Hard Vog
or
Hard VoG ONLY

I was told if you do the VoG on hard first you get better/more rewards verse doing it on Normal and getting normal rewards then redoing it on hard for the hard rewards... Like doing it on hard AFTER doing it on normal wont get as much as doing hard first.

Any insight to that? I dont believe it is true.

 

Play on Hard means you'll get both loot for Hard and Normal. If you do it on Normal, you'll only get Normal loot. If you do it on Hard, you'll get both Hard and Normal loot. You won't get loot on Normal if you already did it on Hard. You don't get "more" or "better". You just get the loot that is intended for the level you're playing on.

It's exactly like playing the Weekly Heroic Strike. If you do the Level 30 then you get all of the Strange Coins reward. Why would you do the Level 26, then Level 28, then Level 30? Might as well just do the Level 30. You don't get "more" loot if you do the Level 30 first. You get the loot that is intended for Level 30. Same thing with VoG Hard.

So when you asked:

Normal VoG then Hard Vog
or
Hard VoG ONLY

The end result of loot is exactly the same for both options. The only difference is doing Normal then Hard just means you're wasting time.

 

Awesome. That was my assumption but I have had a few people tell me you ultimately get better loot or your roll is better if you attempt hard and not normal first. This didnt make sense to me so I asked.

I bought a new helmet with a vanguard com. Found a new shader too. Love both. I leveled the helmet all but one upgrade. Level 31 with 133 light. Once the helmet is capped I will be 135 light.

I tried the raid last night with my buddy. I have never used an on-line service like forums to find teammates. I have always done the raid with one of three groups whom I met when they spammed the tower room I was in. One ended up being from LA, pretty local, one in my town, and another I have no clue where from.

He found us a group, after waiting like an hour for them to find another 2 people we start and find out they are at the last save. Awesome... but not really. I have never even attempted it before and we are already on Crota.

To add, none of them care to explain what we were doing. Even after I said we need some pointers from the people who have done it; I was told we should go on youtube and figure it out. He then rage quit on us. We got another guy who then explained to us how to regain health against crota and when to attack him and what do to do when someone dies and the green sun novas. But that look two hours to get no where so I got off for the night.

I need to start it from the beginning with any of the groups I usually play with. They are all cool guys and every time we play we have someone new and they always explain what to do.

 

Got to play the new raid with a group I enjoy playing with.
The raid was very nice to me. Picked up the raid rocket launcher, raid gauntlets, and raid boots in one try.
Didn't even get one of the chests.

Now I just need to be lucky enough to find the really cool looking raid helmet and I can hit 32. As of now I can cap at 141 light... 3 away from the cap.

 

i got full raid gear.. but not enough radiant shards to level it up.

damn RNG keeps giving me radiant energy so i am upping my eris bountys and get rank for to trade in for radiant shards

I guess I just don't have the time to level up that many guardians. I can see having 3 warlocks as each only needs to be level like 20 before I can swap the gear u have to hit 31. But no way I'd have the time to level up another hunter or titan.

I'm still trying to play farcry plus mordor while get 3 books finished. One guardian is more than enough for me.

Jon, we raid a lot because almost everyone has at least 2 characters. Not only that, our group is now 14+ people so we sometimes help different group of friends through even though some of us won't get loot.

What do you guys think about No Land Beyond? The primary exotic bolt action sniper he is selling?

It has Mulligan which gives a chance for missed shots to return to the mag.
Other upgrade increases precision damage and follow up kills.

A lot of people are really saying it sucks and I sort of agree. I'll take my Ghorn upgrade, maybe a shard, and wait until next weekend.

Well, it looks like I'll be among the holiday newbs. I downloaded the demo a few days ago and really enjoyed it. Paid for it last night. They had the holiday flash sale going and the deluxe version was only $67 and change. With my $60 PSN credit, I only paid $7 and change for it. Looking forward to playing it some during the week.

 

Same. The new maxed out Gjallahorn is angry. Ran Devil Dog through both raids. His first time beating Crota and he gets Black Hammer lol.

 

Niiiice. Bungie commented that they hope the adjustments to the loot system wont be too generous. I think it is as I got the Raid Rockets (Crotas Hunger), Raid Gauntlets, and Raid Boots.... AND we missed a chest.

I can't wait to hit it again for more loot tomorrow.

I have not been using Ghorn as I have been leveling IceBreaker which takes the exotic slot leaving my Crota's Hunger to level up. It is pretty much the same the Ghorn minus the cluster actually tracking, Hunger just cluster bombs on impact, and the Ghorn has slightly more Blast Radius/Velocity, but not much. Making Hunger a great legendary launcher.

I'm wonder when the hard raid will be released.... I need one and a half more ranking in Crota before I can get Eidion's Ally. No idea if I spelled that right.

I played with one Xmas noob over my days off. It was cool helping him do the weekly until he wanted my account info so he could log on and download my DLC so he didn't have to pay for it. WTF? Get out of here 12 year old. Go mow some lawns or sell some lemonade.

Got myself a Christmas present of a PS4 and got Destiny with it for free. So far the game has a pretty good story going and I like the Halo feel. Kinda still trying to figure out how everything in the game works. Also, the lack of random match-making is kinda shitty. So I either have to solo this whole damn game or find some friends with a PS4 and Destiny and get them together whenever we want to run train on some baddies.

 

My suggestion blue bomber is do as much as you can solo bease you'll hit harder raids that require teams. Enjoy the solo stuff while you can.

I would do ever mission solo and on the hardest difficulty which is about a level or two higher than you normally are.

Then when you start doing nightfalls and raids you will need a team.

I do dailies and weeklies alone normally on hard. Then I get 9th team mate to hit nightfalls and I need 5-6 for raids still.

The raid loves me.

First time through missed the chest behind the two shreakers and still got the raid boots, raid gloves, and raid rockets.

Tonight, second time through and we stopped at Crota to finish tomorrow. Picked up the raid chest and the new exotic rockets Dragon's Breath. I can't wait to try out the Solar Flare effect since I loved the Solar grenade with the Sunsinger.

Hunger of Crota, Ghorn, and Dragon's Breath. Oh my. Add Thunderlord and the new legendary vanguard machine gun with arch round out my heavy section just fine.
Special section has two weapons that regenerate ammo, IceBreaker sniper and Invective shotgun exotics plus Murmur and a legendary arc sniper from the vanguard make for some great options.
My primary is my weakest selection with a fully upgraded Atheon's Epilogue and Vision of Con. Also have Husk of the Pit and enough Wax Idols to upgrade to the legendary Eidolon's Ally. Just need 1.25 ranking more with Eris.

I just need an exotic or raid helmet and I can max with enough radiant shards. Fingers crossed for a raid helmet after defeating Crota this week... or next. Would rather keep Praxic Fire if possible. Easily the best armor piece for my play style.

Finally got a Crucible Com thanks to the New Monarchy. I don't touch the crucible except for Exotic Bounty tasks.
With the New Monarchy rank 3 I finally got the icon I have wanted. The crown. Fits my medieval looking SunSinger.

Gloves and Boots are ready to level up once I collect Radiant Shards. I just need the raid helmet for the full set or an Exotic Helmet to cap once everything is upgraded.

75 more XP with Eris to hit Crota's Bane rank 2. One more rank and I can use the black wax idols I have been saving to turn both Husks of the Pit into Edilon's Ally. Then I just need that damn Crux of Crota for the Nechrochasm.

Still need to do VoG on Hard all saves.
