The Official Honda S2000 Thread
Thanks. That's what 9k rpm sounds like from the exhaust POV. That GoPro is the best little camera I've ever used for car video! All it needs is better sound and it will be perfect.
Does anyone here have the Hondata reflash?
It's for the '06 - '08 models.
VTEC point decreased from 6000 rpm to 5600 rpm
VTEC window from 5600 to 6400 rpm.
Rev limit 8500 rpm
Maximum torque gain 14 ft/lbs torque at 5800 rpm
Maximum power gain 16 hp at 5800 rpm
Fully dealer compatible - works with all Honda scan tools and equipment
I figure for $295 it's hard to beat.

Installed a new headunit today along with new speakers.
Kenwood KDC-BT952HD
HD radio, XM, CD, USB, Bluetooth/BT audio/Pandora
Sounds great! Tucked the USB cable in the passenger footwell in the net, ready for a USB stick or an iPod.

Modifry is needed since the side controls are on separate harness that plugs into the head unit. The modifry harness connects to most of the newer head units. Simple harness hookup. Works great!
My ONLY complaint is that for some reason I have to manually pair my iPhone each time for Pandora (takes 20 seconds at most), not sure why or if I'm doing something wrong.

I had to manually pair my Android with my Sony headunit each time. I couldn't figure out how to get it to automatically connect. It was quite frustrating.
The OEM radio in my Tacoma pairs automatically each time with the same phone.

Really wishing I hadn't sold the S2000 now. I love my truck but every time I see an S2000 I remember how much fun it was to drive; it's an excellent driving experience.
Now that I have a practical daily driver I might need a new toy

I've almost had mine for a year.
I moved to a new apartment this past weekend, and drove a uhaul van around for a few hours. When I got back in my S, it felt like the first time I drove it and had me saying "holy shit" out loud from how great it was.

Anyone else with an '06+ having issues with tears in the soft top (passenger side)?
Mine tore tonight, simply by raising it. Yes, it's a 'known issue' for 06's but this is BS.

Right, but there is a TSB for 2006's and a few others. A consistent tear spot is annoying...
Basically there is a rough spot on one of the metal hoops, it rubs and wears down the top, eventually a hole forms.

And ken, my top had that same passenger-side tear. I had an 04 though.
not only did they replace the top, they sanded down the metal loop near the area and touched up the section with some kind of paint.
my car is a 2006 and replaced the top in 2010.

I am currently testing his midpipe and the TQ gains in mid range are amazing.
The Flashpro is a great tool if you have a DBW AP2.
have the shop put a patch of leather over the offending spot to prevent it from happening in the future.
I always like to think about what car i can buy even though i'm not in the market yet. Give me a couple years. Lets say though in two years i am... I was thinking about the FR-S and how i'd love to have that car. Then today an S2000 drove by me and i realized... wait this is basically the same thing but probably better? And would be cheaper cause it would be used?
How much can these be found for with average mileage and great condition? I'm guessing this car really holds its value really well?
Would you choose this or an FR-S?

would you say the s2000 has a pretty hard ride?? This would obviously be a DD and i dont need more than two seats, but then i guess the FRS does have a much bigger and useful trunk? hmm this would be a tough choice haha
i wanna learn more about this car, time to do some research! Important question though, as it would be my first manual car, easy to learn? Well i know basics as i've been taught. But my driving is limited to parking lots and once on the road for a couple miles.
I just plan on learning on whatever car i get (and i do require that my next car be a manual)

I had the same level of experience when I got mine. It's not too bad, but there are definitely easier cars for beginners, ones with more torque that won't stall as easily. Easiest thing to do is let out the clutch without giving it gas and see where the car starts to move and the engine starts to bog. When you take off, start giving it gas just before the clutch is at that point, and keep letting out on the clutch. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Once you get that down, you can start learning to rev-match and heel-toe downshifts.

yupp thats how i was taught, guess i had a good teacher.
I just hate it when i get into a friends car that i've never driven and i'm just sitting there slowly letting go of the clutch to find it and i keep going and going and going
then i get impatient and move too fast and stall. I know i'll be fine with it though, on any car i get.

Sorry to hear that.
