Thanks guys. This is for my brother, and he won't be able to get it til March, but we are looking early for good deals. I guess this wasn't one of them. I'll be checking in and out since we are getting serious.

Shawn,
You need to hit up some of the DFW s2ki people.
Likely if this is from LR, it is someone that is known in the DFW group.
Also LR has a really bad rep as a dealer.

It'll be well worth your time finding a properly taken care of S2K.
It might be a bit hard but try finding some off-lease. They'll be a bit more expensive, but they're CPO, mileage is low, and there's usually a small chance they've been abused.
On the other hand, another option could be checking out reposessed ones. They're usually dirt cheap. They're pretty effing rare, though.
Anybody know if there's an aftermarket IP? I've never been a fan of the digital dash, and would prefer the old-fashioned needles for tach, speedo, etc. Not looking at getting an S2K soon, just curious.

Well, I finally got around to taking a look at the exhaust hangers since I wanted to see which hanger it was to order the correct part.
All 5 hangers are there. So I have no clue what the dealership was talking about.
Here is the rear hanger on the passenger side. It looks a little funny so maybe it does need replaced but it certainly isn't "missing" as the dealership implied.
Front hanger on the passenger side is perfect.

Here's a video I made of the sound I'm referring to.
You may need to turn your speakers up a bit to hear it clearly.

Maybe a tiny hole in the exhaust system?
I dunno, but next time you go to that dealership get them to show you what they're talking about

Are all AP2 gear boxes notchy? Test drove the car today its not bad just may not be for me. Could really do any spirited driving but it doesnt seem like a bad DD.

The AP2 I drove was smooth as silk. Was it very cold? How many miles were on it?

If the gearbox is notchy, it likely needs a tranny fluid change, especially at that mileage. When I bought my AP1, it was sporting the original fluid that had been inserted at assembly in Japan. Changing the fluid took away all the 1-2 gear notchiness.

The cars was cold but its about 77 here. Second was the worst I almost couldn't get in there on the first try. Overall I think S2K is a good fair weather car but it just felt a little tight. Im not a big guy 5'9 200 but it would take some getting used to how small it really is. Plus they wanted 17k even though there website says 15k. I shrugged it off because I wasn't there to talk price. But I would offer them 14k.

I don't know how it fits anyone that's over 6'. I know iTimmy said it fit him well because of his body structure (speaking of which, where is the guy?!?!) but I'm 5'7", 150 and it fit me like a glove. It seems like the perfect car for me, but I would never trust leaving it outside

6'1" 180# and it fits like a glove.
on the notchiness. Cold and or old fluid are the culprits 99.9% of the time. Nice part is botha re easily resolvable.

The noise you hear near 3k rpm is normal.. both of my 05 and 07 have the same noise... except mine is exactly at 3k rpm, not at 2.8k
You will also hear Drone when you first start the car in the morning, especially if you warm up your car in the garage, you could actually feel the drone if you stand outside, but it goes away after it is warmed up.
You will also experience ridiculous jerky shaking when you let go the gas at low speed in 1st gear. 06+ are better, 04-05 are the worst.
with AC on, your first 2 gears feel slower than a civic and AC compressor is extremely loud and make weird noises under extreme hot days.
S2000 is extremely sensitive to temp and weight, so my suggestion to you is never carry anyone and never use your AC!!!

But that noise is normal? It's obnoxious and unfortunately most of the time I'm driving around whatever the appropriate gear I am in for the speed I'm traveling the revs are right around 2,500-3,000 (unless I'm at highway speed).
I'll have to have someone local with an S2K take a ride and confirm but thanks for the input.
I guess maybe I'll need to go with aftermarket exhaust to change the sound

Dealership fail. It looks like the car was repaired to like-new condition, at least.

I mean... it took me a month to notice. And I've washed it 3 times and waxed it once so yes it's a damn good repair. I first noticed a little paint on the bolts holding the fender on and then started looking more closely at the paint. The front bumper is ever so slightly darker than the fenders.
And now that I think about it, that was little to no swirl marks on the front bumper and driver's front fender.

Three Wheelin'
Unfortunately, that's the way most dealers do business. It's the buyer's responsibility to do a full inspection on the car. When I was shopping for a 335i, I was at BMW of Arlington and met Omar Stwodah. He tried to pass off a misaligned hood as not having any issues.

Stage 1 Audi S5
That sucks MrSteve but a sales person is going to tell you anything they can to sell the car and make it look better and I would def. investigate a lot after hearing it was in an accident. Does carfax even show a replaced windshield and wouldn't it read as just that, a windshield replacement?

having owned an s2k.. i can personally say it is the most beautiful and most fun car to race. i had an AP1, and the only thing i would have liked from the AP2 would have been the traction control.
sounds stupid, but those cars spin out if yu so much as breathe on the gas pedal wrong.
AP1 engine, with AP2 tranny in an AP2 is FTW! that 9k redline is gorgeous.

As a current AP1 owner, I will disagree somewhat. The AP1 requires respect. As long as you pay attention to what you doing, all the time (hey it's a sports car so that's your main job in driving one anyway, right?), you will be just fine.
Or you can take the track I did--I changed the difference between the front and rear tire widths from 20 mm (225/245) to 30 mm (225/255), which helps. I still respect the car and even after almost three years with it, I am still learning to live with it.

I was checking out S2ki the other day and saw a thread by a member in Colorado regarding a K24 swap. He gained 50whp/50wtq. I like the simplicity of it too. And the K series is a much better motor compared to the F (no offense to the F lovers). My yearning for an S just keeps getting greater and greater.

Guys I can't believe I missed the paintwork on my car. I've become super anal about it today. Do you think I could have the whole front end re-sprayed in an attempt to blend it better?
My fiancee hadn't noticed either until I showed her and she said "wow" I do notice. The bumper and front fender are a darker shade of red than the rest of the car. Annoyed
