^The actual widths of the rims are staggered from the factory on S2Ks- pretty sure it has something to do with driving stability

OK guys, how about these Work Meisters?

Not the split spokes I like, and that car is lowered more than I'd like, but I think they'd look REALLY good in 17's in that color. There's a vendor on S2KI selling them in safe offset with 17 X 8 front and 17 X 9 rear for around $2150. Also, while they are also common on S2ks, they are not as common as the CE28s. Did I say I like the color on silver, as mine is?

I'm not really trying to mod, but these wheels are starting to grow on me...

I love the meisters. They have a flat black version which also looks really nice.

I like the rears but the fronts look funny, how is the weight on them? Also, please don't use blue lugnuts!

I like them a lot as well but they are not very unique. Rota D2's are the same style as well and are much cheaper if you are not a brand whore

I'm not a brand whore, so I'm open to suggestions. ("I'm all JDM'd up, yo!" ) There's a place that has an 18" "stacker" (sic ) set especially for the S, for only $810 before shipping. Better than $2k any day....but the Rotas are only in black with a polished lip.

You certainly cannot compare the quality of work vs. rota. Work is far superior, in every way.

I'm not a fan of any of those wheels on the S2000. If anything, get OEM AP2 rims.

Nah. I like the OEM 2008 CR wheels better. I'd love for a CR owner to dump a set at a great price....then I'd pounce.

For now....the stock AP1 16s are the best match for me. I just can't find anything better.

Mine's an 06.

- DBW has no lag whatsoever. On the road or on the track, system works great.

- Tons of people who have AP1s have driven my car and have made no mention of any lag or problems.

- One owner on s2ki who recently upgraded from an 05 to an 08 said that he felt that the DBW was a definite improvement over the cable linkage

- DBW exists for a reason in the NSX and McLaren F1 - when implemented properly, it allows for a more linear feel. I think in the case of the S2k, it works very well - don't let so-called 'hardcore-purists' tell you otherwise.

I never said anything about quality I'm saying that they are the same style wheel for much cheaper. I know just like everyone else that Work uses better materials and craftsmanship, but to some it's not worth an extra $1,000+

$1k more for quality wheels is worth it.

Honestly, I don't think it is. I've seen quite a few of that year on Autotrader. I think people are just aggressively pricing their "toys" for the cash.

Doesn't look like a scam. I'd hit it in a minute if I were looking for an S.

As far as spending $1000 more on quality wheels....some people have kids that they have to someday put through college, and therefore invest and save.....

.....but luckily I can afford Work wheels even after I do that.

Stay in school, kids, and you'll be able to do the same.

So is insurance really that brutal on the S2k? Thinking about tradining in the TL for something smaller...I think right now insurance is about $3,500/yr , I wonder how much more the S2k would be with a mint driving record?

Are you kidding me? Insurance was only about $1.6k/yr for me when I had mine.

I bet it won't- you would be surprised. It's barely more expensive then my 2001 TL was so I can't imagine a 3rd gen TL.

I don't want to take this thread off topic, but this was the cheapest quote I got. Errie insurance wanted $6,500/yr I'm with all-state now, but Geiko wasn't any cheaper.

Why would Honda introduce something that isn't better than the old one?

Plus, I've driven both AP1s and AP2s... AP2>AP1 in my opinion.

Those silver Meister S1s are REALLY growing on me. I'm really thinking of pulling the trigger on them. I REALLY need to stay away from S2KI. Dangit, I bought an S to prevent my RL from becoming more of a money pit........now all I've done is to buy another money pit.

Going from a 07 G35X to a 08 S2000 created an annual increase of $60. Many factors go into calculating insurance premiums, one that is often overlooked is credit rating, if you have a solid credit score your insurance will be cheaper then someone with a less then spectacular score. In addition to the obvious factors, age, marital status, driving record/history, multi-lines customer, etc....

neuronbob,

Did you honestly think you weren't going to modify the S2k? Look at the vendor support for it! I like Work rims ... but I love Volk rims even more. Pure Adrenaline was helping a friend sell his staggered set of Volks that fit the S2k like a glove ... they were the hawtness. Just the offsets don't give you that many choices ...

I thought I wasn't going to do anything to the S. Then I found S2KI and S2CA. You are totally right, the vendor support for the S is staggering compared to anything for today's Acuras.

Well, at least I haven't thought about touching the RL anymore. It's perfect.

Mod #1 complete tonight: PA-HON11 with iPod wiring, XM Roady XT in the glove compartment, install of a 2-way alarm system. I feel slightly safer leaving the car in public now, and I can get my hourly CNN fix while in the S.

Mod #2...probably gonna be those Work Meister S1 2 piece wheels above, in 17" size. There simply aren't very many good-looking wheels for the S. Somebody stop me from buying them! Tell me they're too heavy, too ugly, or something!
