Peetarrr!! Do it!! You need to spend some time in mine next time in town
Now for the Kicker,
Kirk / Teh Snaps (my roomate and best friend for those who don't know him), well his girl Samatha had been looking for a new car, and she wanted a convertible. Of course the S2000 was the only option I could push
So after some searching I found one for sale in the FS Forum. I got her approval and started talking to the owner about it. Sounded like a great car that was very well maintained. After inspecting everything I could think of, I came up with no flaws, I mean NONE! This car is more flawless than my own.
They flew out to Wilmington, NC and drove it back.
2002 Sebring Silver/ Solid Red Interior (my fav interior ) 32k Miles. Only upgrade was the 5 spoke forged 17" wheels. The top shows little to no wear. I'm very impressed with this car.
Anyway, enough talk, here are the pics. (and I'm a dumbass for not taking any daytime pics after cleaning it up :pat: )

Beautiful, Chopsie, just beautiful.
And only 34k miles to boot on a 2002, that's not bad.
I'm still only at around 17k miles in my 2002. Been driving the V a lot lately, though.

Which one would you guys choose.
-- 02 AP1 with 17k miles for 14K
-- 04 AP2 with 60K miles for $13.5k
-- Both are clean, one owner, very well kept and all maintenance records available.

The extra torque is quite nice though, plus the suspension IMO is better on the AP2

I am leaning towards Ap2 as well as I love the styling and with the kind of driving style that I have the extra torque certainly helps. Even if I do get the Ap1 I know for a fact that I'll be investing in the AP2 headlight and tail lights.
One more thing that I forgot to mention, AP1 is from MA and AP2 is from AZ. Even though the owner of AP1 has mentioned that the car was stored during winter times I'd prefer the AP2 since it barely saw any rain and no snow down in AZ.

how long do you plan on keeping the car. if its for a long time i say get the AP1. you can always do the conversion and whatnot. and its got lower miles. if you plan on keeping it for a short time go for the AP2 and avoid the hassle. 60K and 17K is a big difference. also is there anything mechanically that needs to be done to the AP2. hows the clutch. i hear that is a big job to do. i went with a AP1 02 with 18.5K miles just because i plant on having it for a while and the insurance was a little cheaper than the AP2

The key with purchasing a S2k is patience. Wait for the exact car you want, in the condition you want for a price that you feel is fair.

They are very reliable and fantastic to drive, however, if I were to shop for a used AP2, I would look at 04-05. In 2006 they went to drive by wire and while it is implemented well, most who have driven both prefer the regular cable. Coincidentally the drive by wire cars still use a throttle cable, but it doesn't go to the throttle, it goes to a solenoid and in order to get better pedal feel it requires a little trial and error adjustment. Given the choice, I would much rather have a 04-05 and not deal with the added electronics that started popping up in 06. This will also drive the price of the S2000 down a bit further making it an even more attractive purchase.

I too would prefer a 987 but they jump in price by about $5,000 for a similarly equipped 986S. I don't think I'm ready to spend well over $30k on a car. I'd rather buy a boat. but mid $20's is reasonable.
I would also prefer a '04-'05 for the traditional throttle linkage and I think the wheels look nicer. But it seems the '04-'05 are harder to come by than an '06. For some reason there is an abundance of '06's available at local dealerships.
I'm in no rush to buy a car but I really don't know exactly what I want. I also wouldn't mind a C5 ZO6... need to drive one. There are a ton of fun, good used cars out there in the ~$20-25k range right now.

You may want to take a look at 350Z too, a different take on the driving experience, but fun none the less.

There's no point rushing into anything like this, take your time, drive a bunch of cars and see what you like! I had a friend who had both a C5 Z06 and at the same time a Ferrari 355, he sold the 355 not long after he got the Z06, couldn't justify the premium for less performance, he greatly preferred the Z06 all around.

Your right its not that nice inside of the C5. But for the price its the best preforming car, My friends father just bought a mint 50 anniversary zo6 and it HAULS!

My 08 CR! Love it, but I'm selling it to buy a new house
The CR's are edging out Z06's on the track and AutoX! They hate spending that much money and having that big of a motor and still being a second or so behind!
