first question should be how much can you spend? Lol

if you go bigger you'll have to lower it slightly to keep it from looking like a 4x4. If you lower too much you'll need camber kits to keep from eating through your new tires.

so you see depending on what your going to do it can get expensive real quick.

I have money, that is not so much the problem. I was not planning to lower it since where I live the roads are horrible and there are too many bad hills. I just was wondering anyone had any thoughts about how the Acura TL type S wheels from 2007-2008 would look?

Way to small. If youre not going to lower it, stick with OEM wheels. Id go for the HFP 19s that are available for the Accord, or the ASpec wheels from a TSX. The RDX wheels might look nice as well.

Sorry, that should be TL not TSX (similar wheel, different widths).

What color do you plan on getting? How's your current AV6 running?

Small update on my money pit:

New axles, 75A Innovative mounts and new transmission mounts go on Saturday.

D'oh. I'll have to watch for one. I saw one a while back for sale when I was looking at a TSX but decided it was more luxury-oriented than I wanted. Well, that and this car was priced at $30K used. There are a lot of choices once you get in that range.

In a different vein, I thought I would buy the 2007 V6 Coupe, despite its issues, if it was still available Monday (only day I had free). It wasn't.

I traded my 07 AV6 almost two years ago in favor of an 09 MDX. Fortunately, I never got to see it deteriorate. Pending a successful job offer, I'll be looking to secure this 2012 AV6 EX (black/black cloth) that I have my eye on.

Your car looks really nice. I was wondering if the larger wheels have effected your gas mileage or your speed 0-60 in a positive or negative way?

About the gas mileage I haven't really noticed to much nor do I really car about that. 0-60 I feel like it effected it a little bit, they are much heavier then stockies

What a day .

I went to my mechanic's place with my new 75a bushings, transmission mounts and axles.

Turns out the transmission mounts I ordered were for autos and the new 75a mount's didn't fit into the existing Innovative metal bases as easy as I'd hope.

We tried just about everything, WD40, Vice grips, every little trick in the book and we could not get these 75a bushings to go into the mount without one side slipping out and the other going in.

We just said f-it .. I'm going to order a completely new set of mounts and sell off these ones once I figure out how to pop in these bushings .

Axles installed successfully and the car feels a lot better on acceleration. Wheel doesn't shimmey anymore and no more popping axles!

Back to the drawing board on making my engine / transmission solid though, a lot of wasted time today.

^Sorry to hear that, just one of those things that happens time to time. On the bright side, I'm sure you learned a few things. And at least you got the axles done right.

Hello all...

I have an opportunity here and if I can talk my parents into it, I'll be jumping on it. Long story short, just before my grandfather on dad's side died, he bought Mama Red (my grandmother's long-time nickname) a brand-new 1993 Accord EX in Rosewood Brown Metallic with the bordeaux red interior. It has leather but I don't know if the EX came standard or even offered leather in '93 so I'm thinking it might have been an after-market add-on.

Either way, the car was bought at Brew Honda in Longview, Texas and I'm 99.9% sure the car has not left the state since and has been garaged since new. It also only has 105,000 miles on it but is getting a bit tired. The paint started failing on the rear left of the roof and was quickly patched up but otherwise, it's solid. The inside is pretty tight minus the leather drying out and a broken door handle surround on the driver door. Everything works including the sunroof, cruise control, and A/C.

Now it will need a major servicing and the paint will require a lot of attention to return to glossy but for the most part, I think it's a great car and I'd love to keep it in the family if possible. I'll keep it mostly stock and I was going to offer her $1,500 for it.

What do you think?

Edit: It looks exactly like this minus the window and sunroof visors....and not as shiny.

I want to, trust me.

I just did some looking around to price out how much it'll cost for me to fix what's currently broken. The passenger side mirror mount is broken and Honda no longer makes the part. Anybody know of any good parts websites for older Hondas?

Accord getting a little sandy . Awesome sunsets after the rains came through SoCal.

Update on the car:

Did the oil, tightened up a couple heatshields and performed some regular maintenance (washer fluid fill ). Car is running great, no complaints @ 115,000mi.

I'd do it Andrew, especially knowing the history. There are a number of wreckers dealing specifically with Japanese products, so getting a mirror will be no problem. Even if you have to put another $3000 into paint, repairs, and servicing, you'll have a great driver.

I think you should do it. It's a great car, with relatively few miles for its age and has personal value.

I had a '90 Accord, same color, that wound up needing a fair amount of repair. I was talked into letting it go and kind of regret it.

Thanks for the encouragement, folks. I plan on doing most of the work myself and since I work for a Honda dealer, I can use the lifts and I get a hefty discount on parts.

I e-mailed my aunt earlier and if she is open my offer, I'll talk to dad and go from there. Getting it home from the Hill Country of Texas isn't going to be cheap but I'll figure it out.

Hey guys!
Need a little help with my '04 I4 MT coupe.

My stereo works.
When lights are turned on the screen dims. Everything still works including the HVAC controls. But the screen is so dark that its hard to see.
The buttons on the HVAC work, but do not light up.
What could be the issue?

Thanks

Is it only the stereo that's dim?

Turn the trip knob (sticking out of the IP) clockwise, it should turn the brightness up. Otherwise, there's an issue.

Thanks Aman! The weighted knob makes a little bit of a difference, makes the gear changes a little smoother with the added weight. I had my friend drive my car the other night and didn't know how to go into reverse .

I'm getting a new wheel but keeping all of the airbags / switches, it's coming from an 06 LX sedan I believe. Mine is so worth out, it catches dirt / grime really easily .. I purchased it right after I read this thread:

How's your Accord doing? Any detailing plans when you get it back?

Nice, is the LX's steering wheel leather-wrapped as well?

Meh, the Accord's doing all right, thanks for asking. It is getting noticeably older. The engine is starting to show it's age, it's got a little bit of that old Honda chatter when warming up.

Gotta take care of a bunch of stuff on it, too. The headlights are both hazed, hood needs a repaint after it got keyed last summer, the rear bumper still has that scratch on it, and the front bumper has rock chips galore. Oh, it needs new tires, possibly an axle or two, the black piece in separating the rear windows from the quarter windows are rusting, and so are the rear wheel wells.

So... yeah. It needs a detail and some other stuff. It'll survive until next summer, then I'll give it a bit of an overhaul. Thankfully, no leaks or drivetrain issues. 133k and counting!
