The Official Honda Accord Thread

I'd post a pick of my 07 AV6 but, it looks no different than any other stock 06-07 AV6 EX-L w/Navigation.

EDIT: Be that as it may:

2005 six speed. Completely factory except for body colour painted splash guards and the removal of all emblems. I've owned it for almost exactly four years to the day. I thought I would drive it on a regular basis, but unfortunately it sits in storage with a bunch of rowdy American iron. To date it has about 18 000 kilometers (or about 12 000 miles) and except for these photos, has never been in rain or snow. I know, I know....................

Nice cars. I think the 7th and 8th gen Accord coupe look so much better then the OEM skirt kit is added -- it adds a sporty subtleness to it. Not over the top 'rice' like some 3rd party companies out there.

I was *this* close to trading in my '02 TL-S for the 8th gen Accord (EX-L in the 6MT) but looked at the Canadian MSRP ... and laughed. When C$1 = US$1, I opted for my G37S.

I love Hondas (Acuras have lost their way). But I couldn't justify a ~C$40k FWD coupe. And US Honda dealerships won't sell me a Honda.

Great looking 6 spd, Terry. It looks like it just rolled right off the lot it's so clean. I probably would've bought a silver one before red but there weren't any other 6spds anywhere in my area when I was looking. Ever since my silver CRX I've had a thing for silver Hondas.

Terry, does your 6spd have daytime running lights? I'm just curious because where your lights are on is where my high beams are located and can only be illuminated when the headlights and parking lights are on. Is it a Canadian-only option?

Thanks ST169. I like the red shade on your car as well. Red was never offered on the Canadian coupes. I took these pics recently, as the car hadn't run for about four months. My dealer has had to replace the battery under warranty, due to the car's inactivity. Sometimes I think I should just sell it, but each time I drive it I fall in love with it again. It replaced my 540 six-speed, and I actually consider it to be a better car (although all my warranty issues with BMW probably had something to do with that).

To answer your question, yes, it has daytime running lights. All Canadian specification automobiles and equipment are required to have it. I understand the light assemblies are quite different between the US and Canadian models.

Didn't have any V6 6MT's when I was shopping for one, so I settled for an I4. I didn't want to deal with any possible tranny problems down the road the V6 5AT might develop, though I sometimes wish I had gotten the V6 5AT.

Very nice cars guys. I love the 6th gen Accord. All trim levels are great. The 6spd coupes are extremely quick and very fun to drive. The 5at is no slouch either. I worked for Honda at an Auction and these were 90% of my inventory. I loved driving the EX-L V6. When an MT car came in, it was my lot car until it was time for auction. lol

The 6spd sedan is excellent. I was considering one before I got my TL-S.

I was moments away from signing on the dotted line for a 6MT sedan when a fleeting consideration of my wife's inevitable reaction (to a manual transmission) compelled me to get the 5AT.....which is truly a boat anchor to the J30A5. (The 6MT is a blast to drive)

Honestly though, a while back I test drove a new 07 AV6 hybrid and the thing was complete rattle bucket....which totally surprised me, given it's Made in Japan build.

let me first clear something up

<---NOT my Accord, although I wish it was.

I was actually thinking about starting an official Honda Accord thread, because quite a few people on this board have them.

I've got a Graphite 03 EX 4cylinder, wishing it was a 6speed, but the 5ATs prety good. Coming from a Cav, this car's great. Smooth, quick, just...better in every way. I'm even getting better mileage

Anyone know if the 5AT is known to have the same problems as the 5AT in the 2g TL?

@SuperTrooper169: I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my headlights that you did to yours. Did you just get a rattle can of black spray paint? What did you do?

Looking forward to learning from you guys

really? the 8th gens are having rattle problem and misaligned interior problems. but none of the ones built in japan (i believe its lx sedans only) have rattle problems.

You can take the stock headlights apart and paint the inside black, but I opted to get new headlights instead of messing with my stock ones. I live in Arizona and the stock lenses were very hazzed over from the sun, so I got DEPO blackhoused headlights off of eBay and installed HIDs in them.

Not for the I4 5AT.... so you're safe. As for the V6 5AT... so far only on the 2003-2005 models. I'm not aware of any 06-07 V6 5AT that have had tranny issues.

Great rides.

Mods:
I think it'd be a good idea to have a sub-forum under the car talk section that solely focus on some other famous cars on AZ. (3-series, Infiniti Gs, Subaru whatever, Accord....) Like put all those official *** threads into the sub-forum. IMO, it'll look much more organized that way.......

Nice Accords in this thread.

We had a black 2007 6MT Sedan for 13 days....

Here's what's left of it....

The body shop/ insurance company totaled it out and we got a new one. No more black though.

Accord 6 MT are so overlooked. When that Engine and tranny is broken in completely I swear its drives like something made in Germany. That blender sounding V6 is great to my ears. Not too loud or quiet.

^ I agree, although the stock exhaust is a little too quiet for my tastes. Now I have IMO the perfect sounding exhaust note. I still get giddy rowing through the gears.

I can't access photobucket here at work.

I have an '04 Accord EX V6, and have not had any problems with the transmission. Just make sure you change the transmission fluid every 60K miles, and you'll be OK.

I have a little over 101K miles on my '04, and I love it.

I LOVE the sound of your exhaust. I have the resonator and pre-muffler removed and instead have a piece of 2.25" piping going from the 3rd cat to the Y-pipe. Is the sound all in the CL-S mufflers?

Here my car at the track:

Thank you, EPS CL! The CL-S mufflers are a large part of the sound, but I think it's more a combo of everything together. I previously owned a CL-S (which is what brought me to AcuraZine) and I loved the sound of the stock mufflers after having my headers installed, so I figured they would sound similar on the J30 with some free flowing piping. I have a 2.5" mid-pipe to 2.25" y-pipes, no resonator or pre-muffler, and a j-pipe and test-pipe, which definitely add to the overall tone. The V2 comes into play too, it's very deep sounding on the intake side of things.

I got all the 3rd catback piping for free from a guy on craigslist that wanted to trade for a stock exhaust, which I still had. Once I tracked down some CL-S mufflers from the BM section, I had his crappy eBay mufflers cut off and the CL-S mufflers welded on. In all honesty it sounds better than I ever imagined when I thought the whole thing up. I'll never forget when the muffler shop guys got done welding the mufflers on and they started it and gave it a few revs in the garage. I loved what I heard!

BTW I love the silver/black wheels look on your coupe. Very nice!

I've got an 8th gen sedan, a picture is in the Avatar. Personally I'm not a fan of it, I wish I had purchased the coupe and in the V6 trim, I'm considering trading up for one. We shall see, who knows though, spending $2,000 to upgrade seems pointless at the point.
