My friend was going to cancel his m5 order. His dealer said “nah man. Order it and make it however you want. If you don’t end up getting it we can sell it no problem!” Mind you he’s leased at least 10 cars from them...

when my my dad ordered his 5 back in 89 when we lived in Germany and did factory delivery...we did the whole tour and went to receive the car...cloth seats, dad had ordered leather. Someone done fucked up. There were options but we were moving back to the states soon, the car needed to shipped...he begrudgingly took an extra discount to take the car.

I called the dealer and they will investigate and let me know.... last time i checked this dealership does not have any allocations for 2018... and 2019 prices are obviously shit, since there is no incentives.

I will see what happens.
worst case scenario, i will just take it if they can give me another $2k off. First world problem.

Yah especially in so cal... they have no issue moving them. It is fucked up for me but they can turn around sell the car to someone else at a higher price the next day.
if i ordered the 8AT and the car came with 6mt, it would be a very different conversation.

So, slapstick aside, if the dealership ordered the wrong car for you, oonowindoo, that's screwed up. They should find a way to rectify the issue esp. given that your car's not exactly chump change.

I dunno, get what you want and not settle, right?

I would review this with the dealership.

Review the dealership does nothing... remember i am in the 626... we just dont care.
There are only 2 options for me: i wait 3 more months, which i am not planning to do. or get a discount that i cannot refuse especially i have been driving the 8at for the past 3 years and i am OK with it.
I already got a deal that is better than what 99% of the people would get on a ordered car (funny how that worked out), so any additional/significant discount is unlikely.

So we will see.

K...if you are getting a credit, that's not terrible. BUT, that being said, 3 months isn't horrid considering that the word from the Owdee dealership GM today is that the S5 may not get to me until January ( ). So, up to you.

Given the new timeline, I'm buying other crap in "installments". May as well buy the winter wheels, Weathertech mats sometime in August or September...I can go stare at my tires or something when they arrive.

I know...I'll set up 4 chairs, stand up the wheels, and have the mats put on the ground. And pretend to drive.

It seems to me that if someone ordered a 6MT
For sure you don't fuck that up

I'm sure they have a hard enough time getting those out the door
Probably 10 to 20 ATs for every 1 MT

I guess that's also part of the problem... check check check, didn't read shit.

I already waited for a few months already.... i aint waiting half a year for a car... unless it is some kind of 6 digits exotics that i cant afford.
The dealer just told me that to come by when the car arrives and they will do everything they can to make it right..... you know the typical dealership talks...

Funny thing, he's listing his cars for sale. Posted them yesterday. Aventador, M3, F-Type, A8 and getting a 720S.

He's a business man, owns a couple gyms and owns a credit repair company.

The actual take rate is probably more than 10-20 for every 1mt.... dealers here in so cal really hesitate to order 6mt... because if the buyer backs out (100% refundable), they are stuck with something that they cannot get rid of for a LOOOOG time...

Considering that snowstorms here can leave about 3 feet of snow, um...yes. AWD don't equate to stopping power even if the brakes on the S5 are pretty good from reviews and what I experienced when I was test driving. Those brakes won't stop the car from sliding with the performance tires it comes with.

Combined with my genetics of Asian driving, I need all the help I can get.

Nope. Big mistake many people make or assume. In theory, all-seasons would be great in regards to their treads if their freezing points were not so high and if the snow wasn't so deep. The issue is that once they freeze from the temperature, they are useless. Winter tires have deeper treads that allow for better grip and don't freeze in bitter temperatures. It's all about stopping. I can tell you the number of times I've seen 4X4 trucks or Jeeps who think they are invincible but do NOT have winter treads that are in the roadside ditch in storms.

It's all about the shoes. Yes, it's that here. No wonder no one moves to Canada.

Plus it's an excuse to get aftermarket wheels. One set for summer and one set for winter.

you need traction in the winter... wtf is that 19 x 8.5 shit... go get some 19x10 with 305 winter tires... you will have all the traction in the world. Even RLX with upgraded tires will be jealous of you on a second thought, i am not sure about that.

Contrary to popular belief.. narrower tire is better for snow.
Physics breh, you have more force per square inch.

Or Michelins...yeah. Blizzaks are great. The FX has those for the winter and that thing is a tank.

I guess i can keep my next suggestion to myself then.. 305 all seasons.

But in all seriousness, i guess i learned something new today... Narrow tires = better in snow? That is very interesting. Then i guess i3 will be a good handling machine in the snow with those bicycle tires.

Just move to Texas. Winter tires aren't necessary here, so you can run them bitches as wide as you want.

Yup. The friction factor is so small, you just want force per square inch.

Opposite on summers. More surface area is better in the summer.
