My friend was going to cancel his m5 order. His dealer said “nah man. Order it and make it however you want. If you don’t end up getting it we can sell it no problem!” Mind you he’s leased at least 10 cars from them...
when my my dad ordered his 5 back in 89 when we lived in Germany and did factory delivery...we did the whole tour and went to receive the car...cloth seats, dad had ordered leather. Someone done fucked up. There were options but we were moving back to the states soon, the car needed to shipped...he begrudgingly took an extra discount to take the car.

if i ordered the 8AT and the car came with 6mt, it would be a very different conversation.

So, slapstick aside, if the dealership ordered the wrong car for you, oonowindoo, that's screwed up. They should find a way to rectify the issue esp. given that your car's not exactly chump change.
I dunno, get what you want and not settle, right?
I would review this with the dealership.

There are only 2 options for me: i wait 3 more months, which i am not planning to do. or get a discount that i cannot refuse especially i have been driving the 8at for the past 3 years and i am OK with it.
I already got a deal that is better than what 99% of the people would get on a ordered car (funny how that worked out), so any additional/significant discount is unlikely.
So we will see.

Review the dealership does nothing... remember i am in the 626... we just dont care.

Given the new timeline, I'm buying other crap in "installments". May as well buy the winter wheels, Weathertech mats sometime in August or September...I can go stare at my tires or something when they arrive.
Senior Moderator
I know...I'll set up 4 chairs, stand up the wheels, and have the mats put on the ground. And pretend to drive.

It seems to me that if someone ordered a 6MT
For sure you don't fuck that up
I'm sure they have a hard enough time getting those out the door
Probably 10 to 20 ATs for every 1 MT
I guess that's also part of the problem... check check check, didn't read shit.

I already waited for a few months already.... i aint waiting half a year for a car... unless it is some kind of 6 digits exotics that i cant afford.
The dealer just told me that to come by when the car arrives and they will do everything they can to make it right..... you know the typical dealership talks...

Considering that snowstorms here can leave about 3 feet of snow, um...yes. AWD don't equate to stopping power even if the brakes on the S5 are pretty good from reviews and what I experienced when I was test driving. Those brakes won't stop the car from sliding with the performance tires it comes with.
Combined with my genetics of Asian driving, I need all the help I can get.

how about AWD with all season tires?

Nope. Big mistake many people make or assume. In theory, all-seasons would be great in regards to their treads if their freezing points were not so high and if the snow wasn't so deep. The issue is that once they freeze from the temperature, they are useless. Winter tires have deeper treads that allow for better grip and don't freeze in bitter temperatures. It's all about stopping. I can tell you the number of times I've seen 4X4 trucks or Jeeps who think they are invincible but do NOT have winter treads that are in the roadside ditch in storms.
It's all about the shoes. Yes, it's that here. No wonder no one moves to Canada.

2024 Honda Civic Type R
Plus it's an excuse to get aftermarket wheels. One set for summer and one set for winter.

you need traction in the winter... wtf is that 19 x 8.5 shit... go get some 19x10 with 305 winter tires... you will have all the traction in the world. Even RLX with upgraded tires will be jealous of you on a second thought, i am not sure about that.

If I go hood first into a ditch and my face perma-kisses the steering wheel per oono's suggestion I get fatter tires and/or just stick to all-season's in -25 weather with 3 feet deep of snow??!? Yeah. Sure. You will have to check with the wife first though.

I guess i can keep my next suggestion to myself then.. 305 all seasons.
But in all seriousness, i guess i learned something new today... Narrow tires = better in snow? That is very interesting. Then i guess i3 will be a good handling machine in the snow with those bicycle tires.

Just move to Texas. Winter tires aren't necessary here, so you can run them bitches as wide as you want.
