He's also the same dude who slid a 12C across a grass highway median and into a barn a year or so ago on their Gold Rush rally.

He's also the same dude who got into an e-fight with Koenigsegg about the quality of the Agera he was buying.

Well, I'm certainly not "worship[ping] assholes," but I see no reason why the contents of his garage aren't worthy of discussion, regardless of the fact that he's an asshole.

Forced induction whore news: Electric Turbochargers from Audi

Example: The RS5 has twin turbochargers, as well as the electric turbo, and produces 385 hp and 553 lb-ft, for 0-62 mph acceleration of about four seconds. The current 4.2L V8 produces 450hp and 317lb-ft of torque.

Sign me up. Plus electric turbocharging, according to Audi, increases fuel economy by 15-20% depending on application.

I haven't either. I was going to tweet VW of NA and axe them. It's ridiculous.

And here's the fucking BRILLIANT VW Marketing response. Holy Shit VW, you need a new leader in North America:

Dear Mr. Yo Teach,

We appreciate you providing feedback on our website.

The “Build and Price” tool on our previous website was a fun way to design the vehicle of your dreams and I know it will be missed by VW enthusiasts.

The new vw.com is built for consumers and uses matchmaking functionality, letting our drivers easily shop for specific features, such as color or price, among vehicles that already exist near them. The “Find a Match” function on the new site has more than 80,000 unique profile pages for actual vehicles.

We recognized that many in the VW family were interested in finding specific vehicles available for purchase in their area; our new site is in response to this interest.

Thank you for taking time to offer your comments and please feel free to email us again with any future comments or questions.

Sincerely,

Cara D.

Is it possible they aren't offering a "build a VW" option on the site? All I see is "Find a Match" and "Find a Dealer".

There's an independent shop that developed this kit for 86 cars.

Insane power boost with such a simple set up.

I can see how it's going to be one of the main FI options for most performance oriented cars in the near future.

wow... so I can't build a GTI with a manual car. Ohh forget that even. I wanted to build a 2-door but i only had the 4door option.

It is a good feature for people that want to buy RIGHT now. But people that are looking into cars that they wanna buy in the future it is a horrible option. They should have both.

I'm kinda surprised this took this long. Especially with everyone going to turbos lately. Its a smart way to rid of turbo lag

Which probably sounded smart to some bonehead.

Except that if I got to VW.com and try to find a car that no dealer ever orders, I'll never find it. And I won't be able to figure out what it'll cost or what else I have to have in order to get it (like the Lighting Package).

It's asinine.

That electric turbocharger idea is interesting. I'm kind of skeptical, though. Wouldn't it be more efficient to just use that battery power to help directly drive the car, like a ... hybrid?

My guess is that this requires far less weight in batteries than a battery pack big enough to make the same performance boost.

What the hell is wrong with you VW??? Why not provide a find a match AND a build your own? Why only one? Why does this make sense?

i think the whole Audi/VW/Porsche website are all designed by the same firm.

On Audi website, if you add Prestige package, it does not tell you exactly what is included and charge you $4000 for it.

I think the one for 86 cars is electric supercharger. Will dig it out and post it later. It's quite impressive. The TQ boost from it is just insane.
