There's a string of shit / roach motels just east of campus. Ever since F1 started, they've made so much, they've remodeled. Look halfway decent now, at least for a night's rest... off 35.

A buddy of mine knows one of the owners and he made $500/nt the first season.

But not the best for the pocketbook...

There's just a certain territory that comes with cars of a certain caliber. I feel like paying for the craftsmanship and engineering that went into the design and production of the car, not to mechanics to fix shit that the former screwed up on.

I'd rent a minivan, take the seats out and leave them at home ... Drive to the race and sleep on camping pads and sleeping bags in the back.

I'm thinking more: stay at my aunt's or dad's friend's place. Have them take us to the track & pick us up & have a great time. My dad's friend has some former connection with Ferrari & spent the day in their hospitality tent at the F1 race last year.

Nice. For a 10 year old car, I don't think the interior has aged that much.

Shitty cell pics. The interior is in amazing condition. That and only 55k really sold me. I know I'm going to have to drop a good bit of money in her but I'm okay with that.

Nice Maker! I was serious about oil leaks so do some research. Luckily, that's the only major issue I know. Otherwise a great car, just don't take it back to the dealer for service.

Drop you off and pick you up will probably only work Friday and Saturday. Maybe Sunday morning drop-off. Picking you up Sunday afternoon is cruel unless they live east. Not sure if they let traffic in that way. They'll fight their way in and sit in hours of traffic trying to get out.

If you want to save money, park at a designated park & ride. Probably $10 / day. They shuttle you back and forth. Waiting for the shuttle on Sunday will be super long. Bring sunscreen.

If you can get the hospitality tent treatment, that would be sweet. See if you can get a ride in a 458. Don't stay in the tent too long though, you'll definitely want to check out the track.

My favorite spot right now is Turn 9 (Bleachers). High elevation, hard upshifts through turn 8 down to turn 11, very aggressive takeovers. Then down the straight through 12.. it's a hell of a view if you want to see a lot of track and action.

Turn 18 (GA - grassy hill) is my second favorite. That's where the big overtakes will be before coming down the grandstands, lots of close-up action. Turn 5 (Bleachers) is my third favorite, also very aggressive as they position themselves from Turn 1, very limited view unless you're up high, but good action.

Turn 15 corner is overrated (PSL), I read one of the track designers said it was the best seat in the house. I was disappointed and the sun fucking cooks you at that angle. You get to see them slide in but the action is better at Turn 12 bleachers. At Turn 12, your neck will get sore cranking left to right the whole race though, so I don't recommend Turn 12 either.

Trunk and hood do not fully latch. (easy fix though) Front pads needed. Check engine miss fire bank 6. Steering light on. Radio/ navi doesn't work (but climate controls work on screen) Thats about it. With all the electronics in the car problems come. Just what it is.

Nice purchase, Maker. Since it's out of warranty, I'd find a good independent shop in your area. You'll save a few bucks and still get good service. If you go to the BMWCCA website, you should be able to search for recommended independent shops in your area.

Thanks for the tips. My aunt lives in NW Austin & dad's friend lives out on the lake (Travis I think). Ideally he'd drive & we'd ride with him & try to score on the Ferrari hospitality tent.

Which of those have a TV to watch on the big screen?? I can't imagine watching the race and only seeing cars going by, not knowing what place their in, etc. Or just knowing whats going on in the rest of the track

Volvo is going to use Apple's new carfotainment OS in their cars. Which is great except that it won't support any device that isn't an Apple device for some undetermined time after launch.

Looks like I'll have to buy a Volvo before they make the switch if I want one.

I can't think of anything I'd enjoy less than iOS and its endless grid of icons as my car's navigation/HVAC OS.

wow at the The Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge........ !!!

http://jalopnik.com/the-infiniti-q50...lwa-1535910615

The Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Is The GT-R Sedan We've Always Wanted

Expand
They did it. They finally did it. Today in Geneva the hood was lifted on the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge, and it has the engine we've always wanted: the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 from the Nissan GT-R with 560 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.
The last time I hung out with Infiniti CEO Johan De Nysschen, he swore up and down that slotting a GT-R engine into one of their sedans was probably not a thing that was going to happen. Turns out ol' Johan pulled a fast one on us. A very, very fast one that the Germans and everyone else should be afraid of.

Infiniti doesn't come out and say that it's THE GT-R engine, but with all-wheel drive and displacement and power figures identical to the motor in their supercar destroyer, well, I think we all know what's going on here.
They say the car will do zero to 60 mph in under four seconds, can do up to 180 mph, and has a seven-speed automatic gearbox, but not the dual-clutch the GT-R gets. Oh, and all-wheel drive. It has all-wheel drive with a 50/50 front-rear torque split. 1
No word yet on production plans, but Infiniti says this concept is a "potential powertrain" for the Q50 Eau Rouge they want to build. Build this one, Infiniti.

Never use the Navi in that 745Li, it can never be turned off until you reach your destination.

I had to live with "please make a U turn when possible" for almost 4 hours to Vegas once in a 745Li.
