If only I had an F-Type. With an M6 GC. And Emma Watson as my wife. With ScarJo as my mistress.

Fine, I'm not that demanding. I'll settle for just an F-Type R

http://jalopnik.com/the-new-f1-cars-sound-shockingly-different-from-last-ye-1545701972

With a switch from a screaming naturally aspirated V8 to a much smaller 1.6-liter turbcharged V6, it was inevitable that the new Formula One cars would sound different from their predecessors. But just how different are they for 2014?

Enough that you will be genuinely surprised when you compare the two side by side at the Melbourne Grand Prix, as this intrepid YouTube user did. Assuming the same filming angle and recording techniques were used, the new cars, to me, sound much quieter, lower and more anonymous than the V8s they replaced.

I wasn't at Melbourne this weekend (sadly!), but based on this video I'm pretty disappointed. I've had the privilege of hearing those old cars in person on a couple occasions and I have to say I'll miss their ear-splitting, spine-melting wail. The sound is one of the best things about a live F1 race. I hope the cars sound better in real life than they do here.

Evidently I'm not the only one upset about this. Our old pal Alex Lloyd reports at Yahoo! Autos that the group that staged the race, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, is so incensed over the underwhelming sound that they're claiming breach of contract with Bernie Ecclestone and his F1 management group. The Aussies say they didn't get what they paid for this weekend.

Is it really that bad? Listen to the video and judge for yourself. Was anyone there this weekend? Can you attest to how the cars sound from the stands?
Fuck you Bernie. Eat shit and die you fucking troll. The only good you've done is produce hot daughters, good for you you cocksucker.

I'm still hoping to go to the USGP this year in Austin. The sound has grown on me a little, but I'll miss the wailing engines from the previous 2 generations.

I dunno, I think going to a race where you don't need ear protection is actually a good thing. I go to SCCA races and enjoy the Formula Vee as much as the Formula Atlantic ... If all we're basing the quality of the competition on is sound levels, then Top Fuel Drag Racing is the best motorsport in the world.

Apparently the old fuck can still hear and doesn't like it either. He said they'll try to adjust it mid-season.

These fucking regs and Bernie playing the naive card. Of course you knew it was going to sound like shit you dolt. Then to tell fans.. well.. it's too late, lets let it go for the next several races and we'll see what we can do. These regs are bullshit and so are these new engines. Great for a road car, shit for a race car.

The point of doing this was so that the millions of dollars spent in F1 could actually be justified in that it'll go into future passenger cars. There is nothing about a 10K RPM V8 that will help future cars burn less gasoline.

And again, the sound of the car is important but it's not the only thing. F1 has sucked for years. It's not enjoyable to watch even if you take out Vettel's dominance. If this makes F1 watchable and financially justifiable then it's a win-win IMO.

There's always NASCAR.

It's expensive alright. Since i'm staying several days, paying airfare and hardly go to F1 races, I'm going 'all out' and doing the McLaren VIP package, club level.

In exchange I have to do the hippie-dippie stuff with the wife in Austin

As for the new F1 engine sound, my wife's business partner is from Australia (Melbourne) and most of his family was at the race. They all said the cars sound like something out of Star Wars (in a good way) and that the recordings don't do it proper justice.

FWIW

Dude, we ALL know that these manufacturers/teams have the wrong strategy. It's not about the technology. It's about the damn tires. Get some really good tires and you'll smoke any cart out there.

Just ask the RLX.

The hybrid technology. Some day in the not too distant future you're going to see a $65K sports car with McLaren P1 technology.

Why doesn't F1 just go electric. Fucking watch 5 minutes of racing 2 hours of charging.. first one with a full battery wins. I can just hear the electric flow to the batteries now.
