It mounts on the shift rod on the transmission (circled in red below). Ever since the shop swapped the motor, my shifter has had about 1-1.5" of side to side play.

Edit- I have no idea why the photo won't rotate.

Dude, sign up for a yoga, meditation or something before you attempt to replace those things

It shouldn't be too terrible. Thankfully the pin that holds it on isn't like the Honda bitchpins; those are spring pins that require you to press them out. This one just slides out, the ring holds it in there. So all I need to do is bend the ring back into shape to slide off the joint, and the pin should drop out.

My only fear is that the end of the rod going into the transmission is damaged. I seriously hope that isn't the case though.

I've decided to be lazy and not replace that part today - besides, I ordered the MTec shift springs and they haven't arrived yet. Might as well kill three birds with one stone.

that comes with age...when we're young we're so impatient we don't think about the smart way to get it done, just to get it done now. I do that too...if i'm going to rush through it, I wait.

I know, I'm lucky...sticking with one company since I was 18 pays off. At 15 years, I got my 4th week included. So technically I have 22 days a year...I could buy another 5 but I don't need it more than I need the cash on my check.

So I finally slapped the coilovers on the wagon last week along with new tires - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3s, 245/35-18 front and 255/35-18 rear. I got the car aligned because I was taking it to NY for Thanksgiving, but I need to readjust the height, so it'll need another alignment

While I'm doing that I might as well replace some of the worn bushings and ball joints since I'm just over 199k miles. Once I got to NY, I did an oil change, cursed Toyota for putting the oil filter in a dumb location, and replaced the air filter. I picked up spark plugs as well but I'm waiting for my plug wires to come in before removing the throttle body to replace them. Also dumb.

Gas mileage for the entire trip: 22mpgs

Fuck

I came home Tuesday and decided to drive the FR-S to work yesterday. I missed driving it - so much fun. I've got some work to do on that as well that I may be able to knock out this weekend, but I'm probably going to be lazy instead. I also need to take some new photos, but...lazy.
